The Mermaid Inn, Rye - An Aerial Tour
The Mermaid Inn is a historic 600 year old Inn in the medieval town of Rye, East Sussex near the top of the cobbled Mermaid Street.
The Cellars date from 1156 and the building was rebuilt in 1420 after The Mermaid and the Town of Rye were burnt to the ground by French Raiders on June 22nd 1377.
The Mermaid Inn offers a totally unique experience - sloping ceilings, creaking floorboards and numerous staircases, which are the product of history and a rich tradition that is maintained by careful stewardship. Experience a drink in the Giant’s Fireplace Bar and imagine how the Hawkhurst Gang, local smugglers in the 1730s and 1740s, caroused in the bar.

The DJI Mini 4 Pro has amazing image quality, but at night using a high ISO of 16000 the default noise reduction of zero is very aggressive, wiping a lot of detail and causing a smearing effect. Using HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) at night (only in areas with a lot of lighting though) gives great results, but I would agree with Philip Bloom that you're better off turning the NR down to minus 2 and the...

Flying the DJI Mini 4 Pro at night - to the O2 Arena from the Greenwich Peninsula - using the HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) 10 bit colour profile results in some pleasing results. My Mini 4 Pro was recently replaced due to a fault with the GPS. After initially replacing it with an aircraft with a faulty sensor, I eventually got a new one. Amazing shots. Was this straight out of camera or did you color grade it?
Only a little light grading. I also shoot with sharpness at -2 and then sharpen as appropriate in post.
Very inspiring video. A lot of work went into it. It clearly shows how waypoints and hyperlaps can be used. Super. I'd love to see more.

It's a combination of 300% more rain than the Feb average and removal of trees whose roots hold the soil together I suspect. That cliff has been there for around 800 years.

I actually stayed in Rye the very first time we went to the UK about 40 years ago. We stayed in an old hotel that was supposed to be haunted. The bathroom was down the hallway… nice to see Rye again , this time from the air
It's a lovely area to live in. Have a little listen to the Rye podcast (Ryecast) by James Stewart. He's a great interviewer. I am on one of the early episodes.

Nicely done I was trying to figure out how you did the transition. So you had the waypoint course set up and then you flew your drone at night to the middle of the waypoints rather than start at waypoint 1. I’m going to try that.
I flew the whole thing day and night so that I have plenty of footage to choose from. Also, do it more than once for each pass as the waypoints can drift a little so not always perspective accurate. More passes = more chances of matching up.
Did you use nightmare for night shots? I kept trying nightmode for waypoint mission but as soon as it started it reverted back to normal mode
@@jfnuzum100 I had that exact same problem actually. I had to pause and change to nightmode. However, I always shoot HDR now as that appears to give better results. Make sure to turn the sharpness down to -2 though and the NR as well

It's Marine Court in St. Leonards. Built in the 1930s and modelled after an ocean liner of the time.
The thought just occurred to me while watching this piece.....that a third daybreak clip could be shot and spliced in at the end.....day to night and then the new day with daylight coming back.

This is badass. The raw footage is incredible I posted a Detroit downtown video and I used. Cap cut and I paid for an upgraded version yet it did not export it in 4k UHD it kicked it down to SD and I did not know when I posted to UA-cam and I am very upset and I didn't realize till way later that it was not true 4K it still looks great but I need to change the description I was bamboozled or just did not take the time to realize

What is HLG? I know it’s a color profile on the Fly App. I mean, can you explain it, and when I would use it as a recreational flyer? Thanks.
HLG is a "hybrid" format that enables the output of HDR (High Dynamic Range) images similar to HDR10. It is an option available with the mini 4 Pro. Some say it is every bit as good if not better than DLog M and Night mode isn't necessarily the best to use at night as whilst good for most flyers some Pro's comments suggest it introduces too much noise. Food for thought!
I have found that HLG is great for everything but very low light. D-LogM cleans up better and has less noise at night. Check my video of Bedgebury - didn't use Night Mode at all, it's mostly D-LogM.
@@clearairflying Both HLG and D-Log M require post production color grading thought, right?
@@MrPlaneTalk HLG barely needs anything tbh. It becomes tricky to match if you shoot both on the same mission so best to pick one for a task and stick to it.

It’s not in HLG HDR. Might just be UA-cam taking time to process it or could be how you’ve uploaded the video file.
