Welcome to our channel!
We are Sam and Christine. We love traveling, rock climbing and converting vans to campers. So no surprise that this is also what our channel is about ;)
- travel experiences
- climbing trips
- camper conversions
A little bit about us:
We're a German-American couple living a nomadic life - at least most of the time ;)
We've been traveling for about 5 years, mostly in our camper van(s) in New Zealand and in the US. But we also cycled more than 7000 km through Asia on our self-converted touring bikes.
And currently we're working on probably our biggest life adventure: Building an overland vehicle and driving around the world with it. Success and luck be with us *fingers crossed*
We hope you enjoy watching one, two or a couple more of our videos and would love to hear what you think (leave a comment!). And if you like what we do, subscribe - we'd be super stoked about it :)
Happy watching

Bed & Cab Removal - Taking our Truck Apart
We're taking our truck apart to free up the chassis for our 1963 Dodge Bread Van (that has a rusty broken chassis).
Our donor vehicle is a Ford F-150 with 4x4 from 1990 that we actually bought to haul the van from CA to NY. But it turned out our Pick-up Truck has a beautiful chassis and we decided to incorporate it in our overland van.
So glad we had a gantry crane to take the truck apart!

We are currently building out our 1963 Grumman Kurbside van into an overland vehicle. After taking our van out of storage we're starting the big rip out of the previous conversion but we don't stop with the interior. Everything needs to go that we won't utilize in the new conversion. And this is more or less everything except the aluminum body of our van. If you're interested how you can lift a...

How is the rock climbing at Wall Street in Moab, Utah? We found it to be easily accessible, safe and not intimidating at all. There is quite a variety of different climbs - easier as well as more difficult climbs, slabs and some overhangs, sports and trad climbing. We spent 2 days climbing there and it was totally worth the time! SOCIAL MEDIA free_and_offbeat freeando...

I have a 1959 Dodge Grumman Olson curbside step van shorty but I need a grill for mine to be done
Do you still have it I just got a 1959 Dodge Grumman curbside shorty camper but I need a grill
Did you guys get it on the chassis yet?
This is the guy from U-Haul keep pushing your UA-cam channel very good would like to see more videos on the things you’re doing to the car 👀
Need a next video! I wanna see more of the van
yes more updates please. Are you still going to put Duetz? smoren3@icloud.com
The Deutz is actually already in the van and running 😁 Updates coming soon...
Wow I'm trying to do the same thing to my 1977(Ford) Grumman Olson step van . I too like to put in a Duetz air diesel also . So far I have all of the parts for the 4x4 , zf5 s42 trans. and transfer case etc. What I don't have is Duetz engine yet. I don't even know how to get started with the engine yet . Maybe you can guide me in the right direction for DAD (Duetz Air Diesel).
Hi Steven, sounds exciting 👍 We were lucky to find our Deutz engine on Facebook marketplace. Have you looked into any commercial mining equipment resellers? In the past we’ve seen a few air-cooled Deutz engines for sale from “Old Forge Power Equipment”.
We need an update.....
I promise soon there will be one!
I'm doing the same thing, using an old mountain bike. What started as "I'll just build it from all the spare parts in my garage and a few new ones" ended up being "Look at all these shiny vintage inspired components I can buy!" So, it's gone from a relatively cheap bike to a $1000+ build.
Cycling rural China...now that is hard core as we used to say in the Army. Y'all are an inspiration. Enjoyed the video.
Thanks, Gary! We're happy you liked the video :)
What chassis did you end up using? I have a 1959 Kurbside I just began swapping onto a 2000 f-250 4x4 chassis
Nice! Ours is very similar just a touch older - 1990 F150 4x4, it’s a heavy duty frame so it’s probably the same as the F250 frame.
Free and Offbeat cool it looks like your using a deutz diesel? I got a Cummins to swap in with a Eaton five speed trans and a divorced transfer case
That's a German Fischer bike. The company that, pretty much, forced Gary Fisher in the U.S. to change the brand of his bikes from the original "Fisher Mountain Bikes" to "Gary Fisher".
Why u so buff dude?
LOL Natural selection I guess ;) I don't really work out, just rock climb a bit.
its a wonderful bike tour video. love the nature. awesome stuff. great job.
Thank you! It was a super nice experience to discover China on the bikes.
Your sound quality sucks bro 👎
Sorry dude, we'll work on better sound quality in the next video.
It's not that bad.. i've heard wayy worse.
Did you blow so much of your budget you could afford a shirt?
Lol, luckily there was some budget left for a shirt AND a sweater ;)
I thought every road was 10 lanes wide and made out of good old fashioned communist concrete .
😂 there are a few of those! But we tried very hard to avoid them 😉
Nice video. Insightful information about Swiss Airlines and the Visa agency.
Mikael Hedberg thank you! 🙏😄
i have done almost the same for my first touring bike , buy a used aluminum mtb 26"for 30euro ,,paint in black ,, change wheels, saddle crank and bearings and add drop bars , but i install a 8speed nexus and dynohub , and last year i buy new aluminum frame and fork and rebuild the bike , and i use the old one as winter bike ,
stelio darkphotographer Wow, sounds really good! How is the aluminium frame for riding? We were a little bit concerned about it and have chosen a chromoly steel frame for our bikes.
it ride just fine, i have also an 80is Peugeot road bike with modern component and i prefer aluminum bike it sims more stable . and is like i feel more buzz of the bad road with the steel bike even with the same components ,
Nice, good to know that the aluminum frame works too!
I went a similar route had a Saracen fortrak MTB alloy frame, had little use is bout 18 years old. Am lucky have a local company stripped off paint and powder coat frame black for £30 looks fab, had a surly troll fork is steel am hoping it give smother ride. All other running gear taken off my Surly when I converted it to E bike. So it will run a Son Dyno hub up front laced into black Halo SAS rims 26"x 2", Schwalbe Marathon tyres, Avid BB7 disc brakes, Shimano XT 2x10 with XTR shifters and a Titec Jbar similar to a Jones loop bar but way cheaper. Should be finished soon looking forward to riding my one of a kind bike.
