Wild turning blank scavanged Alder green turned twig pot vase by AMC77 handmade
Scavenged Alder log from a recent walk.
I intend to save/dry it until a later date but came across a video by The Klondidke Craftsman here ua-cam.com/video/PtbIy_nW2BQ/v-deo.html & decided to have a go at making a dried flower vase for my wife.
I left plenty of wood in the vase to hopefully limit movement/cracking, only time will tell. Besides it cost nothing and the wife's pleased with it & that's all that counts 😉👍

DIY Leather Honing Stropping Wheel Woodturning Tool gouge chisel knife sharpener by AMC77 Handmade

This video shows how I make leather honing wheels for the power stropping machine featured in my last video ua-cam.com/video/PFCfHFel0GM/v-deo.html I was just using up an offcut of leather I had left over so this wheel ended up being approx 70mm dia. Which is better balanced and the motor has more torque than with the larger ones. If you make one for a bench grinder note the direction of rotati...

This is my prototype variable speed stropping wheel. I picked up a 220v 200w DC vibration plate motor & speed controller sometime ago on ebay (the same type I used in my variable speed Tormek ST-250) A seller in the UK sells the motor, controller and kettle lead as a project kit. Prices have risen a fair bit since I bought mine & the motors are now rated 180v not 220v. The only other bits I had...

These little pots make such nice projects - this one is right up there. My only advice is to seal them thoroughly with something - wax, shellac, poly - whatever slows down the drying. Thanks for sharing🙏 Stay safe. -Mike😷 p.s. after watching Klondike's vid any cracking is expected and adds to the charm. So, never mind.

Thanks Mike, the bottle was to reduce the amount of dust getting into the motor. I had to cut the nose end down to make adjustments so its not quite as effective as it was!
