C3 Door Handle Removal Tip
Переглядів 4,3 тис.2 роки тому
Struggled getting the door handle out on the driver side. The hinge pin had worked its way mostly out of the handle and wedged itself inside the door panel! This is how I solved the issue. I know it won't work for everyone, I was fortunate my pin wasn't completely seized. Good luck out there! #WhiteKnightGarage #OhioDetailing #PataskalaOhio #Detailing #740detailing #614detailing #C3Corvette #Co...

I feel your pain. I’m in the process of doing the same thing to a 1972 vette coupe that my dad bought new. So far have replaced the weather stripping and a lot of the things on your list. A word of caution, if you can rebuild or repair a part that is the best course. A lot of the after market parts are Chinese and fit poorly or don’t work at all. Really nice car, looking forward to seeing your progress. The guy who made the comment on your windshield is right. I ended up taking everything apart. Lot more rust and damage than on first glance. Fix it right and forget about the silicon caulk, because it won’t last. Take it apart and do it right, you will be a lot happier.

Cooper - I'm really happy to hear these cars are getting the TLC I feel they deserve! Hope to see yours on the road soon. I think all of you are right and I should take the time to properly repair the windshield frame. For everyone who has taken the time to watch and comment, it's very much appreciated that you share your learnings and your recommendations!

Matt, not to be negative about your project, but the part of the video that shows the windshield pushed in on the driver's side, may indicate a major problem with the famous birdcage. They are notorious for rotting out on C2s and C3s. I have a 69 that I bought new and have a lot of experience in working on it and its problems.

Hello Bud. That is not negative at all and is very appreciated! The frame is exactly what we think the issue is but we decided to not tackle it. The window appears and feels solid and I am hopeful some black silicone will keep it from leaking for some time. Essentially my dad doesn't want to deal with it so we're kicking the can down the road until it's only my problem 😂... The front body mounts show no rust which is where I thought the majority of the leak lead to. Performing water spray test with a garden hose, the leaks are only around the top of the window frame (that I can find). They show themselves as dripping down the rearview mirror. What's your thoughts on this semi-temporary solution? Any more info you got I'd be glad to hear! Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment.

If that 50k was in current day Rubles money it wouldn't be so bad! I love seeing these cars on the road so I'm glad you're one of those keeping them alive!

First Matt what a beautiful color combo on your 69.. My first vette was a triple black 69 427/396 4 speed when I wore a younger mans clothes. Today 5 vettes later I'm restomoding my 81 and it's the same color combo as your 69...I loved the fiber optic system in my 69 and the pop out rear window (since it was a non a/c car) I'll upload a video once mine is completed hopefully for others such as yourself to appreciate. But in the meantime I'll be checking in on your updates with full interest and excitement! The C3 is the vette to own and drive!
