There are some things one can not unsee. I wish I hadn't seen this movie.
Are you sure you don't mean Saltburn?😅 Sadly I didn't make that....
Looks great.
they did this. this was great on every level
Excellent
What camera settings did you use for this?
what setup/lens/audio TELL US!!!
BMPCC Original 1080p. Metabones Speedbooster. Sigma 18-35mm lens. Rokinon 10mm lens.
Hi Andrew! I just saw your film Sandburn last nite and really enjoyed it. Its great to see people still using the og BMPCC. I have one and still use it along with the 2.5k BMCC all the time. I wanted to tell you a little while ago I created a UA-cam channel to host short and feature films from filmmakers all over to help promote thier films. If you dont mind I would love to add your Sandburn short film to the channel. I can leave links for your FB and IG channel or whatever you want added. I can also add actors name etc. Here is a link to the channel ua-cam.com/channels/Z3bKbJrP-uQPG6Ons2u79w.html
This looks better than the Black magic pocket 6k !!! Very Awesome !!! Also what ND filter you were using .....
Thanks! I love the OG Pocket camera! Only used a cheap variable ND for external scenes. I had to colour correct to remove a slight green shift from it.
What camera?
Blackmagic Pocket Original. 1080p - Metabones Speedbooster and Sigma 18-35mm lens. Rokinon 10mm lens.
Brilliant! How you make that tomb? What luts?
Thank you! The tomb was wooden set walls and the blocks were sculpted from polystyrene, then covered with sand and paint. Then we put down 3 tonnes of building sand!
I loved the final composite! I specifically came here because I wanted to know how you got all that nice falling motion. I loved learning that you just did it with fishing line - that rules!
Thank you so much! Simple is best!
This was a ton of fun! I really loved the puppetry, and the subtle heat waves during the finale. Lots to be proud of here!
Thank you!
Nice job Andrew. I’m on a screenwriting course at the moment and I will use sketching as a tool.
Great idea! Let me know how it goes!
Awesome work! I like to make a shortfilm as well with this camera. I am just in love with it. Keep it up cuz this is good stuff!
Thank you! Agreed it's such a great little camera when used in the right scenarios. Yes make your films!
To me, the BMPC OG produces the most cinematic image out of the cameras in it's price range and well beyond it.
I agree! It's a real powerhouse.
Solo... did you direct, dp, light yourself? Impressive. Nice puppetry/practicals...
Yes this was a lockdown project. Shot about 2-3 shots per evening after work and put it together over a couple of months.
Respect. Great Great idea
Any reason particular reason 6k over 6kpro or G2?
Partly budget. But mainly because I have been a Blackmagic user for a few years and like the whole ecosystem. I also have external ND filters, v mount batteries and an external monitor on my camera rig so don't really need the extras of the Pro at this point. Thanks for the question!
On the strength of Sandburn you should have many more subs! BTS for Sandburn would be great, but I realize it’s an older project. Quality of actors, location, set design were superb! Figured you bought the 6k before the pro & G2 came out. Continued success!
Superb!
Thanks so much Daniel!
Awesome! I love the idea of just sketching out the images in your head first, and then making sense of them later, piecing things together.
Thanks Sarah! That’s the hope! 😅
I have just the friend in mind, heheh...
Perfect! Please do share it with them 🤣
Nice!!!!!!💪🏽
Thank you!!
Look great man, good job 👍
Thanks so much Keegan!
Amazing work Andrew. What a great film pretty sure you’re on your way.
Thanks so much Lee! On the way somewhere...! 😄
@@AndrewEllinas 🤣
Looks great... Great shots and lighting... What lighting was used '
Thanks Johnnard! I had two Amaran P60x light panels and a small non-branded cheap LED light from Amazon. Plus a couple of practical light bulbs.
Nice work love the practicals
Thank you! Always love to do in-camera effects.
The picture out of the BMPCC is really beautiful! Great footage 👍
Thank you very much! Love this little camera!
