Zelda HORI Joy-con D-pad Review, 2024. Nintendo Switch.
Looking over the directional pad on this "Zelda Hori d-pad joy-con" it's great for platforming games but for fighting games with roles like Street fighter, sadly it's not the best.

Can you use a saturn Bluetooth controller on the dreamcast?
@@rolandbaron5813 yep, it should work. Anything controller that connects to Android, Nintendo switch, PS3, PS4, or Windows, Works.
@@BlindReflex okay. Thanks 👍🏽

Nice video, do you know if this could play well with Quake 2 n64?
@@Quakecon-s9r I'm sure it would if you prefer the two handle grips over three handle grips and want a fresh N64 controller for cheap. Thanks for the comment brother!
I only have HDMI my friend
@@cameronroman506 hey there friend. Looks like getting an HDMI adapter or internal HDMI mod is your only choice. I would recommend the mod if you want to spend the money. But there's nothing wrong with using the HDMI adapters if it's your only option. Have a good day!
@@BlindReflex yea bro I don’t care enough about playing my Wii in my living room for that. My 4k tv in my room came with component adapters so I just use that for now. I wish I could run it on the new tv but will have to wait. I did see something called the electron shepherd but it’s a little pricey compared to the other adapters
@@cameronroman506 Right, the price to performance for HDMI options is not worth it a lot of the time. I wish the cheap HDMI adapters had better signals.. I'm glad you have options though. What games do you like playing on it? I pretty much just played GameCube, GBA, and Nintendo 64 stuff on mine.
I heard their fun with RPGs. Wish you mentioned why they break...
@@enp82003 Read the description for more info on that. I don't know why the first one broke. It did it on it's own. The second one likely had a corrupted SD card on arrival.
@@BlindReflex those China sd cards always go bad even if you buy an expensive device.
@@enp82003 yeah I know. That's still part of the product purchased. The working one I have now has a new SD card.
Ah okay because I saw this and was confused because other reviewers say it's really sturdy. I thought maybe the buttons broke on you or something.
@@enp82003 yeah. The shell is as sturdy as a brick, solid aluminum. I opened it up and it's one non-modular circuit board and a battery. Pretty solid soldering and stuff. I heard that if you disconnect and reconnect the battery it may fix the black screen issue but it didn't. The one I have now is solid but I did get some bad ones and that's all I was trying to convey. Two out of three is risky and not worth the time and money for me. If you get one and like it, I hope you enjoy it! Best of luck!
Such a bummer! That's so cool, why would you part with it after so long? How are you supposed to play duckhunt for the nes????
@@Mcbuzzerr It was a hard decision. I moved to a small apartment recently and have been thinning down my collection because I have way too much stuff. I do plan on getting a PVM eventually. The ps3 controller is not comfortable in my hands I don’t like it I wouldn’t say it’s the best controller ever made that would go to the Xbox 360 controller
@@Shinxboi That's actually a really good choice. Nothing wrong with the 360 controller at all and the ergonomics are great. I suppose my opinion of the PS3's controller comes more from function over comfort. I feel like I'm one of the only people who likes it better than the PS4s controller. The reason I do is because playing Street fighter third strike, I can do the combos more efficiently with the PS3 OEM D-pad. Admittedly, my controller preference has a ton to do with the d pad alone. The PS4's controller is objectively more comfortable. And the sticks are a little better. But once you get used to it, I feel like the PS3 's dualshock 3 is all around better for me. Thanks for the input!
Not ture the large curved monitors are worth every penny. They look sharp and the pictures are amazing.
@@hueginvieny7959 I wonder why you like them? Opinions are neither true or false my man. It's just an opinion, I've used one for about a year and the idea of viewing angles on a curved monitor is pretty much out the window to start. They are a one-person panel. I feel they are kind of gimmicky, The slight optical illusion of The image appearing millimeters larger at the same distance as a flat panel is extremely overhyped as a "feature." I also think the immersion factor is overstated in the marketing for them. It doesn't feel better than a flat panel after having it for so long, for me. But I'm glad you like yours. I was excited to get one and liked it for the first month or so. Would you mind telling me what you like about yours?

