If you are on Santorini for a couple days, definitely spend one in Oia/Ammoudi Bay; Ammoudi was a dream!! So beautiful! From Fira you can hike; it will take you 3-4hrs approximately. We opted for the bus which is only 2 euro and takes about 20 minutes. Thank you to @thoughtfultravels_ on Instagram for showing us Brula the kitty, SO CUTE!!! You are right you definitely missed out by not spending at least one night. Though it's pretty quiet after dark. It's nice to get up early and spend time on Phra Nang beach before the day trip crowds arrive. The longest I spent in Ao Nang is 6 hours back in April as a day trip from Railay for Songkran.
Next time we visit, we'll definitely spend at least one night! We love Ao Nang, it's a nice balance of everything! Thank you for watching!

@@siat11 We were just there, it's more expensive in Toronto 😜. I also just read an article discussing the tourism there. The locals agree it's busy during the day with tourists from the cruise ships but from the late afternoon and the evening is quiet. @kasiainwonderland No need for explanations. The island is suffocating with mass tourism and can't handle the number of tourists that visit yearly. You can publish what you want, but the truth remains. Too much rubbish. Not enough infrastructure...many problems.

@@siat11 again, I was just there. Busy during the day by the cable cars and a bit more so in Oia, Amoudi bay was quiet, and Fira quiet in the evening never any issues getting a seat a bar or restaurant and lots of hotels available to book. We spoke with bar staff near the cable cars to the cruise ships. And they even said this year is quieter than previous.

It’s Achilles heel is the small room size which means there is little or no seating in the rooms. Yes, the hotel is newer than most, but it will age quickly. Then they’ll have a worn out hotel as well as small rooms. All done just so they can make a bit more money on the rare occasions when the hotel is at capacity.
