its not that of an disorder. its misunderstood and its most of the time causing comunication problems. yes it's a spectrum. yes if you also have autism you would probably disagree with me. i have autism. i have an high iq. yes i feel empathy. yes i look people in the eyes when they talk. yes i have lots of friends. no i don't want to be 'cured'. no i don't hate autism. the only real 'sign' i have autism is that i focus on details and i like my personal space.

had 3 different pediatricians work with my kid from 3 years old. they said my kid had a global delay. then when my kids nearly 6 the pediatrician said my kid has autism. one reason being not looking at people when name is called. i took my kid home and started telling my kid to look at people when they call your name, my kid adapted instantly and started looking at me when i called name out. and they said because my kid sat on my lap once that was a reason as well. my kid can write abc's and numbers, sing songs. her upbringing wasnt the best before my kid started living with me at 3 years old. should i get another opinion on the autism diagnosis? or are they probably right that my kid has autism? could it be ADHD or something else?

It's a racket. It's turned into an industrial complex. Influencers convince people to take online tests. The online tests suggest they should seek a diagnosis. A diagnosis costs THOUSANDS of dollars. A newly diagnosed person goes around telling people they should get tested, and around and around it goes.

Does it matter how old the patient is? My son is 22 and about at a Level 2 Autism, is verbal, but needs to speak better, needs emotional regulation and do better with social skills. He did finish high school and has completed life skills courses. I think this could help my son. Also, can you recommend a practitioner in Colorado?

Yes I think it matters how old an autistic person is when diagnosed for example. There are different issues an autistic person needs to deal with, and therefore different strategies for dealing with them. For example a 4 year old non verbal autistic person will need different help to a pensioner who has recently been diagnosed. Each have their own hurdles to overcome or learn to deal with. Also, most Auties also have co-morbid issues that may need addressing.

Thank you for this. We had to deal with an overwhelmed first year kinder teacher trying to tell us our son was on the spectrum because he had never been to school prior and was only around mom and dad. It was so sad seeing a teacher try target him because she just wanted to have an easier day at work.

Yikes! This is based upon some really outdated info and is not congruent with the current DSM-VI. I would tend to agree that childhood autism gets thrown around a little too often. The ability to converse is not the only defining characteristic of ASD. An individual on the spectrum can mask. They can also speak with great authority on areas of SI’s. The inability to converse in a neurotypical conversation about things of no consequence will tend to always be present. This has to do with the ASD individual not understanding the body language or the unspoken elements. I post because I feel this is an over generalized statement from a so called scientist. The topic is far more nuanced. Real researchers such as Dr Tony Atwood and Dr Temple Gradin would also tell you the same. These types of generalities are dangerous. There are people out there who will weaponize these videos to attempt to invalidate those with ASD. This video unintentionally seeks to invalidate those on the spectrum who fail to meet your single criteria. You need to fill in the blanks and cite sources so that your research can be taken seriously.

Isent that an old system ? The 19 channels on new headsets don’t get your hair messy and filled with jelly. The new interfaces are now connected to platforms like Nexflix. While watching any movie or show, the interface your working on, gives you rewards/ or instant feedback to create a strong , better connectivity in the brain just like the Dr said. The old headsets get your hair filled with jelly and takes about 15 to 20 mins to install correctly on your scalp. If you have dinner plans or need to get back to work lol, you better bring a wig or a hat. The instant feed back watching a fish jump into a pond is so boring. Or watching a race car 🏎️ attempt to go around a track. This Current system must be from the early 2000s . The (Newer)Neuro feedback systems are used with modern 1 wire headsets 🎧. And your 45 minute sessions go by faster when catching up on your favorite shows while training your brain. The screen will flicker and the beeping in the headsets get louder until your brain starts correcting the beeping and the screen flickering ex I recommend to NOT tell your technicians to much information until after you finish the brain map session. You want your Dr to review each page and and locate any brain issues, before you tell them you had 10 concussions playing football or you have ADHD ex. Because you feel like they point it out, here’s your concussions , and the test reveals you don’t concentrate well, you have problems learning , your unorganized ex ex . What if you didn’t say you had ADD before the Exam? Would he have said it looks like you have ADD 🤷🏼‍♂️. Just saying , it will make your expensive treatment feel less expensive that way lol.

To answer your question, no, Autism cannot be cured. It isn't a disease. Autism, is management. If someone is 'cured', quite simply, they were misdiagnosed with Autism in the first place. Sincerely, an Adult with Autism.

Thank you! It's been difficult to find such info until now and near impossible to find anyone like me. I probably had Selective Mutism but it was the opposite to most - I could interact with peers but not teachers or parents. This is because they had authority and spoke confrontationally whereas with peers, we spoke shoulder to shoulder". I'd freeze if a parent or teacher was watching us so they could easily be convinced that I wasn't interacting normally. One MAJOR thing to always consider is THE HOME ENVIRNOMENT. The family is the Primary agent of socialisation. If the child appears to have difficulty with socialisation, the first place to look should be home. My whole family is autistic so I hadn't the opportunity to learn normal social interaction until I started preschool. WITHIN peer environments, I quickly caught up. The home and family environment may be conditioning a child to appear to have autistic traits. Abuse and neglect will often create similar symptoms. Remember this can be very low key and not look like abuse or neglect. The child could be very well fed and clothed but constantly belittled by a sibling so they withdraw and lose confidence and look down. While one shouldn't go to far on the "blame the parents" approach, one does have to consider whether it is actually the parent projecting their own symptoms or deciding that their child is "wrong" because they don't live up to their expectations. TRAUMA might not be obvious. The parents may not be aware. The child mightn't be either. It can come from unexpected sources. MEDICAL should always be considered. A child with medical discomfort may be stuck in a state of overwhelm and anger and be unable to develop typically until resolved. Some medical conditions may not show up in tests. My hearing and eyesight were not ok and this was missed. I didn't know people could SEE eye contact so couldn't make it. My ears are prone to wax. Auditory processing is difficult but I don't have APD. SELF-ESTEEM must always be looked at too. A child who has no confidence may be unable to look up or interact and may not try new things. Here's another practitioner's experiences. www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/listen-the-kids/201508/what-if-the-diagnosis-autism-is-wrong
