soooo much better than it is today. 20-30 fast fast cars track to track in highly competitive series nationwide. Now there are 4-5 then another group behind them of 4-5, then the locals in any given area. WHAT HAPPENED?

I am hoping West Virginia Motor Speedway can return to its former glory days. These races and atmospheres were incredible. This year's car counts have been way down. I am hoping it doesn't deter the fans and the car counts continue to increase and support this great racing facility. Best of luck WVMS. Always great memories with every race I attended. Great memories of Pennsboro as well. Now that was a crazy ass party track. Come for the party, stay for the race -- Pennsboro!

We used to go to Metrolina Speedway and pull for Billy Scott from Concord North Carolina when I was a kid

I saw Metrolina when it was paved. Good track, sort of reminded me of Birmingham.

NASCAR deserves what it gets turning its back on these tracks for cookie cutter junk and overpriced tickets.

Dang I’m from Monroe and knew about Starlite from my parents attending races and children but I didn’t know about Metrolina or the Pageland track! A serious shame about the Metrolina Speedway. ThT was obviously a paved 1/2 mile track which would have been awesome. Reminds me a lot of Caraway Speedway. We have no local racing around here anymore. Concord Speedway is all but shutdown and I Don’t like Lancaster Speedway.

My great uncle was the attorney for Lex Watts the founder of Pageland Beach Speedway, when several people were killed and injured in the inaugural race the track never re-opened. Mr Watts legal fees were paid and reimbursed by my great uncle and Ed Redfearn ended up owning the house/hotel.

Love the videos of these old forgotten places. Nice to see you put the dates of when they opened vs when they closed. You know what would have been awesome also???? Giving the info of possibly WHY they closed since you have the history book in your hand!
