Приєднався 21 чер 2023
Hey, and welcome to the Wild Hearts Farm channel. We moved out of the suburbs onto 17 acres outside of Wilmington NC to live a more sustainable life, connected to nature. We are turning this raw farmland into our dream homestead hoping to inform, encourage and inspire others along the way.
We are huge DIY’ers and love to get our hands dirty while tackling lots of projects. We don’t always know what we are doing but we are not afraid to jump right in, make some mistakes and learn along the way.
We have adventurous souls and Wild Hearts and hope you will tune in and join us in our adventure of building Wild Hearts Farm!
“Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” Philippians 2:3-4

Raising chickens for meat Part III: Processing day!
Welcome to Wild Hearts Farm where we are working to live a more sustainable life connected with nature and all that God has provided.
Last year we raised a batch of chickens on pasture from chick to processing weight and filled our freezer with healthy, organic, all natural chicken. This year we will be raising another batch not just for our freezer, but for sale to our friends as well. It seems like everyone wants delicious pasture raised chicken from a farmer they know and trust!
We invite you to join us on this journey from farm to table as we raise these chicks in our new brooder. Move them out to pasture and care for them in our mobile chicken tractor. Go through the process of gaining our USDA exemption so we can process and sell these chickens without the need of a USDA inspection facility. And finally sell and enjoy the final product with our friends!
We have been raising these chickens for a little over 9 weeks and they are ready for processing. They weigh around 5 to 7 lbs which is the perfect weight for us and for maximum ROI. So come along and join us step by step as we capture, dispatch, scald, pluck, clean, butcher, package and label our chickens. After today they will be ready for sale from farm to table!

I would love to have the plans ❤
Just started following 😊
Pro cocktail tamer😂😂
😂
I love it!!
Can both make a funny vlog challenge trying to catch chickens?😂❤🙏🏼
Pretty cool and seems relatively easy! First time coming across your channel, how long have you been doing this and what would you say is the most difficult part of the process?
Hey. Thanks for stopping by! We have processed chickens a handful of times. This is our second round of broilers and we had some Bresse chickens we processed in between. I think psychologically the dispatching (killing) is a tough part. We raise these chickens from day old chicks and you can't help but get a little attached. It's a lot easier the more you do it but at first it was tough! Cleaning the plucked chicken requires some practice as well but after the 10th chicken or so it got easier. Thanks for watching!
Lol all I have to say.
Yes, but the man likes it.
What type rooster is that one?
It's a silver laced english Orpington. Good rooster.
Yea roosters can be a bit "Cocky"...😁
@@NoSaveAHoe Ha! I saw what you did there. Isn't that the truth.
My first time ever seeing y’all’s channel and it’s this!! 😂🤦🏽♀️😂🤦🏽♀️😂🤦🏽♀️ EPIC internet win for today!!! Thank you
Looks like a good good day!!! 😊
I’d love to start some garden beds! ❤

Too talk and to little work.
These beds look nice! How exciting! @boomstik2010
This is so awesome just like you guys! 🌱🥕🍅
I Love how easy it was to assemble the metal vego-garden bed! This would be a great upgrade from my earth box planters! I look forward to seeing the transformation of your new and improved garden area! 🌱🤗 @justtrish01
That’s awesome 👏🏻
I love doing the big garden restructuring projects in the fall when the weather is cooler. Enjoy your new vego beds! I would love to upgrade a bed with a vego too. Can't wait to see what you grow in them! @AlaskaPrepper

@@WildHeartsFarm Thank you so very much for the garden blessing. So excited! Will message you asap :-) Happy Gardening!
Music is loud though... yikes
I don't know if it's me but the volume is low?? I have it turned up to full on my phone?? I will still try to watch....
Steel corner posts? Or get fancy with brick masonry corner posts. Vego Garden sounds like future-proof.
It’s so true & so sad 🙏🏼
is she your wife? she looks hot
My lottery dream.
However, the veg and that meat does look delicious!! I'd totally eat some 😋❤
It cant in all cases. I was on an antiinflammatory wholefood diet and still had chronic illnesses that are caused by genetic differences and i ended up deficient in a lot of things still even though i shouldn't have been from the foods i was eating all because of chronic illness. Diet and exercise cant always get rid of chronic illnesses and sometimes can make it worse even if doing everything right
More people needs to know this. This is very important but were distracted with entertainment and trivial issues. Meanwhile Big Pharma is using the American People as a cash cow.
Oh this is niceeeee!
Now that’s a barn! Not hearing nailguns.. built the right way!! Will stand the test of times!! Absolutely beautiful!!
@@nccountrygal41 mortise and tenon. Almost all wood pegs! Thanks for the comment!
This is so helpful my only concern since I’m not that knowledgeable the cardboard division for the chick 🐥 with the heating lamp will that be dangerous?
@cupcake50jh thanks for the question. If the heating lamp bulb came into direct contact with the cardboard, I would imagine it could possibly ignite. Same with the pine shavings. The metal cages around the lights are there to prevent that. I secure the lights with wire and make sure there is plenty of clearance, but that is definitely something to be aware of.
When you were cleaning out the coop and found all those roaches, I thought…. Quick get the chickens to eat the bugs 🤣🐔🐥. Looks like a great set up!👍👍👍
@hillary7309 I've never seen a chicken eat a Roach. I wish they would. Even chickens have standards!! Thanks Hillary! 😊
@@WildHeartsFarmI heard if you mix two parts water with one part white vinegar and add 10 drops of peppermint or cypress essential oil. Shake this mix up in a spray bottle then apply the mixture to areas frequented by cockroaches. You can use peppermint, eucalyptus, citronella or cedar wood oil in the spray. Plus baking soda and borax mix.
@@t.m.3769thanks so much for the recipe. Ill have to try this!
She is butchering that song
Nice video!!! It’s so good, felt like I was there 😎🤣
@hillary7309 I know right! Seems like it was yesterday. Oh wait, it was!! We had such an awesome time as usual and so glad we got the gang back together.
Great video on the build of your chicken coop! We’ll be building our first coop and your video has given us so many ideas. Thank you🙏
Amen! Country life is the best life for us!
Seriously 😂😂😂
Nice job! I’m saving this to show David.
@@tracy-themodernpioneer2542 thanked so much and thank you for checking out the video!
Are y’all going to paint the barn white to match everything else? Just curious. Lol
@brekay.6638 we are actually going to keep it natural and let it grey out. We are thinking on painting the fence black as well. Just to change it up a bit. Do you think that would look good?
@@WildHeartsFarm Yes! That would look good!
