    Any idea on how to fix a warning that says 'poor input coordination distribution'. Apparently, there is an excessive panel angle 40.1 at i = 26. It suggests fixing this with repaneling with PANE? What does this mean and is this something I should be concerned about? Ran the airfoil a bit in viscous mode and it seems to run fine from 0 to 18 degree AOA.

    Hello, a total long shot but throwing it out there. I'm trying to duplicate an old fiberglass fuselage (40" long). I only have plans showing a side profile view and top view but need to identify a series of cross-section profiles (lofting?) to use in carving a mold plug. I've been trying many searches to see if there is software that can help creating the 3rd view cross-sections from the 2 existing views. I don't understand it, but came across your videos of Solidworks and was encouraged that maybe what I need is possible. I'm not explaining this well, but if you receive this comment and understand my question, I'd be very grateful to know if I'm looking for something that can't be done? Thank you! JGiles

    At 14:45 you mention there's some GUI's that go over Xfoil making it easier to make polars, etc. Would you mind sharing some insight into those? Curious what they are and how they function. Thanks and awesome tutorial otherwise.

      I would recommend the Xflr5 program. Its latest version is quite stable, and you can conduct multithreaded Xfoil analysis with nice plotting. I was using it just today in fact!

    Thank you for the video, it's very helpful! But I have one question, I'm pretty new at this stuff so if it's a stupid question, I'm sorry in advance :) When I follow your instructions, just three columns with values show up in the end, is there any setting on how to add a column for drag coefficient C_D which doesn't show up? Thank you!

      I think you are trying to output useful polar data. look up the command "pacc" which is for polar accumulation. Xfoil has a nice user guide. Maybe also try Xflr5 which is a GUI interface for xfoil (and much more). It makes accumulating polars and viewing plots effortless. it's also free!

      you could go in and directly edit the point file, but it's likely easier to go grab a properly conditioned point file from somewhere else to start

    Hi Dr. Hays, I am trying to run Xfoil on my laptop using a linux sub system and am getting this error to do with fonts: Error of failed request: BadName (named color or font does not exist) Major opcode of failed request: 45 (X_OpenFont) Serial number of failed request: 26 Current serial number in output stream: 28 I don't suppose you know the solution to this? Thanks, Freya
