My 2016 Ford Focus ST caught on fire last Saturday night unexpectedly on my way home. Really sucks.

Originally was going to do 10 things I love about it but narrowed it down to 5! Band in the beginning is We Are Funhouse. Not to bad for my second video.

How did you get the wind out of the video? I have a GoPro7 and mount it on the hood and the wind in the video is HORRIBLE! I did the pro tune setting and no help.

I had a 2013 st. It was nothing but problems. It had a bad habit of melting wires.
Can happen to any car.. it only takes a disturb wire to short, or a component failure that overheats and melts. I always carry a medium fire extinguisher under my passenger front seat. It may not be enough, but it gives me solace knowing it's there. Sorry about your car though dude. I assume the insurance coughed up a replacement?

Glad you are ok. I am so sorry that your st burnt down. It really was a beautiful car. I would buy another Ford focus st or an Rs because what happened to you is definitely not normal. I hope you can buy another Ford and be proud of owning a ford once again. My ford is a 2004 model and I haven't had a days problem with the car.

i would think mods might have caused this issue but prob not. u say it was 100% stock
+totallyrad77 it had intake full exhaust front mount. Electrical it was 100% stock.
pics make me cringe. already had frayed wire problems on my 2016 st.

this is a fluke, not like you see ST's burning up all the time, glad you're ok. You did say it started near battery Probably a defective battery, electrical issues can def cause fires, funny how quick people are to point at Ford....
+Sonicaceman it was determined to be faulty wiring. The car... not the battery.
Sikk Skeen Well that's no good, hope your insurance takes care of you on this and hopefully Ford does as well I know they don't want bad press. I've always been a Ford guy and I hope they figure this out
+Sonicaceman yeah ford and my insurance have both treated me right. You know even supercars burn down. Sadly no car is perfect.

It's ironic I saw this video today in my feed. A friend was having issues with their battery and needed me to jump it and I opened my battery compartment and there was so much corrosion it was overflowing down the sides. cleaned it as best I could and realized it started to eat through my cables and battery terminal. This easily could of started a fire if I didnt catch it. So today I went by ford to ask them how much a replacement would be and what their opinion was. They told me "this is a common issue with these cars it appears, we have a cable repair kit available." After seeing your video too, I wont be using motorcraft batteries. I would contact Ford as they seem to already be aware of this issue yet have informed NO ONE.
Unfortunately i am at 45k so they said it's not covered but how much was present this issue was there for longer. I should of checked sooner but I have done zero electrical modifications and didn't think about it.

even for stage 1 you'd say its better? my motor and turbo actually just blew up two weeks ago and i was on stage one cobb tune now with a new motor should i get stratified?

I own a 2015. So, I am concerned. Was there any aftermarket wiring connecting to the battery? Did you smell fuel? I have noticed that the HPFP feed line has a tendency to rub on the sound symposer. Fortunately no one was hurt (I hope).
+Self Aware nope 100% stock electrically. No fuel smell at all. Scary really.
Sikk Skeen you had a Steeda Intercooler installed, not necessarily 100% stock.
+Focus ST23 100% stock electrical wise I meant. No subs or extra speakers or lights

quick search found this: fortune.com/2016/10/07/volkswagen-audi-recall/ I found a bunch of recalls for all manufacturers and multiple other cars that have fire problems. The thought that there is some flawless car company out there is hilarious.

Anton Zuykov Did you look up recalls? All manufacturers have recalls. I didn't say I posted all of them.
The vast majority of car makers have had fire issues. I am sure that is safe to say.