Wym? Are they worth anything? I’m pretty I have some old boxed ones laying around still
@@REM69700 high quality original sticks rated by trusted people (especially in n64 speedrunning like sm64 and golden eye) can actually go for hundreds
@@REM69700 This was confusing to me. Regarding the value of OEM 64 controllers. - I saw a video about speedrunners paying a lot for verified analog sticks that a member of their community grades to sell for a few hundred bucks. Those are worth more. A jungle green OEM with a "Good controller/analog stick" sells for around 80 or so dollars as of late. i bought a ps2 to hdmi adaptor ogf a dude at a yardsale, and it works flawlessly on a ps3 even at 1080 (yeah theres ringing, but overall better that than nothing) so if you can get one for cheap, why not?
Curious, why would you get it for the PS3? Is your HDMI port broken? I'm happy it works for you regardless!
Glad these are around now! So good to play old 64 games with these.. Ended up getting a couple different colors
@@DoomKid hell yeah!
N64 doesn’t support component?
Nope, the highest output you can get out of it natively without modding RGB is S-video. There are component cables available, but they only work with a modded N64. Or you can get a pair with a little chip in them that work okish. So it's s-video all the way as far as the best Nintendo 64 native output.
@@BlindReflex I’ll keep that in mind, thanks. I have regular Red Green and Blue cables for the N64 for the rare times I use it. An N64 classic would go oh so very hard, too. Only if it had pre downloaded games AND a cartridge slot.
@@TheOnlyPedroGameplays A Nintendo 64 classic with a cartridge slot sounds amazing. I would buy that.

Hellooo yeah it's cheap too. I found it on AliExpress about 2 years ago and I think it was somewhere around 25 to 30 bucks
They have a blue one and red as well from what I remember. But I liked the black more personally.
Legal, but you will be a part of the reason why your favourite UA-camr can't do it as a full-time job. Literally get UA-cam Premium (like me) and you wont have any ads on UA-cam or UA-cam Music at all. Easy fix, and you still get to sponsor your favourite creators.
You can still support them in plenty of ways. Views, comments and likes. If you find the service they provide valuable, maybe even patron. But nobody owes anybody for making a UA-cam video. If UA-cam wasn't so pervasive with the ads there would be no need for alternatives like this. They keep adding more and more. This isn't part of the problem, it's changes like this that can make faceless companies finally stop pushing more and more BS just for a higher bottom line. Also when do the subscriptions end.. prime, UA-cam premium, spotify, netflix, hulu, Disney plus, this is getting out of control..
@@BlindReflex Welcome to capitalism, you're getting content so you have to pay for it. If it's netflix, hulu, prime, etc you're paying for access to the platform. On things like Spotify or UA-cam you get to choose between paying by watching ads or paying with money. I do have to agree that the insane duration of UA-cam ads nowadays is very annoying, but you're still using a service that isn't free for them to host. I disagree with the ad durarion but I cannot agree that using an adblocker is the only solution. If you use UA-cam often enough that you want to not have ads you should consider paying with money instead of by watching ads. Ps. UA-cam Premium works to stop ads on any and all devices whenever you login.
@@JorenFa I've had UA-cam premium dude. If you're happy to throw money away monthly just to not have obnoxious ads that can actually take up more time than the content you were trying to watch, congrats. If you don't skip the multiple ads shoved down your throat frequently, you're just a sponge for unwanted garbage. Do what you want man. Frankly, I don't care in the least bit that you think I should pay. I'm not telling you or anybody what to do. I'm helping anyone who wants an option to not be forced to watch content they don't like or want. It's kind of a rapist mentality. Give them an inch and they take a mile. No, I'm not supporting those decisions and I wouldn't watch at all if I was forced to pay or watch 3 minutes of ads that wouldn't push me buy anything anyway..
I own 2 slims (SCPH-70012 from 2004 and SCPH-79001 from 2007) and a fat model (SCPH-39001 from 2002) and they all still function perfectly without damaging disks. If people want to ask which PS2 slim is the best choice, it all depends on what they want from their system. If people want the best PS1 backwards compatibility in a slim model, the first choice is the SCPH-700xx series (earliest slims from 2004) since that's the only slim model with hardware based PS1 emulation. One downside is it's prone to overheating and the MechaCon crash that damages drive mechanisms and fries up the laser after attempts to read unofficial or scratched up disks. If reliability in playing games off disks is heavily important, then the SCPH-9000x model is the first choice (SCPH-7700x model from 2006 and SCPH-7900x model from 2007 are fairly decent as well). If there's one slim model I try to avoid, it's the SCPH-7500x from 2005 since it has the most compatibility issues with numerous PS1 titles and certain PS2 titles after Sony replaced the PS1 MIPS R300A CPU providing hardware based PS1 emulation with Deckard (PowerPC CPU providing software based PS1 emulation) as a cost cutting maneuver and the replacement of the CPU affected the system's software (Sony updated the BIOS in the 2006 model SCPH-7700x to fix most of these compatibility issues with PS1 titles and PS2 titles and the SCPH-7900x model from 2007 is basically the lighter version of SCPH-7700x after increased changes to the design of the hardware).
Thanks for sharing.

