Granddaddy loved technology almost as much as he loved his family. If he attended one your games, recitals, or birthday parties, you could be sure he brought his video camera. Did you go on a family vacation? He was going to make you wave at the camera.
Aunt Betty asked me to convert his VHS tapes and make them available to the rest of the family. I am now converting a trunk full of 8MM film. Do you recognize someone in one of the videos? Remember a story from one of the trips? Let us know in the comments.

They must have been Rich cuz cameras back then costed a leg
HANG ON TO THAT MAT unless you wanted to get banged up pretty bad - that concrete hurt!
Where on 17 was this? What is there now?
It's no longer there. It's was on the farthest south end of Ocean Blvd, between Springmaid Beach (now Doubletree Hilton) and the entrance to Market Common (old Air Force Base). It's still a vacant lot.
@@inletseaster They had 2 locations. The one here is actually the one in NMB near House of Blues.
Loved this place as a Kid. If my memory is right each slide had a name (think one was the Wild One Maybe?) but not sure. Can anybody remember?
Is this the park that had the batting cages beside it?
Nostalgia is running strong on this one. Lake of the Ozarks. Summer of '82. I was 6 and no more than 35 pounds. I remember how the board wobbled back and forth beneath my knees, then my feet. Popping up on that thing with my scrawny popsicle stick legs was no joke! 😂 It's cool that you have a video.
Spent a lot of time on those slides
What I loved about the 80s water parks were the lack of safety regulations! :D No waiting until the last rider was at the bottom, let's go three at once! XD
Oh YES! When I tell you the nasty scrapes I got from slipping off of that foam mat half way down those slides, lol! XD This was my first water park.
i lived Honolulu 84 to 85 in the Army and 87 to 88 in Waikiki as a civilian....I vaguely remember the guy with the parrot maybe....there were a lot of that type of hustlers in Waikiki back then....they had a lot of poor souls on the streets day and night handing out paper flyers for bars and places to eat...one guy who handed out flyers was an Elvis clone who was in his fifties with the black shoe polish in his hair in the hot sun every day across the street from Fort De Russey....
I love fashion shows from the 80's please post more thank u.
I was born that same year. Thanks for sharing
Thomas and Jenny's Wedding Reception
Thomas the sacred phone and Jenny the red crab's wedding
Nice video
Memory lane. Key thing was, don’t fall off the mat.
Wasn’t the steep slide with the plastic board that you sit on called the rampage? I was scared to go down it but once I did, I loved it
Yep, it was Rampage. They had them at both the north and south locations.
I remember the first time I went down I lost my matt...I was skinned from head to toe...lol Good times. That's when living at the beach was fun...I was there from 1980-2003
This park was very successful for many years. Myrtle Beach Grand Prix was across the street. A10 Warthogs circling overhead with a Piedmont Airlines flight mixed in every now and then. Good times
unfortunately, this was the one that was up in NMB near where House of Blues is now

I like your shots! Nice video. 👍
This is incredible to see. Thank you, Ryan!
8:21 the show of thank me later
Bro’s having a blast just rolling around in the grass. Childhood joy and innocence something you can never get back.
It is so cool to know that we were there the same time you guys were. We went through Hurricane Bob as well.
I was there in June, 1985. Was breakdancing on Waikiki with the local boys, stayed at the Outrigger Waikiki main, no smartphones just a Kodak camera, C110 film, postage stamps, go to the ABC store to develop film. envelopes and postcards.. you're in Hawaii, life was good!!
2nd Day of the Tune Machine Showtape.
Thanks for sharing, brings back childhood memories.
2018 anyone? 😋
I survived hurricane Bob in July of 85 too. We were at 28th Ave North in Myrtle Beach.
Nice. I was in Hawaii in 1985 and stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Nowadays that guy hawking pictures would get reported in the social media as a possible scam and most people probably wouldn't even give him that much time to do his sales pitch. I think that's Al Harrington doing the performance before the kids choir.
I never been to chucky e cheese but this is adorable
I rode this in 1977. Those mats were heavy for a kid! It's hard to believe now it was made of concrete. After a full day your knees, elbows and feet were rubbed raw. Great memories though!
I go to meyzeek now 7th grade prisms 2017
Bandanna Bandit aye slim shout out to meyzeek
No longer there, but I do remember my brother and I going there each summer.
Tell that coach to chill!
Is this still there n Myrtle or long gone?
According to this page (htomc.dns2go.com/myrtle/) it is not.
Long gone for many years!!!
I don't remember doing this at all, but looked like we ha fun.