You are going to be the next big UA-camr one day! #1 place to + your subs 'promo sm'!!
Very inspirational 😊
Thank you!
Nice
Thanks
Amazing job, Looks cinematic...Peace
Thanks so much!
To overcome the spider's curse, simply quote a bible verse!
Doh!
Word!🎉
Atonishing!!! Excellent work Andrew....You are a PRO!
Thanks Federico. Very kind words!
Great Work!!!Amazing! Any Shoulder rig Handheld/Gimbal or all sticks? IR Cut filters?
Thanks Samaj! Glad you enjoyed. It was a mix of sticks and shoulder rig, and a couple of dolly track shots in the set (cheap tripod dolly on plastic pipes). No IR filter but I used a variable ND filter for exteriors.
This looks amazing. What lenses were used?
Thanks Oliver! The main lens was a Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 Art lens with a metabones speed booster (Nikon to BMPCC m4/3) and I also used one wide angle Samyang 10mm T3.1
@@AndrewEllinas Great work. In my opinion this is probably the best short film ever made with the original blackmagic pocket. Very inspiring! Thanks for sharing it.
@@oliverb5798 very kind! I love that little camera! Please do share with anyone who needs a little inspiration 🙂
Thank you for this Andrew. Every now and then we need a reminder of what's capable with the gear we already have. This is a shining example of what can be done in the right hands, and visually looks as good as any movie. There is a real matte texture to these cameras that absolutely destroys all the other newer digital looking releases. While I know many will say it can all be achieved in Post... I get that however there is an organic magic that comes straight from sensor level that's undeniable and hard to replicate. Amazing work my friend! I'm Inspired!
Thanks so much for the comment. Glad it has inspired you. Feel free to share with anyone else who may need a little creative inspiration...we all need that sometimes! 🙂
I am seriously impressed by this short. This goes to show that it’s not about the gear but the person behind it. The og bmpcc is amazing no doubt but you took this to a whole other level. Great storytelling and cinematography. I do have a question though, what did you use for your audio recording? It’s so crisp and professional.
Thank you for the kind words Jonathan! Love this little camera. I did have a professional sound recordist for the shoot...we used Saramonic wireless lavs on the talent, including inside the helmets, and also had a shotgun mic on a boom pole (not sure what mic that was I'm afraid!)
The quality of the BMPCC OG is incredible, which codec did you use?
Hi Bruno, agreed it's a great little camera. It was all shot in RAW.
Where can I watch the movie?

Brilliant - very well done.
Fascinating stuff - well done Andrew!
Thank you!!
Agree with Nic, loved watching this!
I frigging love it! Get it out to festivals!!!
Thanks so much! Onward...!
Hi andrew its me Joe! I just subscribed
joe downing hey! Thanks Joe! Hope you enjoyed it! :)
@@AndrewEllinas Yeah i did enjoy Crawl Space and Sandburn!
Well done! Excellent production value!
Thanks very much!
love it! was totally expecting babies at the end and you went the opposite route
Thanks so much Dan!
I was expecting babies, so you turned things upside down on me, nice touch and not easy to do since I write Horror.
I am impressed. What camera did you use? Pretty good dark shooting. Wish you lived near New Hampshire, we could collaborate. i think what you did here was just fantastic. Still not sure how you did not burn down your garage.
Thanks so much! This was a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K (shot in 4K) - it does decently well in low light! Fire effects were done with practical lighting and compositing stock footage elements.
@@AndrewEllinas I think you did good job telling a story with the camera and the shots, not easy to do without a bunch of dialogue.
Amazing work Andy! Love the creature effects!
Thanks Max! We’ll have to do something filmy again one day!
Nuke it from orbit, it's the only way to be sure...
Henry Bevan this is the perfect response! 😂👍🏻
Awesome. I'm never using my shed again. Thanks.
You’re welcome! 😂
