San Clemente for sure you can't as it's a military base and no one is allowed on the island but the military. But you can take the express boat to catalina island and get a kayak there! good luck!

Never rained in 10 years going to Catalina but you never know... same with the weather. Make sure you check ahead of time. Have fun!

I've been in LA 10 years now and I still haven't seen a Halibut... I've been looking but no luck so far:(

One of the places we saw many Halibut was just along the base of the Outside of the Long Beach Breakwater ( daytime),.. The water was rather clear ... we dove the INSIDE at midnight for Huge Lobster ... water was a bit murky but I have several nice photos of Large and I do mean BIG lobsters.... the biggest was just over NINE pounds on the market scale.......I've seen some old photos of much bigger from Catalina but that was long ago...... This inside the Breakwater diving was something we kept low profile about......Take a chance and do a night, inside the wall dive......and IF ya find some big bugs keep it QUIET don't post it on UA-cam ! :)

Anchor up yeah almost anywhere but camp on the beach I don't think you are allowed unless you go to the ones where it's allowed and you booked a spot ahead of time. You have camps in two harbors but I really like the one in parson's landing!

@@macfly7831 Thanks for the reply. Really enjoyed the video. I've never been out to San Clemente, but the spearfishing I've done around Catalina has been among my favorite anywhere. Your video brought back good memories.

Glad you enjoyed the video! no i never use floats for yellow tails. Even the 30 pounder we can handle without a float. But it can take a while sometimes to bring it back up but that's a good workout :)
