I am Emilia Nieminen, maker of Inamorata Dolls and designer of Emilia Couture brand. I've been making these 16" art dolls since 2012 and had to learn it all the hard way. Now I'm hoping to share the joy and craft of doll making with you, and answer any questions you have about art and Inamorata Dolls.
HARD CAP WIG TUTORIAL - Centre parting
So simple and elegant but hard to make crisp. In this tutorial I'll show you how to tidy up a messy parting using a needle and heat. Sounds like torture and it was before I bought a silicone cover for my finger. Don't burn yourself!
Note that this tutorial assumes prior knowledge of hot glue technique from my previous tutorial videos. You can find long versions on my UA-cam channel (Emilia_Couture) or shorter ones on Instagram.

Hard Cap Wigs: Cap
Переглядів 9514 місяці тому
Q & A: Many people have asked me what I use as a base material for the hard cap wigs. PROTECTION: I use heat resistant cling wrap tape that is meant for packaging crates. Microwave safe kitchen wrap will be fine too. Just test if it melts from contact with the glue gun nozzle first. WARNING: Do not use this technique on painted dolls. It might harm the faceup! Make wigs first and paint the doll...

Making Hard Cap Wigs - Part 4 - Curls
Переглядів 4,5 тис.3 роки тому
In this is the video where we complete the 50's Femme Fatale style wig we’ve been working on through this series. Last time we finished the actual wig making and now it’s time for the styling. I want to apologise for making you wait for this video for so long. I was in a rush to finish the next generation of Inamorata doll by the end of June and that took priority over UA-cam. The 4.0 prototype...

Making Hard Cap Wigs - Part 2 - Basics

Welcome to the second part in the series about doll wig making using hot glue. This method of wig making creates waterproof, washable wigs and there are no smelly toxic glues involved. I'm trying to make shorter videos more often, so I'm breaking this vast topic into a series. Sorry for ending this one a bit abruptly, the third part with how to make partings and natural hairline is soon to foll...
Making Hard Cap Wigs - Part 1 - Cap
Переглядів 17 тис.3 роки тому
I was recently asked if one could make wig caps out of paper mache and although my answer was "not ideally", I thought the best way to answer is to show how I make my wig caps. This method of wig making creates waterproof washable wigs and there are no smelly toxic glues involved. I’ve filmed a lot of material over the past year, but between my work and Japanese studies the task of editing is f...
Sculpting Leather - Making miniature masks

In this tutorial video, I show you how I made tiny plague doctor masks for 16 inch Inamorata dolls, because nothing says 2020 like a plague mask. The same wet sculpting technique works for shoes, armour or anything else you might want to make for your dolls. Inamorata - Alive
Переглядів 1,2 тис.3 роки тому
This short video is an experiment in puppeteering. I love photoshoots because that's when the dolls come alive in my hands and I wanted to try to capture that feeling for you. Hope you enjoy it. The doll is Inamorata Kintsugi, One-of-a-kind (OOAK) art doll inspired by Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold - a metaphor for human trauma, healing over time, and how that trauma can sha...
Painting A Toy Turtle
Переглядів 2174 роки тому
This video is a bit different. It has nothing to do with Inamorata dolls. It's just me painting this cute little bubble toy for my own enjoyment. We filmed it to test the camera set up ages ago and my boyfriend just finished the editing. Consider it bonus contents. Maybe some of you will find it relaxing and fun to watch. There is no voice over or explanation of what I'm doing, but I do occasio...
Posing Inamorata Dolls
Переглядів 3,3 тис.4 роки тому
Every doll design in a compromise between aesthetics and poseability. Some like solid sculptures and some robotic joints that allow extortionist levels of movement. Inamorata is designed with lingerie in mind, so most torso joints can be hidden by skimpiest of underwear. However, most Inamorata joints are not slitted ball joints like traditional BJD have, but odd shapes with fisheye shaped hole...

