The 174 route master used to pick it up by the library at Hilding shops. I’m ride it to Romford that was when I used to live in Dunstable Road.

Great video Peter. I knew about Imber and the annual bus convoy but thought it was only to and from Salisbury. Some 4 miles south east of Imber between Tilshead and Chitterne is Copehill down " German" village, a mock village where no one has ever lived. It was built so soldiers could practice fighting in a real German village -- it was thought the soviets might invade from Poland. You can see it on google Earth. you can get quite close to it on public paths. Also you can google COPEHILL DOWN VILLAGE.

I grew up in Stratton walk and Dorking road , I went to neave school in the 80s and remember cross country and we could still see the remnants of we called it the roman pond . Happy days growing up in Harold Hill

We'll remember all those teachers you mentioned- poor old McLaren who had 'behavioural management' problems as we'd now say. I know that family in the first photo. It was taken in Poplar. The little girl wrapped in the blanket is my mother in law and still alive, the two girls in the pram are her sisters. Her.Mother is carrying her and her father is rhe ARP warden. The other lady is an aunt of the baby. We dont know who the little boy is.👍👍👍
