Sacramento, CA to Los Angeles, CA Drive-Lapse
Taking I-5 southbound back through the Central Valley! Overall a smoother ride outside of LA, but of course heavy traffic near downtown at the end. Still beautiful, expansive, and golden everywhere!

Taking Interstate 90 back west to Seattle across the Evergreen State! More beautiful views in the much emptier eastern half of the state, and there were two things that I learned from this adventure: first, my windshield wipers were absolute trash, and second, always bring auto glass wipes to clean up your forward view if other methods don't get the job done. But yeah, despite all the gunk on t...

US Route 95 in Nevada through some of the most remote land I've ever been to! Beautiful mountains and valleys the entire way, and hardly any cars! It has been a longtime dream of mine to see the Nevada desert outside of Las Vegas, which I first visited in April 2023, and after I reached Reno, I also jumped at the chance to visit Carson City, the state capital. Now that dream has finally come tr...

This is a remake of a trip that I filmed in the summer of 2022, with a better camera and a more optimized drive this time around. I also wanted to make a new version to correct some small mistakes that were important to me to fix. Anyway, this is (almost) the full length of Interstate 90 heading eastbound between Washington's two largest cities, Seattle and Spokane! It was a cloudy or partly cl...

Taking I-10 from Phoenix to the City of Angels! The day was extremely hot (being August in the desert and all), with temperatures not dipping below 110°F (43°C) all the way until Palm Springs! Besides the extreme heat, having to drive right into the sun, and the usual Los Angeles traffic at the end, the whole trip was great fun nonetheless, and I would do it again! I know LA Rush hour is really bad traffic
@@portlandoregon187 It sure is!
Back in the early 1950s I-5 (then US 99) was improved in many places to four lanes. Bridge over passes were built. Decades later they were torn down and replaced by bigger and more modern bridges.
Interesting information! I love the history of this vital highway corridor in the western United States.
We make this trip about 6 times a year. The most important thing you need to know is that both Los Angeles and Phoenix have horrible rush hours. Both of them, bumper to bumper traffic. We wanted to miss both Pheonix and Los Angeles morning and late afternoon traffic. So, this is what we do, and we (knock on wood) have never hit any traffic. Or, if we do, it is usually because of an accident. We leave Phoenix at between 4:30 and 5:00 AM. Yep, you read that right. But we miss Phoenix morning rush hour and taking the 210, come into Redlands after the morning rush hour all the way to Pasadena. Since we are going up north, from Pasadena we take the 210 freeway to the Golden State (5)N. We also miss the Bakersfield and Fresno rush hours. On the way home leave around 7:30 and get to Pasadena around 1:30. I would say we miss the traffic about 85% of the time. We stop and eat in Cochella Valley, then start the most boring part of the trip up the very steep grade over the pass to Blyth. There are tons of trunks. The California side is building new lanes through here. We usually stop at Costco in Irwindale and it will usually last us until we cross the boarder into Arizona. The gas is much cheaper. We usually get into Phoenix after the rush hour. It's dark, but no traffic. Hope this helps.
@@firstchoice7761 That is a cool system you have for this inter-state journey, especially with passing through so many big cities and almost always missing the congestion on the local freeways!
I love this drive
@@roadtripnerd2432 Underrated for sure!
I like your VIDEOS
I’m glad you like my content, but I can’t upload things on a speedy schedule as I believe good videos take time and effort to make, and I have a busy life outside of this platform, so please stop spamming my comment sections with questions like “what is the next video” or “how long can you do this”, etc. It doesn’t accomplish anything.
Not much early morning traffic in LA. Must be a Sunday morning. Smart.
I've driven this a number of times between Palm Desert and PHX. Not long after you enter AZ you start seeing the Saguaro 🌵. Pretty cool
That is a cool distinction; it was my first time visiting Arizona that day and it definitely took me a good while to notice the subtle differences from the Colorado Desert in California!
Really interesting and cool drive. Flat plains to mountains and pine trees.
It’s the fact that it happens all in one state that I love the most about I-90 in Washington
31:56 whew close call😱
As if the Grapevine didn’t bring on enough adrenaline already 😅
What will be your next video of driving
Nice drive
is that tesla at 31:57 trying to get everyone killed, just pull into the left 'shoulder' and call 911 if you cannot make it to the hard shoulder on the right....
Lol I have no idea what they were thinking, but that definitely wasn’t the best move
How long can you DRIVE NONSTOP
The longest I’ve ever done was 386 miles, which I did for my Sacramento trip in October 2023, and that is essentially my limit.
Are you uploading I-84 videos yet
What freeway is the next video
Hi there great video. Im coming in from Australia and doing this drive next week. Picking a rental car up from LAX and driving to Phoenix. Just wondering how hard is it going out of LAX and getting onto the interstate.
From my experience, once you get a rental car near the airport (usually you get there by shuttle from the terminal to the rental places), using the 405 and 10 Freeways to get out of West L.A. to points farther east is the way to go, and those freeways can get pretty congested at any time of day. It should be on the more convenient side as you’re never more than a few miles away from the 405 when you’re by LAX.
Also, thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed seeing the trip!
Yep it looks the same as Reno
Do you drive FROM SEATTLE to Blaine WA
I don’t have any plans for trips relating to Seattle in the future.
Amazing! Do you use GoPro for shooting this video? Did you put your camera inside or outside the car?
I use a Garmin Dash Cam 57 mounted inside on my windshield and speed up the footage in post-production!
@@GoingsOnTravel the quality is very good for the video! And no reflections from inside of the car?
I use a polarized lens to minimize glare and annoying noticeable reflections in the glass.
I drove from Spokane Valley to Everett via US2 last September, during a West Coast road trip (first time I’d been out this way overland). Visited Grand Coulee Dam, the Cascade Tunnel and Stevens Pass along the way. Very scenic and probably better than taking the interstate, albeit rather slower. Eastern Washington reminds me a lot of parts of Kansas and Missouri, just a bit more hilly, with all its farms and orchards, but the Columbia River is truly a land of giants. And then the Cascades is what it is, too.
US Highway 2 is way more fun, for sure! I’ve only been as far east as Wenatchee on that highway, but I remember Stevens Pass and the Cascades being so beautiful in the summertime!
You should drive FROM SEATTLE to Whistler BC non stop
On I-5 northbound
You drove from Spokane to Seattle without stopping
That’s right, I did do that, I’m not doubting the feasibility of such a trip
