This was one of the more unique performances entered into the Spring Arts Festival. This song isn't one I could ever think of as ballad-like and christmasy, yet here we are. Entrants into the festival range from National Symphony Orchestras to simple enthusiasts like this. Users have suggested that I should enter myself which is a scary but intriguing proposition.

That time of year is upon us again, the April Spring Arts Festival. Which is effectively the North Korean version of the Eurovision Song Contest. In Laos' entry this year, several Korean songs were performed, including the first DPRK song I fell in love with. Her pronunciation is not splendid, but she does a good job considering she is all alone onstage.

Sounds like a 1970s anime song, but with a stalinist edge. Despite the awfulness underlying the whole thing, you have to admit this song is actually pretty well constructed and the video itself very well choreographed and shot. One can enjoy it on a technical level, Even though on a moral level it's pretty awful due to its politics.
