Both teams entered 1994 as easy beats but it was to be a momentous year for both clubs. This, however, was Richmond's day. 42 minutes of the replay, none of the last quarter shown. Footage ends on a Stuey Maxfield ripper!

We said farewell to Waverley in 1999....and then back we were for the pre-season as if nothing had changed. However this was to be Richmond's last match at league HQ in a tightly fought match against the reigning premiers.

The Richmond was out of finals contention, the Tigers were in the middle of 'Unleash the Geisch!' delirium and were able to pip the reigning premiers and provide yet more false hope for their adoring fans.

The replay of Richmond v North. Classic format, highlights of quarters 2 and 3 (1st quarter was goalless) and then the last quarter in full. A good tight game, two teams on the rise. Enjoy
1993 Werribee v Springvale Preliminary Final @ Moorabbin
Переглядів 1,7 тис.8 років тому
Remarkable game of VFA footy. Werribee and Springvale met at Moorabbin on a freezing afternoon but there was plenty of heat in the game. The winner faced Port Melbourne the following week at Princes Park, and it took until the last kick for the match to be decided. Some great names, Denis Knight, Jason Caples, Jason Watts, Donald McDonald, Coşkun Aziz and more. Enjoy
1998 Richmond v Port Adelaide, r.10 @ MCG

This mid-season clash saw 6th place Port take on 7th place Richmond in an important match for both clubs. Interestingly, Chris Naish pulled on the lightning bolt jumper for his only match against his old club. It looks completely wrong. Enjoy

After being humiliated in the 1995 preliminary final and losing when Chris Naish's after the siren shot hit the post earlier in the year, the Tiges had an incredibly rare win against Geelong at the G, very much keeping their finals hopes alive. To no avail of course, but it was a very enjoyable day. 50,000 in the cold and wet, not a bad effort.

The infamous 'Blight walking the boundary line' in the last quarter. A great day for the Tigers against the reigning premiers.

44:40
3:18 probably the biggest drop punt ever
How bias at the end by the commentary team
11:36 - Dermott-Free incident 28:40- Dermott booed going for shot 37:50- Dermott gives Bullus one to go on with (Lawsons leg break isnt on the video, Sandy Roberts mentions it in the beginning)
1:47:35 Classic Duck
John Longmire took more over head marks than Lance Franklin and that's saying something.
Thoroughly enjoyable day at the footy. A handy Dees win and giving it to the Carlton flogs who wanted to fight because they were all shitty about losing the last game there.
What a happy day! Go Roos.
Absolutely bizarre that Northey was let go. Hard not to blame the club for that one, definitely a big loss. This brings back some memories. Watched many of these games as a kid. Certainly remember feeling the ball was in a safe pair of hands when Knights or Daffy got possession. When it was in Richardson’s possession 20 metres directly in front of the goal however…

Fuck Marvel stadium, I would’ve loved to have been alive to have gone to this incredible stadium in its prime. VFL Park is way better than Marvel will ever be
*-going carltons way-*
good footy ground anyone could win there
Some great names there. Campbell, knights, broderick, maxfield (spewing he went to the swans), kellaway boys, naish.....
The final farewell for Waverley was meant to be the ansett cup grand final , but the AFL being the cold bastards they are , decided at the last minute to move it to the mcg
T Shaw was the most overrated player and coach ever at Victoria park
watching in 2023 the soon to be '96 Premiers playing the '90 Premiers. Fast paced, high pressure football, with champion players everywhere.
@01:58 'We've HAD the Daicoses' Fast forward more than 20yrs and we really do HAVE the Daicoses. 😅
Should still wear that jumper every week
Carlton lost part of its soul leaving Princess Park and going to Docklands, possibly would've been a bit better had've they gone to the MCG.
melboune was formed 1858, Geelong 1959
it was founded Australian rules not vic rules dont listen to bloody kane cones
Sad story about the goal umpire Ante Perkovic.
Where did you source this game? I am looking for 1999 also.
So this was the actual last game played at Waverley Park after Hawthorn vs Sydney in the last round of the 1999 season. I miss Arctic Park then Marvel Stadium
Wonder what that Craig McRae who kicked 4 for the Lions is upto these days 🤔🤪
Miss old Waverley Park
GO TIGES!!!
Talk about jumper clashes lol
Fly kicking the first goal in the last game at Victoria Park now Collingwood coach
Premiership Coach*
Big Mathew Rendell, Fitzroy should have gone all the way back in 80s.
No sound. Why is that?
The demons flogged us that afternoon that first half terrible.
I was there on that day, loved it.
Fifty year old Greame Cornes with a 24 year old partner. I'm sure it would be weird at family gatherings because he has two older children both footballers Chad, and Cain.
And look at us now 2017 2019 2020 premiers
I've got both of these books
Friday January 28 2000
back in the days of suburban flavour, home ground advantages, and one eyed crowd support. Windy Hill wasn't a place for your team to visit if you were looking for friends, but it was better than Victoria Park....
You didn't often see Garry Ablett get beaten in a one on one but but for the first three quarters Dunkin Callaway had him very quiet. In my opinion GABLETT was a freak of a player who was just about unbeatable on his day. Good win Tiger's Yellow and black....
Carlton had plenty of senior players in this premiership, and won as you eoild expect.
17:25 future Collingwood coach kicks the first goal in the last game at Vic Park. Great work Fly!
Premiership Coach now
Peter Somerville had a shocker 3rd quarter
This is Round 22 not Round 18, Port Melbourne had the bye in Round 18
2:33:50 The beginning of Roaming Brian
Five minutes in and again I'm annoyed at Jason Taylor
When does Jamie lawson break his leg in this game? He is my dad and I’ve been looking for this game for years
This is real footy
Daicos 2nd last game
Should never have left. Miss going there to the games
