idk how tf you fit a wire under that windshield trim lol
Thanks - great tips - especially the lightbar wiring (I was wondering if I'd have to risk more leaks) and the yellow lights to avoid bugs. Curious - does that roofrack make it a pain to bring to the car wash?
What kind of slider is that
How do you keep the rubber in the front roof from flapping?
Hey Kelly, I just received my Prinsu rack. I’ve been watching different vids to pickup some tips, like using the rear feet fender washers.. Since it’s been on your GX for a bit, are there any updates on the rack? Also, did you swap out, or install different rear springs on your GX to better accommodate the extra overland gear/weight? Thanks.
Hey - the roof rack continues to be amazing! So tough, no rattles, love it! Make sure you use plenty of silicon caulk on the roof holes! I do have an upgraded suspension from Dobinson. The full build sheet is on my website at TXGXOverland.com. Love the ride and it supports the extra weight really well. Let me know if u got any other questions!
@@kellyshort ok thanks, take care
Been contemplating the Prinsu roof rack. I think it looks like the coolest of all the roof racks out there. Congrats on the install, looks great!
Thanks - I agree! Even with new companies coming out with roof racks for the GX I still prefer the Prinsu. Has held up incredibly well too!
@@TXGX460OverlandandOffRoad I ended up going with the frontrunner roof rack for my GX. It was a very tough decision but I’m glad I did it. I have a Subaru Outback that I’m for sure getting the prinsu though.
I have the front runner on my 07 sequoia, it's amazing. My wife just bought a 23 GX and want to put a rack on with a light bar like yours. Like your rig!
u got the factory 19 inch wheels or 18s?
18’s… drive em till they fall off then replace ‘em! 😂😂😂

@@dynamicoverlander9609 awesome - thanks for your support!!!
Great video Kelly. Quick question, your prinsu link rack says "40in cutout for lights" and the light link you provided is for a 32in light bar. Did you cut the rack yourself? Or did you order a different light rail? Thank you 🙏
Sorry for the late response! The total length on the light bar is about 40.5” and the cutout is about 43”. The gap is consumed by the mounting brackets for the light bar. The deflector comes cut from Prinsu (they also make a straight one). Hope that helps!
Hey , where did you get your front bumper that looks great ?

Having a heck of a time installing our awning. Where did you get the bolts you show dropping into the rails and what size are they?
Got mine from Ace Hardware. 1/4” stainless steel.
Where did you get the carriage bolts from? I had to modify the 1/4 carriage bolts from Home Depot to make it fit in my rack.
I get mine from Ace Hardware. They have a wide selection of sizes and lengths and they will typically let you take a few out to try on your roof rack before deciding which one to buy. I get the stainless steel ones of the highest grade available for durability and strength.
@@kellyshort nice, thanks for the quick reply.
Just ordered one for mine, looks like you’re in the DFW area as well.
Sure am - hit me up if you got questions!
Thanks a lot... it looks well fitted and reliable.
What are the dimensions of the crossbars?
What light brackets did you use to mount the light bar to the prinsu rack bar? I ordered that same light with the Cali raised brackets and it didn't sit like yours. I didn't want to mouth the bar to the windscreen.
It’s been a while since I installed those but from looking at them they appear to be the Prinsu brackets.
Also - I moved all of my Lexus GX content to a new channel called TX:GX - check it out here ua-cam.com/channels/_eQpx6eZupfipck_WoYcNw.html
Thanks a lot for the video - I am considering a Prinsu for my GX 460 ... I plan to use it with a roof top tent - the tent is 48" wide ... do you know if a 48" wide tent would fit in the rack or would it be too tight? Thanks! - Madhu
The inside width is 47” but i think most roof top tents sit slightly above the rail they are mounted to so it could overhang the side rails on each side by about 1/2”. Don’t know for sure though.
@@kellyshort Thanks a lot for the reply ... appreciate it!. Will look look for something 48" wide so that the Roof Top Tent can sit in the "tray". Bummer though since I really like the Prinsu design + features. Plus it looks really good on the GX
When you say put silicone in the holes do you mean inside the hole before threading the bolt or after?
I put silicone inside and around the edge of the hole the bolt goes in. Basically, you want silicone anywhere water could potentially get in.
What tire size is that? I am thinking about building my 2020 the same way
Tires: Falken Wildpeak 265/65/18 Also - I’ve moved all my Lexus videos to a dedicated channel here:https:ua-cam.com/channels/_eQpx6eZupfipck_WoYcNw.html Check it out and click subscribe!
@@kellyshort I'm thinking about 285 65 18 I think atleast a 2" lift would be necessary to clear those tires
I have a 1.5" Dobinson lift. With the tires it creates a 2" lift. Also - I created a dedicated UA-cam channel for my Lexus here: ua-cam.com/channels/_eQpx6eZupfipck_WoYcNw.html. Hope you check it out and subscribe!
@@aj-lhe That would look awesome! A couple of thoughts: 1) that's a 32" tire - won't likely fit in your spare tire spot so you'll have to figure out where to relocate the spare 2) If I remember correctly - above a 2" lift you start needing to adjust UCAs and a diff drop 3) Since I don't have tires that big I can't vouch for what lift size you would need. Reach out to Kyle Fogle at Treaty Oak Off Road. He does an amazing job of recommending the right size and type lift! 4) Let me know how it goes!!!
it turned out really bad ass. so great!

I run same rack 👏🏼👍🏼 (Lexus_luthor14)
Great vid! I recently bought the Cali raised led but the prinsu brackets I bought in addition do not work for the Lexus version of the Prinsu. I noticed your led brackets are not like mine. Could you share where you bought those brackets?
I believe i used the Prinsu led brackets here: prinsudesignstudio.com/product/prinsu-light-bar-mount-2/. I want the led light bar to sit very close to the wind deflector but the Cali brackets were offset too much (and were silver, not my choice of color). For $20 you might want to give the Prinsu’s a try. Good luck and let me know how it turns out!
@@kellyshort Thanks! I'll pick them up. I did contact Cali Raised to let them know. They asked for photos showing the fitment issues. Hopefully, they'll come out with some brackets that will fit the Lexus version of the rack.

Dang! I noticed the clearance issue with the rear mount too. Do u recall what size washers you used?
I want to say it was a 1/4” fender washer that was about 1” in diameter. But don’t quote me on that.
Thanks! Your vid has provided some inspiration with your side lights. Thanks for sharing 😊

Helpful video. I just ordered the light and rack because of it. How did you route the wiring down the A-pillar? did you have to remove the trim or were you just able to tuck it under somehow?
Yes - the windshield trim on either side pops off. You’ll probably need to replace the little plastic receiver clips that the trim inserts into. Use lots of silicon. Lots. I lost two pairs at highway speed before using enough silicone.
