The standard starting instructions for cold conditions are to use the thermo-start (first anticlockwise position of the key) for 10 to 15 seconds before cranking with the thermo-start still energised (anticlockwise position 2) for 15 seconds. If it doesn't start you continue to run the thermo-start alone for another 7 seconds before cranking it again. Once the thermo-start had had a chance to warm the intake manifold it started fairly well for minus 17C ambient temperature..

I actually started my great grandpas CubCadet in -20 degree weather once it started up instantly without the choke turned on

Please don’t rev your tractors right after starting them, especially when it’s cold, when the oil is cold it moves too slowly so you need to give the engine time to warm up fully

I have a massey ferguson 304 gas with the front loader for sale if anyone looking for parts or hole tractor

i love my massey 135 diesel. it was -15 here earlier this week, and snow drifts up to our waist and shoulders in parts were blocking our long driveway. the massey fired up with just a bit of cranking, no need for a block heater even. and plenty strong enough to run the snowblower attachment. in spring and autumn it's a vital part of our gardening and livelihood. i'm considering adding another, or a 35 as a backup. love their simplicity.

That's tidy 760. Tough old buggers. Great engine. Our 760 has 5000 hrs on it and only changed oil and filters and cleaned radiators and done coolant. Rubber hoses are a bit perished now.

We have one ours is the deluxe model with the deluxe clutch pedal, my father bought it new in October 57 and its still working scraping out

Runs like a clock, and even better!

Never run starter longer than 10 seconds. Repeat warm-up if it fails to start after 10 seconds. Also use decompression lever and ki-gas if fitted.
