Intro:
Hi everyone thank you a lot for the support
Today we are going to attempt to restore this hand held heavy duty drill capable of drilling through steel using up to 24mm twist drills.
Most likely produced in the late 60's, this model has been replaced by the Bosch GBM 24-2 E .
Normally used on a stand as drill press or a magnetic base, this drill is meant to be handheld operated too.
But lacking of a safety clutch I wouldn't recommend to do that, it can be done let's say up to 13mm but on bigger sizes and especially on Morse taper bit can results in serious injuries

At last Dany it's running great, well done. I have made a Scotchbrite pad 'flag' for my drill to very gently hone plated cylinders.. I'm sure you did, but did you add sealant to the edges of that transfer cap?.. Don't want any more air leaks ! lol
Hi Simon great to read you again. Answer no I didn't as the gasket was fine just little bit of oil to seal properly. I've avoided to use liquid gasket as I've seen it goes inside and it's not ideal. It doesn't cause damages as it's too thin and soft but it's better to avoid problem. I thought it wasn't running that great as it doesn't rev up like a chainsaw for saying. But I've seen that all of them bog little bit while revving up, both because the wheel it's heavy and the centrifugal brake. It's little bit too rich but I'll keep it like that at least till the third fuel tank. Then I'll hook a tachometer And spot on 9000 RPMs
@@Dany_FIX_DIY Oh ok Dany, I didn't see a transfer cap gasket in the video.. You're right, Stihl use red Dirko sealant for the cylinder caps it can swell in petrol and break off.. Yes, they do bog a little then rev to the limit set by the ignition coil.. Thanks for your reply, Simon..
@@simonwiggle1791 thanks to you for commenting, it's really important for me to have a feedback. About the sealant, I've discovered that it makes an huge mess while disassembling the new cylinder to put the honed one... It ended up everywhere inside. And I didn't even put that much on the gaskets

Thanks. Yes it runs but I didn't show it because the video was already too long, and I didn't replace the worn carbon brushes. I made the video during a time period I could not go out cause my health.
I have restored at least six of these on my channel. I'm just kidding. I've never even seen one, and I have no videos. You, on the other hand have sufficient content to monetize, if you can do a tad more marketing. No criticism, I am saying you are closer than you think. Your camera work and editing put you ahead of some who have thousands of subscribers.
Thank you so much, it's great to have a positive feedback like yours. I'm always trying to improve my videos, I have a lot yet to learn . I've attempted to promote my channel on Facebook and Instagram but you have to get people stick to your page and it's harder than UA-cam. I could ask a friend of mine to share my channel but I'd like to have my own subscribers not his ones (he has 3+ million subs). It's a slow process but this video is the most viewed so far, so the goal might be very close.
Interesting refurbishing efforts. Looks like you brought it back to usable condition again. I've never seen such a power tool but wouldn't mind owning one as well... Thumbs Up!

I was hunting for something unusual to restore and found this one, thought it was cool and I didn't even know something like that would exist TBH. So I bought it. Now I'm deciding what to restore or repair next. I have two chainsaws I'd like to work on as the winter is coming and I'd need one in time of emergency

I know, I've tried many times to get Stihl equipment from ebay auction and they get beyond their value in a matter of seconds. I remember an Ms 170 for spares and repair, it got 180£ plus shipping plus vat plus import taxes It was already too expensive in first place but adding all the extras was just insane

@@Dany_FIX_DIYthe carburetor diaphragm need a gasket first. It’s gasket, diaphragm and then gasket, metal plate. I’ll send you a link to a carburetor repair on these K770s.

@@vadimslyusarchuk3212 this might explain the original carburetor continuously spitting fuel no matter if running or not
check that the bottom of the carb is seated properly in the lip on the cylinder,that could be the cause of your fuel problem,🤔
@@paulfitzsimons883 thanks for the advice, I've checked it but I've discovered that the problem is caused by the intake plate which is not compatible with the cylinder I've installed. I need an earlier model intake, I've already bought it and it's on the way. Hopefully in few weeks I'll be able to upload a new video about this consaw
@@Dany_FIX_DIY two different types one is a 10mm and the other a 12mm
I have never had to adjust a replacement carburetor even the cheap Amazon ones once I put it on the machine I don’t have the issue. All my Hondas and other machines that have had carburetors changed do not have issues anymore and I do not turn a screw on them, that’s why I buy them because I’m not that good with adjusting them. I’ve messed up a perfectly good carburetor before turning screws.😂
Well you should try to get something inexpensive which you can destroy and try. I think I've destroyed only one chainsaw engine in the learning process. I think I was 15 or 16 at the time, today after 10 years I use a tachometer to be safe, I can go without but on this machine you have to be spot on or below. If it spins faster an abrasive wheel might explode potentially causing injuries

Oh how annoying, I think Husqvarna changed the cylinder design in 2013.. I think the distance between the inlet tracts is different on the older cylinder.. Did you manage to sort it out and get the saw running?.. Cheers, Simon..
It is waiting on the shelf for the correct intake plate, you are right I didn't know about this intake differences. I've bought a new intake plate on August which was meant to be the right one. Unfortunately it arrived earlier on this week from the U.S. , they sent me the exact same one and I was going to make the last video covering this repair, delayed till the correct plate comes in the mail. I've ordered an used one this time, again from the US, it's likely to arrive here in Italy on October. Hopefully it will be the right one. This week video has been delayed because I've had problems with this one too unfortunately. But at least I can sort it out easily.
Excellent and useful video.. I've just finished rebuilding the same machine.. I had to split the cases and replace the crank bearings too.. A lot of work, all running great now.. :))
Hi Simon, thank you so much for sharing your experience. I hope not to have to do that as this consaw is very frustrating to work on. But kinda learning too because it's the one and only I've had to work on and fortunately it doesn't belong from a customer. I've bought it cheap hoping for an easy repair but ended up in a real nightmare.

