Another 70's Prog band with only the guitarist keeping the flame for a tribute band. Like Yes, Camel and could say Hackett for the Genesis faithful. But of the guitarist led tributes, this one sounds pretty darn good. Eric who? I did not know Phil had an injury, you see, age is creeping in..

THANK YOU FOR TAPING THIS!!!!! One the favorite songs from my high school years-- absolutely LOVED the Livgren epics! I had NO IDEA it had been this long since it was performed. I saw them do it-- the united Mysteries and Mayhem with this as one piece, and I even had a recording of this from a radio broadcast of a Chicago concert! I saw them every tour from the debut album up to the Two for the Road and Point of Know Return albums.

This song got a HUGE ovation from the crowd in Seattle tonight (9/8/23). My son was with me and had never heard it, and he was blown away. For me it was the highlight (pinnacle?) of the show. This band sounded so good, it's hard to believe Ronnie can still hit all the high notes...he's 63 years old!! Tom Brislin was a great pick up for this band, he is a fantastic player. @@test4elThis guy was not an understudy to Ragsdale. He was playing in another band in New Jersey and happened to know Tom Brislin and Zak Rizvi, who recommended him when Ragsdale left for the second time. Eric was Phil's drum tech for decades, though, and he is an excellent drummer who knows the music of Kansas as well as anyone could. He's been touring with them since at least the mid-90s, I believe. He has filled in before on occasion, but this is the longest he's had to step in. Also, the band was quite surprised that he showed up to the first rehearsal already knowing all the songs. They thought they were going to have to teach them to him and work with him, but this dude is real.

@@jaimesorli2436 Phil has always said that he's the best drummer for Kansas, but Eric is clearly the second best. He's been with the band for something like 30 years now. He knows this music very well and is the closest thing to Phil you will find. He certainly has a similar style and the technical chops to handle this kind of complex music. I'm not sure why you can't see that, but I honestly feel sorry for you that you can't appreciate his drumming, because he's excellent. He's also Phil's choice, so if you respect Phil then you should respect his choice of partial replacement for the part of the show that he can't play without aggravating his injury.
