Drinks On Subs
Drinks on sub woofers vibrating and eventually falling off. I worked a 3 day event baby sitting sound equipment. Watching drinks fall off the subs became rather entertaining. I only captured 3 on video but there plenty more.

This is the reassembly process after having removed a broken battery tray from a QLXD2 handheld wireless microphone. Shure Part# 95B20857 Camera focus is not great in spots but it's good enough to understand what to do in order to get the repair done. This is the first one I did. Dirt cheap foam cutter made mostly from scrap materials. I purchased a transformer and the NiChrome wire. I used it to make custom cut foam inserts for my wireless microphones and beltpacks. Been fiddling around with this all night. I don't have 160grand to drop on a Fazioli F228, but I did scrape 29 bucks together to buy the Waves Grand Rhapsody plug-in which used the Fazioli in its samples. Wow! Listen to the sustain. Simply beautiful. You can even hear the mechanical action of the keys and the pedals. This is now my go to piano sound.

James, have you tried recording from the HDMI output? It says 1080p 59.94 but when I go to edit, I have duplicate frames. I basically end up at 30fps! Setup is Hero7 with Magewell 2nd Gen USB capture
no I have not. I only used the hdmi out for live stream.

I would really love to see a video on how to disassemble this microphone. I have a couple that need to be repaired and I'm having trouble getting the 4 soldered sections apart
I used a desolder pump on those first to get out as much solder as possible, then put a plastic prybar between the battery tray and the pcb while heating with your solder station and they will pop off.

@@Anton-du-Fleur I ended up using some from Ebay. SC1009N B10K Mono Potentiometer Fader For Soundcraft LIVE4 mixer 128mm They are the right size and work perfectly. I replaced every fader with these and have had zero issues.

8:33 what screw bit is this? I'm trying to repair one and I can't seem to unscrew those ones.
It's a tiny torx bit. My tool is labeled 1.2 x 25mm. I felt mine was maybe a little bit too big, but it worked with firm & even pressure. If there is a size that is SLIGHTLY smaller, it might work better. It came from a macbook or ipad repair job that I did years ago.

Hey James Thanks for the video! any chance that you could give me some tips on replacing the power supply board in one of these? I have removed both side panels and can see the board but it looks like I am going to have to disassemble the entire unit to get to it. That cannot be right!?! any tips, from anyone, would be greatly appreciated!
Craig Jameson. I haven't had to do that repair. I'm no help for you on that one. Hopefully somebody will chime in and offer a tip.
Thanks. after a bunch of head scratching I figured it out. for anyone that needs to know: After removing both side like James did you have to separate the upper and lower halves of the case. to do this remove: 1. the tops of the gain knobs (just pull them straight up) 2. the front row of screws on the underside of the unit 3. the top row of screws on the back of the unit 4. the 4 torx screws that are inline with the gain knobs the top should lift away from the bottom of the unit. I stood the unit on its side and 'opened' it like a clamshell (hinged at the top). be careful as there are several cables and wires that run between the two halves. I pulled the grey ribbon and the large white connector to get a bit more work space but left the others connected. at this point you can easily get to the power supply. Replacing it is about 10 screws and 6 or so connectors.

We have a 24.4.2 mixer. Im having an issue with the 6 fader crossing to the 5 fader. Im a complete amateur and am not certain how to fix it or to know if it needs to be sent in for repair. Any suggestions?
Great video --- I'm having catastrophic failure in nearly all 16 channels of my 16:2 --- maybe replacing the fader banks will be the difference between replacing the whole board or not. ..... Now to figure out where you ordered those parts.

I believe I'm out of luck. Presonus is no longer making replacement parts for Presonus 16.0.2 ---- I did see a store with some fader banks for this model, but for some odd reason they are 7 bank channels...

Lemme ask you something else James --- ... the left side of my tape in RCA is much lower input level than the right side --- I have cleaned the contacts, switched cables (Several times) and have concluded that its perhaps a failing capacitor on the tape in part of the board --- Do you think this is something I can repair myself? I can use Universal Control via my MAC and control the master fader, but physically it doesn't work. If the issue is the same (not asking for remote diagnostic) is the fix similar? Those faders are conductive plastic so if you plan on shooting some spray cleaner/lube in there, you need a plastic safe product. CAIG deoxIT Fader F Series would be suitable.
James, The first 4 channels on my studio live 24 have stopped working. However, the pre-amps are working through the Tascam multi pin outputs on the back. I'm thinking the faders went bad. any ideas? Thanks, Fred
Hi Fred Shaw, sure sounds like it. I would try an ipad on it to see if the fader values change. If they do, then I'd say there is a pretty good chance the fader bank went out on you. If there is no change in fader value, there me be another issue.

I've ordered parts through Full Compass (www.fullcompass.com) and also through Presonus directly. Presonus did offer a reasonable rate on parts and service but I was able to repair myself. Here's their repair link: www.presonus.com/support/repairs
Presonus are terrible customer support though, My Eris 8 speaker broke, contacted Presonus, had one reply then they stopped answering my mails, hopeless.
Give full compass a shot at it. They may be able to serve you better.

Yes, it is a SATA3 drive. Backwards compatible w the sata2 bus.

+crystal ball You can order through Full Compass-in stock---Be aware ch 1-8 is the 8 channel fader bank---the next 3 are all 7 channel faders banks---on fullcompass site it indicates the 7 ch fader is only for 16.4.2, but in checking w presonus it works with 24.4.2 Fader banks are 8,7,7,7 (24 channels, 4 subs, 1 main-total of 29) Cost is around $70 or so....I was able to replace the 7 ch fader at the end of my 24.4.2-not too hard
+crystal ball -- as Greg said. It's tight in there, but doable. I don't have a big arm, I was able to reach into the middle banks as well.
+Greg Percy , thanks, got it out, , orderd the 8 ch bank was wrong, waiting on new part for 4 weeks now, they are back orderd and presonus wont give up whats left in there stock, but they say anytime now.I was able to drop / tilt the bottom panel about a inch or so, that gave me the room to get my not so small hand in there. tricky slipping the part in with the headphone jack there, but , doable. ,had to use a drop of rubber glue to hold insulative strip in place, looked like they used 2 sided tape.thanks again

Nice tut James. How about if the bank you need to replace more toward the center. Is there a way to remove the control surface to gain good access? Would you mind naming the price for a bank of 8 from Baton Rouge.
Thanks. My skinny arm can get in there to replace any bank. I did consider removing the surface panel. From my observation, I think you'd need to remove the 5 screws in the back (above xlr inputs), just the top screws on both metal side panels, the trim knobs (they are connected to a diagonally mounted pc), the screws at the bottom of console that go into the silver panel (that the headphone jack is mounted in) the wires to the power supply, the headphone jack wire connector and the ribbon cable that connects to the pc underneath the display.

I've had a dozen or more computers over the years and done various upgrades to boost speed, usually by installing max ram, and yeah I got results, but this SSD upgrade is the single best improvement I've ever seen. I do mobile 24 track recording on my MBP and haven't had a hiccup since the SSD upgrade. Had plenty before. Happy upgrading.
Great. I just ordered an SSD for my 2006 MBP as well. I hope I can get the same results as you! Those results are fantastic. Specially cause I'm a keyboard player but I had several lag when trying to play with MainStage, Hope that this improves the overall results. Thanks. It really helped me.
