Hiii, I’ve come across so many comments that want to start clay but don’t know as these videos aren’t meant for teaching and only show you very short clips so here’s my little guide, they are many clays and it depends on what your making. The two main ones that I know of the best are polymer and air dry, I personally think air dry is easier and have only used polymer twice. Polymer is more expensive too but it comes in all sorts of colours although I don’t think colour is the main thing because you can paint them and create pastels too which I like, it’s less likely to break though! If your making sculptures then I’d recommend air dry clay although for rings etc MAYBE polymer is better. Now let’s move on to equipment I mainly make trays and and earrings so if there’s anything specially for earrings then I’ll put that in brackets Cutters/molds: they’re rlly helpful for all sorts of stuff and they help get perfect shapes, choose ur size depending on what ur making) Blade: I think blades are good if your make a uncommon shape which u can’t get cutters in Earring making set (earrings): with the backs toppers and the earring thingies lol Note: many tutorials don’t talk abt slip, so if your using air dry clay then you’ll need slip! So as your making your creation itll start to dry and crack up cuz it’s AIR DRY clay so slip will fix the cracks and get it a bit more watery How to make slip: use hard or soft clay and mix with water and use when needed Any more questions, please ask 👇 if you found helpful 😊

Most people here use airdry clay, but there are plenty others too. What clay you should use depends on what you're making. If you want to make jewellery, keychains or figures polymer clay may be the best choice for you, it cooks in a regular oven and comes out solid like plastic, plus it comes in many colours. However, it is expensive, a bit heavy and not as easy to come by (at least where I live) Airdry clay/paper clay are good for most other things, statues and dishes. Its relatively cheap and is the easiest to come by, but it breaks easily and takes a day or two to fully dry. I don't know much about the soft colourful clay but it seems to be airdry and lightweight. I'd guess its a little sticky and hard to work with, but it doesn't break as easily as paperclay (though I'd imagine it would be prone to falling apart) Epoxy clay is mostly for hard core artist, NOT beginners. Its toxic, super expensive and bad for you skin, but its by far the strongest clay, and its fairly simple to work with once to get the hang of it. I'd definitely recommend you only invest in epoxy if you've been sculpting for a while or if you're looking to modify an already existing object (like a doll or figure) There's also doll clay but I don't know anything about it be sides that its very delicate and soft. I mostly use polymer clay and I find it easiest to use, but there's lots of things out there to experiment with, there is no right or wrong answer. I'm open for questions if you have any! I've been sculpting for almost 7 years now so I like to think I know a few things ;)

Hello! I'm a bit interested in picking up this hobby, but it's hard to find the information- do you have to use a clay wheel thingy? Also, what type of clay are they using? Do they put their projects in the stove?? Sorry about all my questions, I'm just really excited to pick up this hobby and just want to be sure I'm doing this right xd
