Caprice PPV Rebuild Video 6. Waiting on the Government
Not much is happening, in a waiting pattern. I took the car and had the Sheriff's office inspect it and it passed. All the other accompanying paperwork is done and it has all been turned in. True to government form it is going to be a while.

Caprice PPV Rebuild Video 5, Front End is Together!

By piecing together the 13 and the 16 we now have one mostly together car! There were some hurdles to overcome with different wiring harnesses and other differences but nothing that couldn't be managed. One or two more days of work and this car should be ready for inspection.
Caprice PPV Rebuild Video 4 Donor is Stripped
Переглядів 525 місяців тому
All the good body parts I will need from the donor car have been removed. For this front end swap I needed the radiator mount from the donor car as the build car's was damaged. I have a set of brand new headlights I will be putting on the car so the old ones will not be reused but did need to be removed. Getting this one car back on the road is all build phase now! This part of the project is c...
Caprice PPV Hood Removal, Front Clip Swap Step 4
Переглядів 1035 місяців тому
If doing a complete front clip swap the hood will be in your list. The G8, SS, and PPV all have different hoods and some differences may be noted. I will simply be taking a good off one Caprice and putting it on another so it will be a simple transfer.

Caprice PPV Fender Removal, Front Clip Swap Step 2
Переглядів 1235 місяців тому
The Fenders have quite a few mounting points! some are easy to find and some are more difficult. I encourage you to bear in mind that many of these vehicles have been wrecked, worked on, or taken apart for one reason or another. Screws and bolts may be missing or different from what was installed at the factory. The fender ultimately is a rather small, lightweight part but a tad tricky to remove.
Caprice PPV Side Skirt Removal, Front Clip Swap Step 1

Amongst the Holden community (Caprice, G8, SS) front end swaps are a highly discussed topic. In order to remove the fenders the side skirts must first be taken off. This video highlights the steps necessary. This is actually day 2, but video 3. With all the damaged front end removed it was time to check the engine. A brand new Cold Case radiator was mocked up and the air intake put back in place. The car started right up! It has held coolant for a few days now and there does not seem to be any leaks. I hooked it up to the HPTuners Scanner and everything looks healthy. The check engine lights pertai...

New to the collection is the Code 3 SlickStik. These bars were never very common so finding them in good shape can be a challenge. These bars had a reputation for being loud but they have a very unique look. Hopefully you enjoy it as much as I do!

This is a prize piece in the collection. When I acquired the bar the owner was able to trace its origins to being an original NYPD bar. It is worth noting that the PAR bulbs would have been set to alternate flash originally and the flasher was swapped.

