Переглядів 1,2 тис.6 місяців тому
In this video I go over the resistance check of the high speed CAN networks and what exactly that shows you.
Testing Variable Valve Timing Operation by Looking at Cam and Crank Signals (Picoscope)
Переглядів 9497 місяців тому
In this video I verify the proper operation of the variable valve timing on a 2014 Explorer by scoping the cam and crank signals.
Looking at Cam and Crank Position Signals to Verify Timing (Good Test For Variable Valve Timing Too)

In this video we look at cam crank correlation and how to use it to see if timing is correct. I discuss how this test can be used to verify variable valve timing operation.
Using Data Logging to Analyze Volumetric Efficiency
Переглядів 2387 місяців тому
In this video I show you how to use the OBDLink MX to log data for volumetric efficiency calculations.
Using Data Logging to Analyze Data for Mass Airflow, Fuel Trims, and Lambda Sensors
Переглядів 4067 місяців тому
In this video I use the OBDLink MX to log data about the fuel delivery system. I then use excel to analyze the data and find out if the MAF sensor is working properly, if the fuel trims look good and if the lambda sensors look good.
Setting Up the OBDLink MX+ for Data Logging
Переглядів 5877 місяців тому
In this video I go over how to setup your app for the MX so that you capture the correct information in a data log.
Example of a Bad In Cylinder Pressure Waveform (2014 Honda Pilot Lack of Power-Backpressure)
Переглядів 5177 місяців тому
This is a quick video showing an in cylinder pressure waveform from a 2014 Honda Pilot that lacked power. You can see in the waveform that the exhaust back pressure was as high as 40 indicating a plugged exhaust. Catalytic converter was completely plugged up.
Diagnosing Engine Performance Issues Using an In Cylinder Pressure Transducer (Detailed Analysis)

Diagnosing a Misfire 2006 Ford F150 5.4L Using the Crank Sensor and Picoscope Math Channels
Переглядів 8387 місяців тому
In this video I diagnose a misfire when there are no codes being set by the computer. I use the Picoscope to capture the Crank signal and the ignition off cylinder 1 and then using math channels determine the misfiring cylinder.
How to Set Up Your NVH Toolkit and Software (OBDLink MX+ as Passthrough)
Переглядів 7807 місяців тому
In this video I show you how to set up the NVH tools from Picoscope while using the OBDLink MX as the passthrough device. This can be difficult if you are using Windows 11. I go through what you need to do to overcome that hurdle.
Looking at Current Draw of DC Motors Using a Picoscope (2010 Malibu Power Windows)
Переглядів 2887 місяців тому
In this video, I go over how to capture a waveform for a DC motor current, and analyze it for RPM, current draw, and condition of commutators and brushes.
CAN Bus Diagnostics 3 (shorts and opens on module with no termination resistor) 2007 Toyota Camry
Переглядів 2129 місяців тому
In my last video I had a question on whether or not the shorts or opens on the network would change based on if they were at modules that had termination resistors or didn’t have. This video looks at that.
CAN Bus Diagnostics 2 (Opens and Shorts) 2007 Toyota Camry Using the Picoscope
Переглядів 4099 місяців тому
In a previous video I intentionally shorted and opened the CAN bus on a 2013 Ford Fiesta to see what it did to the network waveform. This time I did it on a 2007 Camry to see if the results were the same. They were not.

I too, got a P0340 code (intake camshaft position sensor circuit) after changing my ICM on my 2.2L Ecotec. The ICM that I bought was a cheap Chinese knock-off ($28). It may not have the Ion Sensing Technology mentioned in the video. I don't have a camshaft position sensor on the side of my engine.

How do you know its not a vacuum leak? Is it possible that the MAF is dirty?

    • @hunterautomotive4842
      @hunterautomotive4842 7 днів тому

The MAF should still track with RPM even with a vacuum leak. The MAF could be dirty but in my experience cleaning one rarely if ever works. You can always try it first.

Except that's not the continuity setting. Continuity is the sound or wifi looking sign. You set into ohms, the same sign thats on the red lead. ua-cam.com/users/shortsdqCIx06oeNg?si=y5QnmYxGX4-QShHR

    • @hunterautomotive4842
      @hunterautomotive4842 15 днів тому

Actually continuity is testing for a continuous path with low resistance. Notice when you turn on the buzzer you’re still reading ohms. The buzzer just makes the test audible for convenience purposes especially when your in a tight spot under a dash or something and it’s hard to do the test and read the meter at the same time.

50x pulses im 10ms? Doesnt sound right or the china tester box is mislabeled etc One pulse is anywhere from 2-20millseconds long i.e how long injector is open and spraying. 10 milliseconds x 50 = 500 millseconds which is half a second and your test was 4-10seconds long. And listening to the audio sounds more like 20-50 pulses. The typical injector pulse width for an idling engine at normal operating temperature is between 2.5 and 3.5 ms. typical pulse width is 2 to 4 milliseconds at idle and as high as 15 to 18 milliseconds at wide-open throttle. But maybe the tester is telling you open time on injector of 10ms but not time between pulses so could be 250 milliseconds in-between puleses tgat last 10ms long

Ford Cologne 2.8l engine for reference. There are 4 cam bearings of 4 different diameters. The outside bearings are larger than the 2 inner bearings. To remove them you have to place your cam tool all the way through the engine until it contacts an outer bearing. Press that one out. Then move back into the engine to the inner bearing. Tighten your tool and press that one out. The inner bearing is smaller than the outside and it will pass through easily. Then remove your cam tool and flip it around through the other side of the engine to remove the other outside bearing. Press it out then back the tool up to the last remaining inner cam bearing. Press it out and again, it will pass through the outer opening easily.

Im definitely a shade tree mech here so I'm no mechanic in that sense of schooling but im learning lambda a/f sensors! They definitely read differently! Great video for a narrow band buddy! Not talking shit bro just it's good to share that info I think

They made cars too complicated. I'm thinking that if the computer and sensors are working properly to maintain the correct AFR, then should I care about a "high" LTFT. Bank 1 is +14% and bank 2 is +12% but the car drives good and there are no codes. STFT alternates between +/-3%. I don't have anything to measure AFR. By the way, I'm not a professional mechanic that has access to all the "toys" (test equipment). But I would like to get the LTFT under 5% and hopefully without breaking the bank.