A wise and very well respected statement in my opinion. Personally I couldn't have been definitive about it until now because I spent my first real amount of time using a dual sense this week. And with all the hype that got I had to keep an open mind but man I think that the GameCube still is the best ergonomically and has the best intuitive player control.

The malfunctioning devices were NEVER dropped. This THIRD nano sadly was dropped -one time- and it works fine after replacing the memory card. I could see that being confusing as I didn't state that and this unit was used as demo console for this video. Man, I regret saying anything negative about this thing.. it's turned into, I throw my devices around, I abuse my tech and I'm so stupid and that's why I throw things around all the time. This specific device is actually fully functioning finally and I still use it in videos. It's not comfortable to play games on in my case, it seems to have faulty units from the 3 total units I personally obtained. Sorry but I'm very surprised at how many people hate that I'm simply not a fan of these and received and received a few faulty units before this one and felt overall negative about the unit. I'm happy if you enjoy yours.

I haven't had this problem. It's my go to Pokemon player
Same original game boy and gbc Pokémon works great on this thing
You make a point it is good for pokémon. I got my 1st two from third party sellers. The third one works fine. I'm just not a big fan of using it compared to other handhelds. People sure have been freaking out at me though and saying I'm an idiot liar for posting this LOL
@@BlindReflex People are opinionated. I think it’s definately a niche product. @retrogamecorps does a great review and re-review of it, pointing out that it can be very useful for one-handed play and turn based rpgs are good for that.
Yes sir, I saw that video. He initially made a negative review about it, then he made a video about how it's a good Pokemon machine, after the heavy backlash from buyers. I don't hate the thing. It looks really cool and it's definitely a conversation piece. But I regret getting one as somebody who doesn't play the old Pokemon games much and wants to experience all of the emulators that the device is capable of without compromising heavily on control. I regret how much time I've put into getting a good one. Thanks for not attacking me or shitting on my opinion. I think you make good points and I'm happy that you enjoy using yours.
@@calebcretella2472I'm happy yours didn't have a problem. Did you flash a new OS on a new memory card right after you bought it? When I did that with this third unit I purchased I haven't had a problem since. I just got fed up with the extra work involved in having a working unit. Also I bought the first two from third-party sellers that may have been returned faulty units. So it goes deeper than they all suck and that's all there is to it. It's hard to put all the information into a short. Maybe I'll make a longer video with more details regarding my opinion not to get one.
How does it play on wwf no mercy

Thank you for not shiting on my opinion. I'm happy yours works well if you have one and I hope you enjoy it if you've already spent the money. I do think it's a cool conversation piece. I just don't enjoy using it anymore.
The Slim boys scratch disks though. I know there are fixes but no one knows about it until you see scratches on your disks 😢😢
I still have my 2 slims (SCPH-70012 from 2004 and SCPH-79001 from 2007) and none of them have scratched my disks. SCPH-7900x PS2 slims don't scratch disks since the ribbon cable is mounted with sturdy plastic material instead of adhesive glue like the other slims (SCPH-700xx, SCPH-7500x, SCPH-7700x, and SCPH-9000x)