thanks brother i was worried that you could only do this with clear lenses
Good job, but a suggestion believe it or not....to seal it after you Polish it and protect itfrom the elements. I use a thin coat of anal lube.. I usually get at the pharmacy and it seals and protects everything for years.. Since it has a petroleum base.
Hi Deg, Beautiful unit! I'm a retired firefighter who builds model fire apparatus. Would you happen to have dimensions and detail photos of the 66L that I could share with a 3D modeler?
How wide of a wheel did you use?
Do you still have this for sale?
Sweet!
ME WANT ONE!!!!
Very cool; probably an obvious answer; I've seen some old rigs with a pull out switch, one re-make, which read "sirenlite," I wondering, seeing an old ad, if they all had flash patterns, & also if once the light switch would be pulled out, the siren ran on an early form of timing cycle, or if they were ran, the siren, separately, through a different control, ie as seen with some older apparatus, with their sirens operated by a floor board switch, horn ring switch, or in-dash-board button?
Hello is siren for sale.?
AC? I have 2 DC sirens and as soon as the power is cut it comes to a dead stop, unlike yours
This is a DC siren and I am running it off an AC to DC converter. It is just coasting once power is removed, Q sirens and other large mechanical sirens tend to take time to stop spinning.
Did you use the liquid on the headlight kit? Or just wet sand with the little soap and different grades of sandpaper with the spray sealant at the end?
In this case I did not use the liquid. I just wet sanded then sealed. If you have domes that are not overly damaged you can even try to simply buff and polish with no sanding at all.
Sounds like a mini STH-10
Sounds like Mayberry #1’s siren
Hey that’s where I live Chicago
Our 1965 chevy has the same on
I use 3M Finesse cutting compound then Flitz metal polish and finish with carnuba wax to seal them. I only sand if there's deep scratches, nice finish you got though.
gotta be honest here (toward Metro, not you), i hate the LED pods compared to the old halogen bulbs and rotators. the alternating/strobing LED just isn't as effective to me, and it looks cheap. either SLR or just stick with old school halogen/rotators gets my vote
If you wanted looks, the old halogens with the LED lights for the directional bar looked good. If you wanted effective lighting day or night when rolling code, the LED pods could not be beat. The slow flash in 2 was also when they initially rolled out these light bars but then they reprogrammed them for a faster flash so that it was almost like 3.
I getcha on the brightness of LED, but with fixed LEDs being directional, you’re losing the 45° angle that the vision/vector were made for. SLR is the only way to go if you want LED because they’re true 360°.
Had 1 mounted on a Holmes 440 rig. But it was EEC and it had more yellow dome and a orange dome with brakelight/ turn signal/ alternating stationary lights. Bet I will never see it again because I liked it.
We just got one of these how can we tell if it’s Vegas or chp ??
Sorry for the slow reply. This bar is known to be LVMPD due to ID tags on the equipment as well as the individual I purchased it from could track it back to it’s origins.
Do not hook these 12 volt sirens to a battery charger. Use a full 12 volt battery using battery cables to get the full sound out of these older sirens.
Hi! Please tell me the year of the start of production of this light bar. And the year of the end of production. Thanks!
1977 to 1994 for the timing gear rotators, 1988 - 90 to 2014 for the independent rotators Aerodynic by Federal Signal
@@jvgaming3132 Thank you very much!
Thanks for documenting this process. I cleaned and polished my domes using this process and it works as good as advertised. The results are impressive. Thanks again for sharing. Now if someone could detail the reassembly process.
I want to buy your light bar
how much do you want for the light bar
I was wondering how to do this on a dome, thanks!

We have the same light on our our 2 engine cant find a bold for it need help lol
How much do you want for your Smith & Wesson light Bar
I have two of these and looking for parts
Hi I have a Federal WLR and I think the front light/bulb is wrong. Could you help me out on this topic? Cheers
Forgive the stupid question, but how is your siren wired up? I have a pair of 77LBs that I'm looking to place back into service on our antique apparatus, and I'm hoping that mine and yours are roughly the same. On mine, I see there's one thicker cable which I assume is the +12V power, and two smaller cables, one either for the brake or light, and the other being ground possibly?? Or is the unit grounded through the mount? I'm not entirely sure and don't want to just start connecting things up without knowing for certain and obviously with it being as old as it is, there's virtually nothing to go off of online. Any ideas? Thanks!
Hilltop Gaming sorry for the slow reply. This unit is grounded through the housing. One large wire came from the mount of the siren and is 12+ to activate the siren. A second smaller gauge wire came from the light and is 12+ to activate the light.
@@emergencylightingbydeg Not a problem at all. Thank you very much!
Esta sirena está a la venta??
By chance, you know the amp draw on this light?
What use you to cleaned with i have that same ligthbar with corroded Dome
I like these then the led version can you please make a video with the lightbar on
I am still restoring the rest of this Vista and when that project is complete a full video will be made. I also have an Arjent SL(the led version) that I have requests to record and will be making that video in the coming weeks.
Hey, how did you take apart the individual panels? I'm gonna start working on a project aerodynic of my own and I wanted to make custom lenses for it.
Interesting how you jumped from 600 grit to 2000 grit. YMMV but typically I tend to not make such a big jump between wet sandings.. 600 or 800 to 1000/1200/1500 to 2000 etc.. PlastX works well as does Novus.. it's all a matter of personal preference.
If this were paint or if I planned to buff and polish these I would have done more steps in between. Using the spray on sealant though I have found that working it down to be perfectly smooth is not necessary and I still want some roughness so it can adhere.
Interesting, I’ve never tried the finishing spray before. I always buff with plastx after the final sand. I wonder how it holds up.
In my experience it holds up well. I did the lenses on the Liberty that’s mounted on my POV just under a year ago and it still looks good.
hale yah brother can you do this to my Altima?
Sadly no, I no longer work for an upfitter and do not have access to the bluePrint control system.
good job bro. n33d 2 hang soon