Popovy Doll sharing Inamorata Doll Wigs
Переглядів 12 тис.4 роки тому
One of the most common questions I get asked is: "can Inamorata can share wigs with other 16 inch dolls?" Here is Popovy Sister's Bluejay trying on a variety of Inamorata wigs to illustrate the size and shape. Other dolls that share the head size include Marmite Sue's Doll Menagerie, Deva, Ficon and ModDolls. If you know any other dolls that can share Inamorata wigs please let us know in the co...
So glad to see a new vid o. Your dolls are so pretty
That's pretty great. It's the finishing details that make it look really perfect. Thank you for sharing.
"OMG" I said when this video popped up. I am so happy you are making more content, especially wig making tutorials!
Thank you so much for sharing your process in such detail, its so so helpful.
These are so beautiful! I can’t wait to try your technique! I was wondering if maybe you could show us how to do a more structured hairstyle! I believe I saw you do one with tiny braids 🥹
Как я Вам завидую ❤❤❤ Я очен хотела бы заиметь эту красоту ❤❤❤ Не знаю, удастся ли хоть раз в жизни хоть подержать в руках это чудо ❤
Das ist unglaublich ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so, SO much for these! I'm making my first artdoll based off a character I really like. He has short, slicked back hair, and I had barely found anything on natural hairlines. Those help a lot (: I will be making some tests, especially since short hair does indeed seem more difficult... and if it doesn't work, well, at least I learnt a lot! Your dolls look absolutely stunning, and it's a pleasure to watch! I love all the dedication you put into this art form, all the attention to detail, and that you show the "mess ups" as well. No matter how professional something ends up looking, they're always bound to happen, and learning to work with and fix mistakes is an integral part of any art process I believe. Not all people making tutorials over here show those parts of it. Also totally feel you with trying to record and not paying attention to the camera when you get immersed 🤣 Anyways, thank you so very much. These are invaluable 💖
I appreciate this series was done with just a gluegun
Lol it’s been a minute since I did a doll makeover so I’m surprised I get doll-related content on my timeline But I will definitely be saving this one for future projects, looks doable! Thanx
I have no idea why I watched this but it was interesting, thank you!
I love smaller dolls around 1/10- 1/12.. the hooks on the feet and hands do they make them smaller for smaller scale??? If so where can i get some? These dolls are AMAZING
Absolutely amazing. I have been working on creating my dolls by hand... I am slowing turning over to 3D Printing and wanting to learn on blender. Trauma breaks the soul 🥹. I love posing as well . Says everything without words. Love how you pose these dolls. It's my goal as well. ❤ Thank you for sharing.
Thanks, this is the nicest, most professional looking doll wig how to I've seen. Take care /Rosemary
what do you use to make the waves in the hair stay wavy?
Thank you for rhe video! However i couldnt follow the parting explanation.. the video was too fast and too far away to be swen properly. Looks beautiful though.
Emilia, I sincerely hope you return to post more doll videos! I am especially curious how you created your afro-textured wigs and what materials you used. Your wig making videos are exceptional and unmatched as far as I've seen anywhere so far.
Yes. Rescue helps

You are a fountain of wisdom and a joy to watch and listen. I definitely feel confident now in attempting a new style of wig making. Beautiful work you’ve done. ❤🎉
Madonna should fire her plastic surgeon and hire you because she's going for that doll's look but her surgeon keeps giving her the Yoda look.😳🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Hi I would like to know how you fix the hair so that it stays in place in the hairstyle once you have finished it.. like in the blue wig.thanks

OMG, that intro was amazing and the video tutorial was really helpful. I have some old dolls that had to lose their hair due to glue seepage and frying from previous owners.
what sort of hair is that ?
Emilia, thank you for posting your wig tutorials. I will be trying your technique soon. I would love to see a short, mans style wig, or any more styles you would like to share 😍
Such a Magnificent Doll! Absolutely stunning!
I love your tutorial! Thankyou for sharing your amazing knowledge! I was wondering what the product (silicone spray) you mentioned was called to add shine? Thankyou so much, Katie xx ❤❤
I always loved your dolls and now I love your voice too 😁
I just found your channel. I see it's been awhile since you uploaded. Are you still active? I loved your content. Especially your wonderful tutorials.
Hello. Love your work. I accidentally found your channel and have watched 5 videos so far. I find one of the hardest things about making miniatures sometimes is finding that materials . I have been looking for the thinnest leather available. The thinnest I can find is 1.2. mm, would you mind letting me know your source.? Your work is incredible. Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you for doing these videos! Love watching these
