This movie flew under the radar, despite being directed by Clint Eastwood. With a simple but clever plot, this courtroom drama capped off a pretty dismal 2024. Is the verdict out on this film, or is the jury still deciding? Before you watch, check out my spoiler free review for Juror #2!

The incredibly unique, but currently underperforming, true story of British pop star Robbie Williams hit theaters last week. Reviews seem pretty split, so I wanted to add my voice to the mix. Does originality win the heart of the audience, or was there just too much monkeying around? Before you watch, check out my spoiler free review for Better Man!

    I didn't even notice that was Russell Crow wow!. I wish I could just take out the mobster father and son's story and put it in a movie like The Equaliser, John Wick. (Throw away the rest of the movie) Or even have (no powers) but at a big mobster event people wear animal masks that is meant to have some sort of symbolism to their character. Overall I gave it a 4/30

    M Knight: “It’s a funny , playful, movie.” Hartnett: “I had so much fun on this movie! Walking the line between comedy and drama was a challenge, trying to play a serial killer that you love.” But go ahead, take the film seriously. Picking apart a film whose tongue in cheek tone and preposterous concept conflicts with your expectations is too bad. With that perspective you’ve missed a really good time at the movies 😁

    • @peterbitz2831
      @peterbitz2831 4 місяці тому

      @@mgariepy42 I'm glad you enjoyed the movie! (I think... although there's less of you sharing your thoughts and more of you just making fun of mine. But to each their own 😅) To be fair it sounds like we had the same thoughts, to an extent. In my review I talk about how I laughed multiple times and how Hartnett did very well in the movie. But I review films objectively, not with the perspective that the director hopes the audience will have with it. Because that rarely is the case. It's not that I didn't enjoy parts of the movie; it's that there were moments of huge missed potential that would have been extremely easy to implement, and kept the same attitude that Shyamalan desired for it to have. "Funny and playful" are not a substitute for good story telling, and there is a large portion of movie goers who shared my perspective on that. Glad you had a good time though!

    Last time I played the games that caustic caverns was buried under sanctuary and wasn’t connected with bloodshot stronghold that was in a different location both in the movie felt like it was filmed in an abandoned warehouse . And how stupid that Tiny Tina , Tannis and the psycho was by walking into an awaiting trap and didn’t bother to scan the area of any possible life whatsoever. The final act was obviously rushed to move the story on quickly and hardly had no monsters of pandora to fight . Lastly: they made the psycho a bumbling idiot by having him clapping and laughing when that wasn’t in his nature from the games it was such a disappointment.

    I agree. At one point i thought that the wife was going to be in on it and they were going to be a team. I would be interested in hearing what your ideas on where the movie could hace gone. Really interesting idea witch i haven't seen before, that sadly goes no where. I believe he wrote the movie for his daughter who plays the singer in the movie

    • @peterbitz2831
      @peterbitz2831 5 місяців тому

      Yeah, that was one of the ideas! 1: The trailer shows nothing, and the first half of the movie keeps you in the dark until you find out that Cooper actually is the Butcher. 2: Cooper isn't alone, his family actually is in on the killings, and the whole thing was a setup to have a high profile murder. And my favorite; 3: Cooper is being framed as the Butcher, and is racing to prove his innocence by catching the real Butcher. Could be a coworker, or someone who knows that Cooper has access to all of these empty houses being a firefighter. He has to find a way to stay hidden from the Dr, while hunting down the actual Butcher, and try to keep his daughter safe in the process. Things come to head when the Butcher kidnaps his wife and son, and Cooper has to follow the same path in kidnapping Lady Raven in order to get out of the concert and save his family. I feel like any one of those would have made a better movie, and still been clever. Yeah, it definitely felt like this movie was less about making something good, and more about advertising his daughter as an artist. 😅 Could have done both, but here we are.

    • @jameelhill9503
      @jameelhill9503 5 місяців тому

      @@peterbitz2831 I really like 3 and 4. Would have been interesting if somehow he worked out (without telling the audience yet) that his daughter is the butcher (maybe he worked it out because is a psychopath too) but to us the audience his trying to get out. While in fact his trying to get his daughter out who doesn't notice the walls closing around here with been too young, too distracted. Lots of ideas that could have been. Look forward to seeing your take on other movies

    Wow thanks for putting my thoughts into words! We had free passes so that is a bonus. I am older and wanted this western to rebirth the genre......but with the sequel delayed perhaps indefinitely that wont happen. The lack of any cohesive timeline really tanked this movie. I was left wondering if the second settling of Horizon birthed Kevin Costner's character......was that a flash back???? But he has nothing to do with the Indians? Is there a flashback at all? They spent some time making Nathan a likeable character and someone you'd like to see develop (i thought this was costners character) but then kill him right off. Who is the kid riding away....is that costners character????? who the hell is he because i do not remember any other boys other than nathan and the big dumb kid. Mom and Elizabeth are an interesting arc......however once Mom and the lieutenant kiss you have to wonder how much time has passed since her husband and son died.....its kind of early isn't it because Elizabeth isn't that much older.....then my opinion of Mom just took a huge hit......at least in dances with wolves we knew there was a length of time before the grieving widow realized her feelings...... Anyways i am invested as you are, but i doubt we see any of the others......just a simple timeline.....and pace with 3 other movies coming out would have made it better

    • @peterbitz2831
      @peterbitz2831 6 місяців тому

      Sounds like we had a lot of the same thoughts! 😊 The example of the Mom moving on was exactly the one I was thinking of when talking about that. I want to say that after the kid rode for the whole night to get away, that he ended up riding into the fort. I never saw him after that though, which seems like a miss. There were so many details to keep track of, it almost seemed like Coster lost sight of some, and the audience did as well. Maybe he'll tie everything together in part two?

    Wow. Nitpicked to death. And most of your objections are ridiculous. Proximus was taught by the male human. He taught him Julius Caesar which he what led Proximus to style his stuff in early Roman gear. And become warlike. Not to mention Proximus isn’t wrong for wanting the weapons inside the bunker. He knows if the humans get it, they’d use it against the apes. Which, we absolutely would. Noah was a young, sheltered ape. He learns things the hard way. That things aren’t black and white. Mae was on a mission that went wrong. She prioritized human goals which is what anyone would do. You don’t seem to understand the soul of this franchise - which is show a new, intelligent and struggling species.

      Sounds like you enjoyed the movie; That's great! Reviewers can tend to feel nitpicky, especially when you disagree with the review, so I definitely understand why you feel that way! Yeah all the things you said, I am aware of. Doesn't change the things I pointed out in my review. I'm not missing the point or the soul of the franchise (which is kind of up to the individual viewer anyway?), I just think the first two films were better! Thanks for sharing your thoughts! If everyone's perspectives of films were the same, the world would be a boring place!

    I thought your review was thoughtful and made several good points. I saw it last week, and I enjoyed it more than you did, I suppose because Alan Ritchson and Henry Cavill are two of my favorite actors, and the inclusion of Ian Fleming for the James Bond "origin" I found intriguing. I enjoyed it, but I have to agree that the stakes should have been higher, and the Nazis should have been more of an obstacle for the heroes. I might watch it again when it's streaming on Netflix or Prime in a couple of years.
