Sapporo 1876 Replayability Review
We review the board game Sapporo 1876, a 2 player only game from Japanese publisher uchibacoya
BGG Description:
In 1872, the Government of Meiji Japan promoted immigration to Sapporo to develop Hokkaido.
In 1876, Sapporo Agricultural College was opened to develop human resources, including immigrants.
Players are feudal lords who have moved to Sapporo. Contribute to Sapporo's municipal government in order to raise your clan's prosperity and wealth.
To achieve this, it is important to contribute to the education at the Agricultural College. Send your well-trained pupils to the city hall and put them into vital positions. It is also important to cultivate lands, build personal contacts, and invest in buildings for future prosperity.
At the end of the game, the player who has earned more fame points will have their name engraved in the history of Sapporo development.

None man
😂
Hi, why do you need the base game if they provide a new board and cards?
You will still need the player pieces, some tokens, seasonal worker cards, player boards, etc.
Video is edited well, but sound is poor quality and volume keeps changing. But thanks for the review.
I play this with my wife.
And thousands of people would disagree. At least explain why you think so, if you wont, then i couldn't give a monkeys.
Casuals like catan real board gamers don't 😏
Yessss its important that some people still play them and show them off. Not only let them sit there "gaining value" like i understand a few but ALL OF THEM GOTTA BE COLLECTABLE?!
*None
Nice to see Comancheria on a top 100. It's on my wishlist, but I haven't played it yet. The TTR rules mistake is hilarious.
Will definitely be looking into these 👍
I would add to the list: On the Underground and Free Ride
This list of games look like they have a great tabletop presence too. Part of the attraction and experience. I see a few familiar ones too.
Nice and succinct comparison. I think I like both lol. So I guess I get both. :)
Were can you buy it ? 🤗
The voice is hilarious! Love this game and everything about it. Thank you!
Great video. I'd have to pick Vinhos over Viticulture, but this was a fun, quick, informative video.
The Music is a bit too loud
That was the perfect video. Exactly what i was looking for! Now i have to go buy both. Thanks a lot 😢
We've just released Ironwood design diary on its BGG page!
thanks for the video!!
Kobayakawa and Rumble Nation are great. I also got Scout, Moon Base, Trio, Rafter Five, Deep Sea Adventure, Tokyo Highway and Square on Sale. Have ordered Startups and Remember our Trip. All 11 games by japanese designers. I also got Dro Polter and Viking See-saw (the two don't have a japanese designer, but are released by japanese publisher).
Love this video concept and the energy you guys bring to it !
2 years since this, great list! Could you please update this list with a new top 100 series, now in March 2024 :)
We often have more than 4 players, sometimes more than 6. So, coming up with light games for a large player count can be challenging. Ticket to Ride USA is probably the game we’ve used the most to introduce to casual players along with Carcassonne base game. You can even eliminate the fields in the first play of Carcassonne. Azul is good for casual players too. Sagrada has an expansion that supports up to 6 players. Recently added 7 Wonders Architects to my collection as it is streamlined and supports up to 7 players! Light card games include 5 Crowns, Wizard and Skull King.
Enjoyed your review and list. Glad to see Rails and Sails made the list! Was this video made before Legacy Legends of the West and Northern Lights? I think those are the newest games. Any thoughts about those?
Yes it was. We have yet to play the versions you've mentioned
I enjoyed your re-playability focused reviews. Games with staying power rather than latest hype/promotion of newest games on the market. Excited to see Five Tribes (one of my personal favorites), Ticket to Ride (another favorite) and Azul on the list. Carcassonne with expansions is another one of my most played games that I’m always happy to return to. As much as I like Five Tribes, it’s the gateway games that seem to make it back to the table the most as there is often a casual or less experienced gamer at the table.
Happy I found this! Planning a trip to Tokyo in October, and I gotta stop at Yellow Submarine! (RIP my wallet.) :)
Great video, great energy, thank you!
Thanks for this video! 💜
Thanks for the video!
How many times have you played it?
I CAN’t decide 😂😂
Nice was debating between these two, very useful video, think ill go star wars. Tip - set your camera/phone to manual focus - the autofocus kept switching between your boxes and faces, was hurting my eyes 😂😂 but great video!
ONE of my favourite games of all time is a classic... highly structured and tests the intellect.....I loved what they did with the system..I doesn't overstay it's welcome and can be taken anywhere... good for a night in with the lads....you can play this 15 hundred times.. rumours has it has a expansion pack to .... SNAKES AND LADDERS
Don´t you just hate it when people spam the egg action in games? Thanks for the wonderful list guys!
Thank you for the video and the interesting list (though I felt like the under $25 claim was a little dubious on a few games). I'm afraid I can't cope with being yelled at for a whole video so I skipped through from game to game. Tried some of your other videos to give your channel a shot, but the lady yells in them too. Sorry. =( Thought you deserved some honest feedback from me.
Just found your channel! You guys deserve my sub and im looking forward to your future videos as well as exploring your backlog! Merry Christmas! 🎅🎄🎁
Thank you! Appreciate the kind words!
Love Catan. Good for family fights. Same fights every time. 1)Mom wants to trade for a resource nobody has and asks multiple times, 2)"why do you always put the robber on me?", and 3)somebody can't keep the dice on the table.
Mmm no
the music is too loud, also its a terrible song lol. besides that nice vid
Why is Catan the Monopoly of modern board gaming? Because, like Monopoly, it's pretty crap.
I feel like all board games need to be rated for us dads who are gonna dad-joke; that would really inform my purchases! Thanks for this -- just what I was looking for on this game: short & sweet while giving me a feeling of how it plays. The discussion of whether the theme is re-skinnable was valuable, as I really prefer strong narratives and solid matches between mechanisms and theme. At the same time, the utterly bonkers big swing on "space bees" is just amusing enough that I think this might enough of a theme for me. Keep these reviews coming!
Thank!! but don’t encourage his jokes or he will keep making them😂😂😂
Thanks for taking the time to check out Apiary and share your thoughts with the community!
Thanks!
Nice job folks!!! Congrats from Brazil.
What a fun video thank you so much for sharing
Thank you so much! At last one video with the components arranged in the box!
Make a Schyte vs Dwelling video
Great list there ! However, the topic leaves me a bit in wonder. I mean, are there games that have low replayability nowadays, and if so, what games come to mind?
It really depends on the gamer. It also depends on your group. Some want to play a game 2-3 times and move onto the next hotness; others want to really explore what a game has to offer
Not sure if this was earlier on your list, but my most replayable game is Everdell - especially with the player powers/legendary cards. Each game is different based on which player power/legendary card you get and your strategy really differs from what card (and card combos) are available that game. Marvel United also offers a lot of replayability too with lots of character and villian mashups.
At the time we hadn't played Everdell. We have since and can certainly understand how you like it's replayability
I do agree to some point but not entirely. After having played Everdell for around 20 times I know what combination are good and what goals are worth going for. And with other good players around the table it often is more a luck based game than a strategy.
1st.
