✨🤩✨
A few facts about Membinup for the uninitiated: * You now absolutely need high clearance full offroad van. You will not negotiate the 2nd creek crossing let alone the last section of Daniels road beyond the 2nd last farm entrance. This last section is the worst we have seen it in 24 years and significantly worse than 4 months ago thanks to recent heavy rains & ironically the current volume of traffic and courtesy of social media telling everyone about it!! (Don't believe me? Enjoy reversing a long way up a very steep hill in low range!) Road is graded every 3-4months at the beginning of school holidays only. * The most beautiful time to visit is right now = warm water, low swells + the tidal movement / wind direction this time of year removes most of the seaweed that builds up particularly on the Western end. UNFORTUNATELY the swarms of March (horse) flies this time of year will eat you & your dogs alive during daylight then shift change with the thumbnail size mosquitoes at night so be prepared. * THERE ARE NO TOILETS NOR DUMP POINTS- You must have your own and be mindful of your cassette capacity (Or negotiate the thousands of bush tickets if you choose!💩🤮) * THERE IS NO RUBBISH FACILITIES - and as a result many grubs feel they can simply leave their rubbish behind. If you brought in in TAKE IT WITH YOU!!!! * Pet friendly BUT!!!: If you have reactive or undisciplined dogs BE RESPONSIBLE via collars, leash, muzzle etc!! A badly injured dog means a VERY long anxious drive back to Esperance for veterinary care IF you can get it! Be respectful of other pet owners. * For those not travelling with dogs: Wylie, Lucky, Hellfire & Alexander bays + Thomas River are maintained + toilets & rubbish facilities as does the Duke of Orleans bar caravan park with the nearby absolutely spectacular Wharton's & surrounding beaches. All beautiful but some zoned in national parks eg Cape Le Grande hence may not be pet friendly. (Always amuses me those who pull up in $350,000 worth of rig because it's 'free camping') * BE AWARE of imposed fire bans / fire season via the Shire Of Esperance. There are spotter planes and Rangers in the area during the bushfire season. * Outside the fire restriction dates / total fire ban restrictions, be aware that there is also no firewood at most of these places. Firewood is however abundant South of Norseman if you collect it along the way prior to Gibson. ⭐Be prepared, enjoy your holidays & safe travels. PS: Always well worth speaking to the 'Royals' aka owners of the Duke of Orleans Bay Caravan Park about local attractions & places of interest. There are some breathtaking spots around if you have access to the inside info 😉
Thanks for the vid, we are heading this way in a few weeks. Wiki says the road is a bit rocky and soft in places, but I see lots of vans in so we will give it a try, cheers
Unless you have a high clearance full offroad van I would not attempt it at the moment. Road is in the worst shape we have seen it to date. The second creek crossing is currently unpassable by on road / low clearance / low departure angle vans which means given there is no turn around area a very VERY long reverse back up the long steep hill with a damaged van.
Nice to finally see some more of your filming!😂
Where is GREG.!!!!!;-(
Love The Pantry! 😂
So special to see the Dolphins that close.
We actually did snorkel under the Jetty , accessing from the beach. We were there in summer and the plant life under the Jetty was amazing. I did a little video of it if you want to take a look at what you missed seeing......well worth a look.
Nice clip - great spot, we were out there too a few weeks ago 👍
when is your next video coming?
Hopefully within the next week i should have some ready to go. Still trying to catch up on South Aussie.
