For the first I want to express my whole-hearted admiration for the views of Thomas on the life of an artist and how to deal withe the Ego, which, according to the vedic scriptures, is named Ahankara (the false identification with the material body). Thomas is right, when he says that it is not possible to live a meaningful life in the material world by repressing the (false) Ego because - as long we are stay here in this world - we need a kind of identification or Ego; and in addition he expresses the valid point, that it is best to train the Ego as a servant of the divine. If the Ego is accepting that it is best to identify as a servant of god and the beloved ones it looses its bad qualities. JS Bach was a good example of a servant, and therefore he was able to achieve what he has achieved! Thomas therfore is an ideal character to perform Bachs work; only one point of so many important insights given here by Thomas in the company of very qualified interviewers of course!!!

I don't know how some interpreters (even great ones, like Mrs Trull) feel "authorized" to omit repetitions in Beethoven 's somatas. She did it (like here) yesterday in a recital in Athens. I would like to hear her view on the matter.

How long did it take you to play this piece at this speed?

As always, Thomas, your music-making is quite extraordinary, an immense pleasure to listen to. I myself have been playing the piano for years & am getting ready to give my first solo recital in 20 years! Bach Italian Concerto, several Mendelssohn Songs without Words, a couple of works by Debussy, Liszt's famous Liebestraum, and to close, some works by Chopin, including his 3rd Ballade. As I watch & listen to you play, I can't help wondering about how you practice in such a way to build focus & relaxed concentration. I know technique & music cannot be separated, but I am curious if you have any tips on how to render one's technique more reliable and precise under pressure. I believe I practice quite mindfully in general, yet somehow I don't feel I get the results I hope for. Do you teach online, by any chance ? Thank you for reading this. Best regards from Paris!
