    Method 3 and 4 are the same. In 3 if you just twist the strap thats pretzeled. It ends up lookings like #4. Trust me. I have to use sling and restraints on all the pipework I use in the oilpatch. These slings have different ratings and uses. But the splicing is all the same.

    It might look fun but apparently unless you've got a immaculate ride that you don't mind getting a little bit dirty they don't want or need you anywhere close to their place. My best friend found out first hand in his '97 Wrangler sport. They told him it wasn't old enough to ride they're trails. I'm calling BS!!!

    I would only use a hard block and Crosby shackle, in my opinion the only use for soft shackles is for joining straps.

    I am not a fan of soft shackles with the exception of joining straps. I use Crosby bow shackles to attach to my tree strap or vehicle anchor. The weakest link on mine is my synthetic winch line or the winch.

    If you knot up your tow strap you can get the knot out by banging the knot with a hammer against concrete. You have to keep turning it and working at it but it will work. Great video

    Hi l watch the video on the fatality that was all over the internet. The calculations with the truck plus being in mud was 18000 lbs. I have a 2010 Ram 3500 mega cab. Will your mega Shackle work albeit rated for 16000. I want to use my truck for pulling medium size trees on my property and for helping someone who l may find stuck and to tear a old double wide mobile home apart. I'm looking at the 30 foot kienetic rope as well?

    Shackles very very very seldom fail don't understand why people take the chance adding a soft shackle that like we saw in the wrecker games and many other channels fail and tear up stuff especially when connected to a snatch rope

    • @GearAmerica
      @GearAmerica Рік тому

      If I am pulling out a stuck Jeep, soft shackles are great. There are many situations that require heavier gear, and all recoveries are different. I carry gear for just about every situation I can think of, and there are MANY times I prefer a hard shackle hitch receiver over a soft shackle on my bumper. Wrecker games was put on by "professional youtubers" trying to get views. When I'm out in the middle of the night on a rescue mission, or providing assistance in a potentially deadly wreck or rollover, the last thing I am worrying about is filming it. Properly assess EVERY situation the best you can, and use gear accordingly.

    • @DependableAutoTruck
      @DependableAutoTruck Рік тому

      @@GearAmerica good point. I am just scared of the soft shackles. Guess one reason is I own a older Holmes 500 wrecker which will break wire rope if fouled. Guess I am just over worried about them breaking and know there isn't much chance breaking steel shackles. Thanks for the work and effort sharing info to us
