Fusion Friday - As-Built Joints
In this video, I show how to use the As-Built Joint command when you have an assembly that is already assembled, but does not have any joint relationships. This is a very easy to use command that saves a lot of time not having to reassemble already put-together assemblies.

Fusion Friday - Cosmetic vs. Modeled Threads
Переглядів 1,3 тис.День тому
In this video, I show the difference between cosmetic and modeled threads in Fusion. I explain why your threads don't show up on your 3D prints you created in Fusion. I also show a cool tip on how to quickly toggle all your threads between cosmetic and modeled in one click!
Fusion Friday - 3D Connexion Mouse
Переглядів 2,7 тис.14 днів тому
In this video, I show how I have my 3D Connexion Mouse set up for the smooth panning, zooming, and rotating of Fusion designs. I've had multiple requests on showing what settings I use to make using this 3D Mouse easier to use.
Fusion Friday - Intersection Curve
Переглядів 2,1 тис.21 день тому

Fusion Friday - Ground To Parent
Переглядів 2 тис.Місяць тому
Usually your parents ground you, but in this video, we learn the Ground to Parent command and how it works. What is the new little anchor icon in the browser, and what does it do? Why is it that components don't move when I drag them, like they used to do? Watch this video to learn the answers!
Fusion Friday - Creating Components Quickly
Переглядів 2 тис.Місяць тому
In this video, I show a cool tip on how to quickly create components in the correct structure in the browser. No need to go to the menu or to change the parent each time.
Fusion Friday - If/Then Parameter Statements
Переглядів 2,3 тис.Місяць тому
In this video, I show how you can add intelligence into your design by using If/Then/Else statements. We use an example of a bookcase where it adds more shelves and changes the thickness of the material depending on if certain variables are met.
Fusion Friday - Creating bent tubing
Переглядів 3,1 тис.Місяць тому
In this video, I show two different methods for creating bent tubing and finding out the correct angles and lengths of the tubing. I show how to use the sweep command in the first example and then using sheet metal in the second example.

Переглядів 2,1 тис.2 місяці тому
In this video, I show how you can quickly create powerful "scripts" in Fusion with no scripting experience! That's right, we will write some scripts using AI functionality. I show how to measure the mass properties of every model in your design and have it return the result in pounds, not ounces! I also show how you can create a pattern of construction planes without using the pattern command.

I loved this video, but my anxiety and perfectionist-self was screaming at the screen, to see one last motion, where the whole thing moved, including the rubber clamp part. Didn't get that final satisfaction. Lol. Now I have to recreate the video just to satisfy that urge. Fantastic video though, this explanation will help me a lot in the future.

lol. Good point. Actually, this video was longer, but I ended up cutting a portion of it out and I guess I cut out the final "let's move everything together" part. Sorry about that. But like you said, you now have the skills to recreate it yourself and get the satisfaction of creating the whole thing by yourself! :)

    - 'Pin' vs. recently added 'Ground to Parent'? - Yes, former creates feature in Timeline, while latter does not (though does show little 'anchor' icon added to component icon in 'Browser' tree) - BUT, what are the practical, use case differences? Pros/cons; and when/why to use one vs. the other? - TIA. And, thx for your continued contributions to the Fusion community.

Long overdue is Brad's 'Fusion Friday' series: drill-down on a given Fusion command, feature, workflow idiosyncrasy. It needn't be restricted to just one day of the week, however. I propose "Daily Drill-Down" instead.

  • @Thomllama
    @Thomllama 12 днів тому

one other tip.. it you chamfer or round over the end to make lead in/starting the threads into the nut or threaded hole. you leave the threads cosmetic, then chamfer the top edge, this will chamfer the top edge of the shank/stud of the screw/bolt.. then go back and change to modeled threads and you get a nice lead in. if you try to chamfer/round over after modeled threads you'll get alll the threads chamfered/rounded over like you showed... :)

If you have a three button mouse, ALWAYS use the wheel to zoom in and out. It is a ton easier with no alternate motions filtering in. Best part is if you place your mouse cursor on the spot you really want to see it zooms in to exactly that spot. I love my Wireless Spacemouse. Thanks for all your videos over the years I have watched hundreds of hours and learned most of what I know from them.

Thanks for the tip. I took my 3D mouse out of the drawer and your tip definitely help. With the analogy of holding the model in with fingers, I found that I want to rotate the knob like a volume control to rotate the model around the vertical axis, but that action rotates the model on axis perpendicular to the screen. I was unable to change that in settings. I guess I'll just have to train myself. EDIT: I've just discovered that by choosing Constrained Orbit, both movements (turning a knob/puck on axis perpendicular to table and rotating the puck on axis perpendicular to myself) rotates the model on the vertical axis. Now I just have to use the 3D mouse consistently that it becomes second nature.
