A Short Documentary about life on a traveling Carnival. Written&Directed By: Nick Parenti Shot & Edited By: Nick Parenti
I prefer convicts running n hiding from there past running from their kids they won’t pay for and of course the law
Any info on the song that plays in the background?
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a truly happy carnie. All seemed weighed down with poor life choices. I think only the owners are happy. But even that has to be stressful- managing the shady characters in your employ.
Butch was a legend ....
"What's the biggest difference between the carnival of yesteryear and the carnivals of today?" Well, it looks like all the fit women are left exclusively on those black and white pictures.
Why do the folks who work the games (aka gamers) work on 100% commission, when they have to set up, work the booth & tear down? I’m just curious.
Thats just how the business works. Its tradition, basically. And its the cheapest for the bosses lol.
Me as well what a wonderful life
We Really Love Butler Amusement
Thank you Nicholas! Here’s a little something for fun: ua-cam.com/video/Y7ggw365lYI/v-deo.html
This was the best video and description of a carnival and the life of the workers. Would like to own my own and hire some wonderful folks like these to be a part of it. Would be a great life to see the smiles on so many people everywhere right now; as it is needed so much now. I will be remembering the name of this one; may have them come one day to my area. God bless and keep you all safe in your travels. Thanks for the fun :)
Watch carnival train. It's a documentary./. Movie all about the carnival. History.
That's Bryan in the tubs.a great guy still one of the best tub guys
Fuck cryin' Bryan
Nick I am sadened by the new laws and the use of seasonal alein to do your job they are like zombies
Very interesting, would have loved to of heard more .....
I want a carny boyfriend
I love fairs and carnivals. The fried food smell mixed with WD40 cigarettes and Aqua Net and cheap perfume lol I loved them in the 80s and 90s. They were more fun back then. The freak shows were nuts.
The background sounds of gates closing, ringing alarm bells, restraints locking, thrash metal, screams of amusement and loud motors. Love the fair and carnival scene
Forgot the bright, animated, lights
I've always been very intrigued by the carny culture and history.
I was with it from late 80s to mid 90s best time of my life
Bet we crossed paths.
Which show? Cumberland valley shows here in Tennessee. Dam sure miss that show. Best people in the world are showfolk. Have a lot of good memories working the midway.
Did the guy mean "Hey Rube". That was the actual expression used. "Hey Rude" I have never heard of.
Anyone who brings smiles and joys to young kids deserves respect. Circus talent and Carnies included. Nice video.
Interesting alternative life. Thanks for making and posting!
No thanks I’m with it.
lol Bee a zo one!
Doesn't seem like a carnival without the sky wheel and mega loop. White county was lucky enough to have cumberland valley shows and they had both rides when I was a kid. I was hooked on how those 2 rides where setup and took down. But the sky wheel is no more
Yeah it sucks cause cumberland valley shows is no longer in the business. The owners passed. Rip. The grandson took over and so I don't think it worked out for him or them. But he still books in rides with different shows . Loved cvs it broke my heart when I found out they was out😢
Cool video
I got my first taste of the carny life a few years back I want to do it again this summer I had a blast
I had a view of it one day was hooked on the thought of traveling with my boyfriend but i had to deal with things at home first.
I was born and raised a carny and it's "Hey Rube!" Had to use it a few times!
Me to. Grew up. A corny. Miss it. It was my love.
You made a good point. About only seeing a lot of parking lots. It's not like the old days of occupying farmers fields out in the country anymore.
Hey, do you have any advice for someone who wants to get into the carnival business but doesn't know where to start?

excellent work guys
teddy bear for a love affair
The hammer squash saying Hey Rude must either be new or Larry in the head. Its HEY RUBE not HEY RUDE.
Good Lord, that guy claiming to be a carny says Hey Rude? He said it multiple times so I know it wasn't a mistake. It's HEY RUBE, not RUDE. Sheesh.
I agree . most wouldn't even know what HEY RUBE means.
You hear wrang more now days
He wasn't "claiming" to be a carny, the owner's son/creator of the video said the man was a generational carny in his text intro. Did anyone ever consider that maybe they say "Rude" instead of "Rube" in their particular carnival? With language, small (and sometimes not-so-small) colloquial changes in words are very common between different dialects, locations & cultures- especially over time. A couple of great examples that demonstrate my point are the several spelling variations of the word "wendigo" in different North American tribal languages, & how the common names of familiar plants often vary greatly from place to place & person to person (which is one of the reasons why we also have to give every specific plant its own two-part botanical Latin name).
