To HDR or not to HDR
I'm showing comparison of the same video in HDR and not. For the purpose of this recording I have fixed camera settings to ISO 100 and shutter time 1/60s. This way we can see any differences in how image on the same display shows differently.
The original is in Rec.2100 (HLG), output was set to Rec. 2100 (PQ), and format to UHD DNxHR HQX 10-bit. I uploaded that to UA-cam directly from DaVinci.

    also I have one thing that when I play for the first time in cs2 I have constant 60 fps for like 3 - 5 minutes, then It goes to 20 for 1 min and then goes to 30 - 50 fps. Is it because of throttling?

    • @soniakolasinska3850
      @soniakolasinska3850 Місяць тому

      I guess it's throttling. When SoC gets hot it reduces its clock speed. Open window, blow a fan, place laptop on the stand so it airs all the time. Also, if you use external sound card that might get some load off SoC too.

      I think I'm using Metal with Mach. Did you try that? Also, make sure you set settings to low, especially textures and shadows. You can enable antialiasing, because GPU itself is fast, only memory is bit missing, so reduce on things that take memory. Also, I use Parallels tools, and there's memory tool that allows you to free some memory before starting game. Did you put -nojoy in CS2 parameters? Try that too.

    Very nice flight. To help with the landing bounces, make your approach over the numbers (beginning of runway) just above stall speed by a couple knots (speed) and about 5 feet AGL (Above Ground Level). Then as you cross the numbers, pull the throttle all the way back and keep the nose up. This will create a stall just a few feet above the runway with just a tiny bounce. Let it roll out. To help with Taxiway travel, most "tail draggers" do "serpentine" turns back and forth across the taxiway so you can see out the left side of the cockpit then the right side of the cockpit. This creates a snake like path along the taxiway but lets you see better.

    What about using C++ constexpr which would result in the same assembly generated as compile time eval is on by default on rust?

  • @loanselot325
    @loanselot325 4 місяці тому

    C++ does not have compile time evaluation on (constexpr and consteval) by default unlike Rust, constexpr functions in C++ produce almost same assembly output as Rust

    • @soniakolasinska3850
      @soniakolasinska3850 4 місяці тому

      Constexpr doesn't mean compile time evaluated. It means that expression does not depend on volatile state, and that is the reason compiler may evaluate it at compile time. I'm not entirely sure if every constexpr is evaluated at compile-time. Cit: constexpr - specifies that the value of a variable or function can appear in constant expressions Are all constant expressions guaranteed to be evaluated at compile-time?

    • @soniakolasinska3850

      Rust is basically syntactic sugar for C++ templates and concepts in my eyes, and that is why I like Rust. Saying so I prefer to use C++, and that is because I prefer to define those templates and concepts, even if syntax more involved. C++ gives me raw power, while Rust gives me a subset of that was blessed by Mozilla Foundation. On the other hand, at Mozilla they do fantastic job writing C++ code. Have you ever worked with Firefox codebase? I worked with it, and I say it's beautiful.

    • @loanselot325
      @loanselot325 4 місяці тому

      @soniakolasinska3850 constexpr is a gray line between compile time and runtime, if the compiler can catch an optimization pattern, it will evaluate it on compile time. There is also consteval which is guaranteed to be evaluated at compile time, and forces programmer to write compile time code so constexpr fits better for the C++ examples you've given

    Hi, great to see someone testing the Ryzen CPU's on Davinci Resolve. Have you worked with 4K, 60fps, 10-bit, 4:2:2 or 4:2:0 HEVC footage? That'll likely be the type of encoding I work with most so I'd like to know how the CPU performs with that kind of footage. Smooth timeline playback at full 4K resolution after color transform would be ideal. Hope to hear from you!

    • @soniakolasinska3850
      @soniakolasinska3850 4 місяці тому

      Actually built-in Radeon GPU does video decoding and encoding. I haven't worked with 4K material on this machine, I only worked with 1080p. Currently I have RTX 4080S on board, and it's fast, but laggy compared to MacBook M2. I prefer my Mac for video editing. Also, on Mac 4K material works like a charm. My Ryzen/GeForce machine is good for 3D rendering either real time or offline, but for editing both videos and 3D have lag between mouse drag and actual edit action to start. Ryzen is good for general parallel processing like compiling huge codebase, or calculating game logic in multiplayer games. Anything graphics and video goes through my RTX 4080S. I use nVidia NVENC AV1 codec, as it's least laggy to edit. Haven't really used HEVC. Is it better than AV1?

    • @2fast2noisy-lt7ln
      @2fast2noisy-lt7ln 4 місяці тому

      @@soniakolasinska3850 right, I forgot that the GPU would be used for decoding. AV1 is the newer, supposedly better codec compared to HEVC in terms of image quality for the file size, but I don't know how easy it is for machines to work with in video editing software. HEVC makes machines choke during editing because of the heavy compression involved.

    • @soniakolasinska3850
      @soniakolasinska3850 4 місяці тому

      I think what is important is to encode using NVENC if you are on nVidia, and AMD HW AVC if you use iGPU. When I encoded with AMD HW AVC, and edited on nVidia, then I was experiencing very bad choking, and if I encoded by nVidia's NVENC codec (either AV1 or HEVC) then I can edit video in DaVinci more comfortably. Although I won't say that it doesn't choke. If you really want to edit videos then I think one and only way to do it right is to get MacBook M2 or M3 either Air, Pro or Studio. On MacBook DaVinci runs without issues. Fusion effects might not render as well as on RTX 4080 Super, but video never chokes!

    The campaign maker "Reflected simulation" makes very good tutorials for DCS. This is for the P-51D, but I guess most of it applies for the TF-51D too. ua-cam.com/video/6s93EFjGIKQ/v-deo.htmlsi=wE5mW5tiwlCDYNm2

    Once you are all airborne and gear and flaps up you'll need to use the propeller pitch control to reduce the RPM. First decrease the throttle, then the propeller pitch.

    That was a rather good takeoff. Use large but short moves of the rudder. Also, don't pull the stick too hard or try to unstick while the speed is too low because otherwise you won't have effective controls and large secondary effect of controls. Just to be sure: was the takeoff assist setting set at 0% ?

      Thank you! I will try again with your advice. I didn't realize there is assist there, I checked and TF-51 has take-off assist 100%, I will set it to 0%, thanks!

    You were way too fast on the approach. Try to decelerate way earlier and to trim the plane at your approach speed (330-300km/h ?). If properly trimmed you should be able to keep your hands off the controls. Also, try to never push the stick forward when landing - it should be all done in a single smooth, slow, aft motion of the stick as the aircraft decelerates.

    That was amazing. A lot of C/C++ engineering is basically compiler hacking. Thanks for the video!

    This is educational video. You can get some grasp of assembly, get better understanding how your code in C++ or Rust translates into what computer will do with it. You can compare how ARM64 assembly differs from X86. You can learn how to do static polymorphism in C++. You can learn the difference between impl and dyn keyword in Rust. For your information the comments are actively reviewed and moderated. Thank you for taking time and watching my video. I hope you found it interesting and useful.

    Like the way you used Concepts, finally a practical and useful way to use that thing! One question - in real world, you would use a 3rd party library (QuickFix) to parse FIX messages instead of rolling your own, correct? Or is quickfix considered too slow? Thanks again

    Właśnie kupiłem wersję XL. Jest świetna i wszystko mieści się w środku bez problemu. A wyciszenie sprawia, że słychać tylko przyjemny szum.