@@simonwiggle1791 yes they are but everything is like that. I'm in the process of making a new video I should have uploaded it a week ago but unfortunately planets didn't aligned and it would probably take another week. I try to keep my videos very genuine, so the disassembling, repairing, restoring processes are not staged. Video editing makes them look very short but sometimes in reality I've spent even an entire day to just loosen a bolt 😅

Thanks I really appreciate you enjoy it. Unfortunately this project ended up to be an abortion. It was supposed to be a restoration, but turned into a repair, and after a month or trying I just had to accept the fail and move on other projects. I think we'll see part 4 , not sure when but it's a matter of time, as I took it personally. Thanks again for commenting, it's really important to me and encourages me to get better on video making .
Well you'll be happy to know that I've just ordered a component to try to get it running. By the end of this month it should be here in Italy from the USA.

That's why I'm not uploading most repairs I do . The vast majority of them are easy stuff nothing extremely interesting to see in this case was just the diaphragm and often I have to get things fixed in a hurry because the customer wants the tool repaired quickly, and it's not worth loosing time completely disassembly something just for video purposes. I've charged 30 euros maybe for this repair . If you haven't already subscribed and you like to watch restoration videos , I think you'd like what's coming on august. I've had take a break cause to health issues and I'm still recovering from surgery. But hopefully next week I'll be able to start working on a new video. Hi, thanks for commenting, it's very important for me. I'd like to receive more comments from the viewers to interact and help each others with our projects and build a little community. Anyways yes I did refit the shaft and the bearings, I did off camera to not loose parts because my actual workshop is few square metres and I have to keep the bench always ready for new projects. I've ordered a new carburettor for this Husqvarna cause it's the cause of the malfunction which made me gave up. But because I bought parts for it I cannot leave it incomplete. And maybe next video we will see it running . What's going on with yours? I've had little bit of struggle with the installation of the intake assembly because of the lack of space , especially for fitting the return line from the carb to the primer bulb , despite I have thin fingers it has been a challenge .
Hi, I have problem with my spindle when mounting a cutting blade. When I tighten the blade onto the saw it doesn't rotate easily. I think it might be the bearings or maybe something else. The motor runs nicely no problems at that end. It's just the cutting head that needs some attention. Taking the saw apart was a good opportunity to give it a good clean if nothing else , it needed it !
@@nicholastighe8450 I think you might be surprised. The thing works just like that. I didn't know either, but on the cutting head beneath the pulley there's a brake assembly, which is probably what you are referring for not turning easily . It's mounted on the pulley with 4 machine screws and has 4 little spring loaded pads, those run onto a stamped steel bushing fastened to the alluminum cutting head . When the rpms reach enough speed , centrifugal force pull the pads away from the bushings , releasing the brake . You still might have a bad bearing but you can just remove the pulley and check if there's any excessive run-out or noise in the bearings.
Yeah I thought it might be the brake but checked that and it seems fine. I am going to try rebuilding the cutting head and give it a try with maybe some new bearings

restration? no!!! just simple cleaning and some paint!!!
Well let's talk about it. I've actually sanded for days the scratches off , I've then polished the plastic housing,the only painted bit is the aluminium gear housing since there wasn't any point of mirror polishing it because I use the tools I restore . No paint on plastics I rather leave them all scratched then apply paint on parts I actually touch while using (watch the Hitachi grinder restoration for example). What you intend for restoration? For me is taking back to almost original brand new conditions . But it has to be worth too . The only thing you might have though was paint is actually silicon spray oil , which I apply to plastics after polishing to clean them up from the abrasives residue and protect the plastics from UV rays produced while I weld stuff. I apply it even on brand new tools as conservation measure . I wasn't unfortunately able to remove the chuck cause was stuck , and the gear housing too I wasn't able to open it so I've decided to leave as it was cause it is actually a working tool . I hope to have gave you a answer about all the video .

Nice video , a bit long on the repetitive cleaning & sanding actions we got the gist of it in the first ten seconds or so . Tip. Uuse a sheet of cardboard as a rack and identify each screw position as you insert them in the cardboard as not all screw are the same length on every power tool body hole ( it's getting better on the latest machines though ) . Photograph and print off the wiring too , then heat seal them in clear envelopes so you have a record for future reference of where the wires go , unless you make a video of everything I've been given a box of dismantled bits several times all of the same make & model a picture would have helped on the first few. . When reassembling always slip the screws in the plastic holes and very gently turn anticlockwise till you feel the screw drop in the already threaded hole then gently wind it in clock wise , many a power tool has come to me with a lot of the screw threads stripped out . Repaired with Araldite in the damaged hole and a lightly greased new screw inserted but not fully tightened till the resin has fully cured a day or so later .
Thanks for the tips, never thought about the screws position. I usually get them at the first time , it's already 12 year I'm working on power tools. In this case they are all machine screws M3 and M5 , Fein uses brass threaded inserts on all their tools ,which is great. And this particular model has an alluminum housing with plastic over molding, which surprised me didn't know that. The idea of printing the name plates is a great tip because this would help especially while ordering parts . Happened few times I've had to guess which model was but fortunately they were Bosch, very easy to work with
