Jerry Lando "Daydreamin'"
From the fall of 1961, this uptempo teener could have easily been recorded by Frankie Avalon, this song brings me back to the 1959-1961 period listening to my Frankie Avalon records!
On the Pam label out of Jersey City, New Jersey. Jersey City is a city of about 300,00 located just west across the bay from New York City. Nothing on the internet about Jerry Lando except the listings of his record on the Pam label and a teen CD compilation or two.
Backed by the Verga Sisters, another Jersey City group who performed in the area, there was a Virginia Verga who was a member of the Carmelettes, a girl group of the same time period from Jersey City, but do not know for sure if she is from the same family or not. Any help would really be appreciated on story on this record. The song was written by Gene M. Galanti, and I did find a Gene Galanti from Jersey City on the internet singing old "Rat Pack" songs at a venue in 2016, if that is of any help. In the meantime, enjoy the music and photos of Jersey City back in the time period in which this was recorded to create an ambience of the time and place.

This is a previously unreleased song taken originally from an acetate from 1964 that New York based collector and Crystal Ball Records owner Ed Engel acquired probably in the late 1970's or early 1980's. When it first became discovered, it was reported that it was by Randy and the Rainbows of “Denise” fame, but lead singer Randy Safuto, according to one of my other contacts heard it and said th...

CALIFORNIA SOUND FROM 1964: The Palace Guard was known as mostly a garage rock band formed in Los Angeles, but did have some songs that bordered on the classic mid 1960's California sound, borrowing roots from both the Beach Boys of the early 1960's and the California style sunshine pop of the mid and later 1960's such as the Turtles and the Grass Roots. "Summertime Game" is the perfect example...

FROM NEWPORT OREGON 1966: From the town of Newport on the central Oregon coast, Mr. Lucky and the Gamblers toured the Pacific Northwest in the mid 1960's and performed at many venues. The Intruders were an American soul music group based in Philadelphia most popular in the 1960's and 1970's. Hey Bob..quintessential dreamy teener, one of the first ones I heard that turned me on to the genre..same label as Refreshing, The Holidays..thks
He should upload big brown eyes by the Holidays 1959
@kencohen4378-This song takes me back to 1961 as good as any, Ken. Selling newspapers on the street in Portland Oregon and listening to Frankie Avalon and Bobby Rydell on the local KISN radio. I was in the 7th grade.
@@Jelly_Juice2006I don’t have the Holidays 45.
@@BobPeggActually, this reminds me a little of "Dream Age" by Bobby Rydell which I posted a couple of years, ago. Good choice, Bob.
@ Thanks Steve. Yes, the Bobby Rydell “ Dream Age” record is pretty good too, the song was also covered by by Terri Cirell and the Backbeats which I have on the Veko label.

I might have found the writer of this song, who knows, perhaps Gene or maybe even his brother George sung this song under the name "Jerry Lando" but will need some people from the area that were around back then to know for sure. @@garageTiTi Sure, if someone knows, please do. I would love to hear a cover version of this fine song! I just subscribed to your channel, looks like you have uploaded some interesting records.
@@BobPegg thank you, with my friend, we'll be able to cover it ^^. But could you post this song again please? The end is cut
@@garageTiTi I can try recording it again and sending you personally an MP3 to your email address if I could somehow record it all you actually have enough of the tune where if you wanted to record it yourself you certainly could I don’t think much is really cut off and I’m not sure what happened before. I might try to repost it if I don’t have to reinvent the wheel in terms of all my photos and stuff, but there’s been so many positive comments here that I would lose all of those if I did that I think so I would rather just leave it as it is and people can still hunt down the Record if they want.
When I was a teenager I bought this 45 and wore it out I played it so much😊
@@ricklipford8762 It’s a good one Rick. I discovered it a bit late, like around 1969 or so but it’s a favorite of mine for that era.

One of my records from the 50s
Why does the label say 2.37 in length but the video is 1.51?
I spent the week before I entered college in NYC with a couple of best buds both of whom had relatives there. It was a great time, spent a lot of time at the World's Fair, saw a Murray the K show and I met a gorgeous Brooklyn chick. It was quite an experience for a Boston boy! And, oh yeah, the record is pretty good as well. I'll have to look for a copy.
@@bbmousedoowop Thanks for sharing your story Steve! I loved it. Unfortunately the 45 was never pressed. I had a dub plate made a few years ago, the photo in the video is what my copy looks like.
