    It's an evaporator not a condenser inside the house

  • @kristfur
    @kristfur 14 днів тому

    Was looking for the opposite. I have had terrible breathing problems in my house ever since I moved in 2 years ago. I think I've had everything done, except replace the entire HVAC. I've had all kinds of mold inspectors, HVAC repair people, Air quality inspectors, etc. No one can find the problem. I've had all the attic ducts replaced, HVAC coil replaced, new boxes, returns replaced, insulation replaced, UV light, Dehumid installed, whole home filter, absolutely nothing has improved anything. No one has any answers. When I leave my house, I'm completely fine. When I go back, the tightness in my lungs returns. If I knew 100% that replacing the HVAC would fix everything I would fork over the $25k, but if I do that and it fixes nothing then I'm broke and no funds to fix whatever it is. Any suggestions welcome.

      Sounds frustrating. Also sounds like something environmental. Consider taking to your Dr. or a functional medical provider. They should be able to help you figure out what you're looking for. It might be more productive than trying to find random things wrong in your home. Best of luck.

    So what’s the point in fogging if you have a heppa and carbon air filter. Doesn’t the fog get just bring the air born pathogens to the ground ?

    • @reliableremediation
      @reliableremediation 2 місяці тому

      Some companies are JUST fogging, which only knocks down airborne particulate. THAT is the problem we are highlighting. It is NOT remediation.

  • @leroygreen1877

    Can a fogger be useful after remediation (removal of material) to kill any airborn mold?

    • @reliableremediation
      @reliableremediation 2 місяці тому

      great question! the standard for mold remediation is removal because our bodies don't know the difference between live and dead mold. This is especially important to those with sensitivities. Fogging can be useful for knocking airborne particulate out of the air for clean up by HEPA vacuum or moist wipe. From the mold remediation standard: 4.4 Contamination Removal Physically removing mold contamination is the primary means of remediation. Mold contamination should physically be removed from the structure, systems, and contents to return them to Condition 1 (defined as a normal indoor fungal ecology). Attempts to kill, encapsulate, or inhibit mold instead of proper source removal are generally not adequate. (S520 pg. 18) 12.1.7 Misting Misting is a method of atomizing water or other aqueous solutions into the air for the purpose of controlling airborne and surface particulates during remediation. Remediators may consider misting for dust suppression and clean-up purposes. Remediators should not mist or fog disinfectants or sanitizers in an attempt to kill mold in lieu of source removal. Remediators should employ adequate engineering controls to limit the release or spread of mold or spores within the work environment. (S520 pg. 45)

I love the 5 questions you recommended for your client to ask the adjuster, this lays it out perfectly for the client to get a lot of "Ummmmm" responses from the adjuster! Please let me know what it means when I see frost on the nails on the roof sheath from the face of the attic?. I also see some blackish areas of the roof boards. Not sure if it is mold or just dampness / discoloration. Can send you the pictures if it helps with the diagnosis.

    • @reliableremediation
      @reliableremediation Рік тому

      @kwan ang - frost on nails and sheathing is usually an indication that too much heat from the living space below is escaping into the attic during cold weather. The black moisture staining may be from the same issue and may or may not be microbial in nature). Ensure you have the right amount of insulation, there are no gaps in insulation, and look for places where air can easily escape into the attic e.g. uninsulated whole house fans, recessed lighting, the attic access panel or ladder, and gaps around utilities.

    • @tompem
      @tompem Рік тому

      My builder told me that frost on the nails is a sign of lack of ventilation.

    • @reliableremediation
      @reliableremediation Рік тому

      @@tompem ventilation is one of the the most common factors. If heat gets into a cold attic, good ventilation will get it out. BUT, wouldn't it be more prudent to air seal and insulate the attic so heat stays in the living space and DOESN'T need to be ventilated out?🤔

      This drywall was removed. We HEPA-vacuumed it before tearing it out to reduce the amount of mold becoming airborne.

    • @brandonmcneil1937
      @brandonmcneil1937 Рік тому

      @Reliable Remediation wouldn't running the bristles over the mold create more disturbance though? There's over a million mold spores on a surface area the size of a pin head. Using a Sawzall or a kett saw would greatly reduce the mold dispersion because rather that agitating every square inch of mold (which is what's happening when you touch said mold with the vacuum attachment) you only agitate the space that's touched by the blade and it does a much better job of isolating the spread of those particles. I'm not here to question your tactics, just be careful doing that because you could get a hefty fine that way. Plus, it creates a greater risk of the mold spreading even farther and potentially making the post remediation cleanup alot longer. Just some tips I've learned. You can take them or leave them. Over my 9 year career as a mold remediation tech and now a manager I've failed 1 job out of probably a ywhere between 350-375. And the job I did fail barely failed because I was working in an 1100 square foot containment and I forgot to change the filter on one of my big air scrubbers.

I was a project manager for one of the franchises and I called the workers back to a house one day after they left because after they put the voids in the wall behind the baseboards to let the air flow get between the sheet rock, they left all their debris on the floor and when I called them back to the house they called the owner and then the owner called me. He said we don't clean those messes up, the homeowner does . I quit 2 days later. I will never have my name on a job that's left like that.
