Her vocals are... odd. There is a strong break between her voice registers and her head voice is not strong enough to belt out some of the notes. She doesn't seem to be in the same calibre as other Elphaba's. I think perhaps she was having an off night. I just watched another video of her from a few days after this performance, of her singing No Good Deed. Here her 'Fiyerooooo' is not good at all but 2 days later she pretty much nails it.

@@TimeToBlowYourMind lol this entire production is a weird choice I just so happen to like seeing her be able to use both her hands instead of having to hold the book in one and cast the spell with only one hand which is what I've seen on alot of the tours, as far as the ⚙️ cog background dropping down like that it was horrible looking and I also noticed during defying gravity the giant cloak isn't in the 2nd circular arch instead in front of it

Yea I am unfortunately not a big fan of this production. It’s way too scaled back

@@dyland.4787 I agree it’s scaled back, but it’s still a cut above most other show tours. WICKED has heavy automation - I guess it’s hard (and expensive) to take that on tour to theatres that aren’t necesssrily big enough / equipped to accommodate it. The fact we still get a set change and costume changes for EVERY scene is remarkable for a touring production, imo!

@@TimeToBlowYourMindThe problem is that Wicked is known as a prestige show for large venues, and this tour’s sets seem very scaled back by comparison to the other productions still running elsewhere. I assume they were trying to fit it into smaller stages than they’ve previously reached, but it looks cramped, and enough elements have been reduced or removed that it’s lost the original production vision. Very poor timing, too, since the massive cinematic experience of the movie will make this look even smaller by comparison. The best way I can describe it is that this production doesn’t have any “breathing room” onstage, and that air of spaciousness and dramatic depth of field is part of what makes the original designs so magical.

@@TimeToBlowYourMind OK, calm down. I didn’t say she was bad. I said Carly is stronger vocally. You clearly need to calm down. Before you judge, I am a retired performer who performed on Broadway, several national tours, and around the globe, so I know a little about what I am talking about. Btw cheering when we are performing gives us that little extra boost. When people cheer on the lift rise, I can guarantee it gives the performer an adrenaline rush. They don’t think, “ shut up, I’m singing”. You obviously have never been on the other side of the footlights professionally.

Elphaba’s: Lauren Samuels and Casey Al-Shaqsy are the most exciting new Elphaba’s we’ve seen in years. MKM is phenomenal. Carly Augenstein is flawless. Alexia Khadime is Mother. Madison Firth is incredible. Laura Harrison, Kate Leiper and Charlotte Anne Stein are excellent, but I find them predictable and unexciting (so struggle to watch them again). Glinda’s: McKenzie Kurtz is the best new Glinda we’ve had since Hilty, so talented. Austen Danielle Bohmer has a weak soprano voice imo, but such a funny Glinda. Alexandra Socha was good. Lucy St. Louis is great. Christine Tucker was good. I feel like we’re due a new and exciting Glinda. Just my opinons, since I was asked :)
