    How much would be a fair price to have a professional do this ? I had a clean it recently that got got back to to me with a $1700 figure😮, I priced a chamber kit at $250.

    • @MainelyDIY
      @MainelyDIY 11 місяців тому

      They might double the price of the chamber kit but 25% extra is more reasonable. Add in their labor rate for an hour plus travel time and that should you give you a good estimate of that cost

    • @stevemurray710
      @stevemurray710 10 місяців тому

      About 5 years ago guy said $750. Subsequent years he never mentioned that I need it replaced. Not sure if I didn't need it or if he's hoping $$ furnace fails? Is 20 years now but not Maine so I think I only go through 700 gallons a year. Maybe that's a 12 year Maine equivalent. Sides seem to tipping, back I'll have to check more for holes.

    You should disable the burner by removing the power to the cad cell relay or remove the nozzle line from the assembly nothing like staring at the business end of the burner when someone accidentally turns the switch back on.

    Think I could go a winter without a insulation chamber? Or parts of one? I can’t afford to replace it and just spent 2 days cleaning this damn thing. I know it’s to stop fire from touching the metal but i wouldn’t think it should corrode through in a years time.

    • @MainelyDIY

      Running your boiler without the insulation chamber is a huge no no. At best you'd likely end up replacing the whole boiler-very expensive. It's a safety hazard.

    Thank you, in process of cleaning my Weil McLain boiler, so clogged! But I haven't cleaned it in a while and been using the boiler for hot water as well so it's been running extra and in the summer time. My insulation isn't as bad as yours yet so I have time to find and order the kit, maybe will do it mid season and clean out the vents again when I do it. Thanx so much for this vid, wear a mask but I'm glad you didn't so I could understand your words better! Nice editing, the music goes well with it! OK, back to my cleaning project!

    reason for fiberglass blanket in a boiler firebox floor?

    • @dannythebeerman
      @dannythebeerman 2 роки тому

      It's not fiberglass, it's ceramic blanket. And it's a good question about questioning blanketing the floor. Why clean the floor? One does more damage vaccuming, sweeping which tears up the blanket. A moderate amount of soot and debris would provide insulation. I now have a Buderus with a swing tight fitting door, much easier to clean, there isn't insulation on the floor.

    • @jspinosa50
      @jspinosa50 2 роки тому

      @@dannythebeerman I get very little debri on the blanket so I don't think that's the reason. Also, I remove the blanket when before cleaning.
