Im a piano player primarily with only a little harmonica practice so take this next question with a grain of salt. If Ive selected a harmonica which is in the right key, and have a reasonably good ear, why would i bother with modes or even think to? If I move from my 1 chord to my 4 I still have all the notes of lydian over my 4 without changing anything. Ive never taken any serious instruction or lessons on harmonica so let me know if theres something im overlooking here. Ive found an understanding of modes more useful durring songwriting than actually playing on piano but have always taken a just go for it approach on harmonica. Enjoyed the video nice playing man.

Thanks for the video! I'm still on my first harmonica, and maybe there is an obvious answer, but what would prevent someone just buying a brass sheet of the same thickness as reeds - around 1 to 1.5mm (those usually cost like less than 10USD/pounds/whatever), and cut them in the same shape as the reed and solder it in? With this technique, one could theoretically get a lifetime's supply of reeds from that single sheet.

I've been using the "here comes the bride", to tune my lips. sort of like a guitarist tuning the strings before playing. otherwise i'd actually play the wrong notes, especially with all those half note intervals in the hole 3 draw. or when switching to another position.

thank you. i think this is a fun way to learn the major scale in other positions. plus learning that first note which is 4 intervals lower.

man i wish i play 36 notes. i have a hohner meisterklasse, a suzuki promaster, and lee oskars. i can only overblow 4 through 6, and overdraw the 7. i wonder if i should buy a marine band.

I agree about using short and frequent sessions. The more times you struggle to remember something, the better you learn it. It's like you are eliminating all the wrong ways of remembering something.

Love mine in G so much. Just ordered a Low F. Kinda my favourite harps now. My DaBell in G is a close contender too. Powerful or what! 😮‍💨
