    Great advice for everyone. Leave work at the workplace. Not only do people burn out when they don’t but in time it will negatively affect families and relationships.😎

    I’ve been to multiple different colleges the number of college professors in community colleges who think they’re in a high school of 45 year-old people who expect you to listen to them like their drill sergeant like they have even the right to comment on something you’re doing that isn’t disrupting the class, but who also expect each and every member of the class to be interested or care about what they are not gonna get us a grade is so wild. I’m a military vet. I’m learning for fun. I can give a fuck about your rules. You’re gonna take points off for nothing if you spend 45 minutes of our 50 minutes rambling on on your soapbox you should not get paid so far I’ve had two male teachers who seem to have some kind of a little boy complex where they want to control people, last semester was some idiot from California who had no idea where he was or what he was doing fired this semester and now the douche bag trying to teach me psychology who claims has 25 years of teaching experience, but this guy is behaving like he’s had 20 minutes of experience

    I'm a beginner at 66 I just want to know I have John Paul as400 with the beginner mouthpiece is that sufficient I'm having hard time with the armature and keeping a nice sound

      Kudos to you on starting the sax! I’m not familiar with the John Paul. Is that a sax brand? Assuming the sax is well adjusted, new saxes often come with terrible mouthpieces. A good all around mouthpiece is the Selmer C*. Try it with a 2.5 Vandoren Reed. Some of the off brand reeds are cheap but terrible. I’d try a Reed first as that’s the cheapest solution. Also a lesson with a local person if possible.

    I sounded like the traditional Bombay taxi horn on my alto. I have not actually heard this taxi horn but a honking goose is also appropriate. So I switched to a Keilwerth alto but this made no difference to the sound. I have tried cheap Chinese reeds, Rico orange box reeds and Vandoren but there did not seem to be any noticeable difference to the horrible sound. You illustrate the position of mouthpiece and that particular position where the mouthpiece was at the point of minimum insertion produced the sound to end all sounds. This was intensely sophisticated or as the British would say “posh” and having heard this sound there can for me be absolutely no other. Please, please would you produce a video exclusively devoted to the production of this most elegantly smooth, soft and velvety sound and as far as I have been able to find out, something exclusive to you and your playing. Also do give details of the reed hardness, and mouthpiece type and all other relevant details and thank you, thank you most sincerely.

    • @divinejames
      @divinejames 5 місяців тому

      I like to use a Couf Artist 4* mouthpiece with a 2.5 Vandoren Reed. However, Reed strength is going to be very personal. Too hard and you can’t play low notes. Too soft and you get a dull sound.

      Do you have a better design? When you think about the intricacy of our design and how everything works together, I don’t see how we could think there’s not a Designer behind all that. When created, it was a perfect world. With sin and evil, it’s not perfect. But perfection will be returning someday.
