Lockdown: An Aerial Time Capsule For Kelowna
Переглядів 54 тис.4 роки тому
The clips in this video were captured over several mornings in Kelowna, BC at the peak of the lockdowns implemented during the pandemic. This reminder of the quiet and the stillness in our community at that time is dedicated to the countless essential workers and their families who put their health and safety on the line for all of us.

Excellent interview. Brandon's easily my favorite hospitality/interior photographer. And is def a friendly guy he replies to questions on IG really nice. Shawn is no slough either his hospitality photos are delicious to look it. Thanks for the gentlemen.
Thanks to both of you
Thank you so much for theses interviews, these are so very helpful. Great Job
Thanks for this interview, are great
Thank you, great selection of subjects for discussion. I agree principal is important and I'm glad more and more photographers are realizing this.
Thank you
Your video is very beautiful. I like it a lot. I have been trying to talk to you for a long time. I am waiting for your response. Please give me a chance to talk to you.💚
very interesting conversation!
Great interview Shawn. I was on the edge of my seat when you asked him about work visas and travel. I know most of my colleagues simply say they are tourists to avoid all the red tape. On the rare occasion, I'll get work visas for my crew.
I cannot love this interview more. I respect and admire Brandon and his work tremendously. Deeply grateful for this interview to have some insights into his workflow, thoughts, and methods.
I also work with one light in this fashion, so cool to hear Brandon is on the same page. Learned so much from this interview, thank you both!
Incredible interview, all my admiration for Brandon, spearhead in hospitality photography, grateful for taking the time to share his advice and experiences.
another great interview thanks so much!
Great video thank you! Just now following your great work too on insta!
The portion on silks and tablecloths was super eye opening for an amateur architectural/interior photographer.
Did he say 15 hotel shots per day? This has to be an error. 10 per day would normally be max and 6-8 per day for high end work. I think you said 15 shots per day for him. Id like to clarify this.
Thank you for a great interview!👏
Great Interview Shawn and Brandon! So much valuable information.
Engaging interview, bravo Shawn. And Brandon very well done my Instagram friend, you did our industry proud, very well done.
Thank you Gerry. I sincerely appreciate that coming from you!
Lovely interview, very in depth questions and great answers by Brandon. Technical questions about his misfortune with the Canon R5 sensor shake, isn’t that just the image stabilization that should be off? Thank you!
Hey Oscar. Unfortunately it was not that easy a fix, and believe me I tried every setting combination. The sensor movement happened only while tethered and using live view, and it was a known issue for Canon. It appears that Canon may have finally addressed it as one doesn't hear about it anymore. I am still patiently waiting for an upgrade to the 5DS though!
@@brandonbarre3037 thanks a lot for your reply, that is definitely a bummer, that’s a big oversight that one would hope they would catch before releasing new model. I generally feel like architectural photography is not really taken into account when developing new cameras, it’s all burst rates, buffer speeds and cramming 2000 autofocus points. Anyway, I admire the quality of your work and your approach to what seems like very complex subjects. I mean this as a compliment, I think no one would know from looking at your work if you decided to switch to the newest and bestest medium format. Have a great night Oscar
Great photographer and very informative video :) Thank you Shawn & Brandon!! Its very interesting to get some insights. One question: Which platform did Brandon suggest for photographers?
Great interview! Thanks Shawn for making it happen and Brandon for sharing so much!
My favorite photographer and big inspiration for the trajectory of my ever evolving career. Pumped to be watching this interview!
Crazy how Government used fear to force people to get vaccinated. Sad to see people suffer due to the lies about the vaccine.
Just discovered these interviews-- really great!
A great interview, learned many good ideas from you both. Where did you develop your T&Cs online form that you email out to clients? I’d love to implement that method in my own work.
Thank you for your nice comments! I used many of the clauses found within APAlmanac's contract template ( apalmanac.com/product/the-contract-template ) and simply created an online Wordpress form with checkboxes next to the terms and conditions that applied to my business.
@@shawntalbotphotography thanks a mill, Shawn, that’s great. I was aware of their contract but your methodology to implement it is smart. Thanks again.
Thanks, very interesting! And really surprising that he is not using strobes. Would love to see a tutorial of his work!
Thank you for doing this Shawn! Dylan, I love the menu option for clients!
It’s been a lifesaver
Is this all in Kelowna?
Nice job!
Very nice looking a city
Incredible shots!
Very misleading. Of course nobody is gonna be out on the streets at the crack of dawn in summer and maybe a weekend. Sure a bunch of parking lots r empty since the business doesn't open at like 630 am. I live near the corner of hwy 97 and highway 33 and there was barely a difference.
Amazing video, Shawn! Would it be OK if I use small parts of it in my upcoming video as a background illustration of where I lived when I talk about Kelowna? I'll include a credit, obviously. Let me know! :)
Amezing very beautyful city
Great video! Loved this, thanks for sharing! :)
Beautiful Apocalypse
COVID19 insanity. God help us.
It's a hoax. Don't worry.
I work 5 days a week, at any given time of day being a casual. I have never once seen any of these roads like this.
Great video. The footage is taken right as the sun is cresting the mountain, which would put it at about 6:30 in the morning. Still makes a big difference, but 6:30am on a Sunday on any give week wouldn't equate to much traffic and full parking lots.
WOW - incredible job Shawn. Something to look back on and hopefully never have to see again in our lifetime
We were there weeks ago and people are all around these areas
I’ll be visiting Kelowna for a short period soon, are all the restaurants closed as well as the public transportations? 😨
Buses are still running perfectly fine! Although some of the regular schedules have changed and some restaurants are open for delivery
Huh? Where's the footage of the dude yesterday jamming on his horn at the Harvey intersection because people weren't driving fast enough.?
Amazing! Glad I have decided to come home!
Get the picture? Canadians are gone. The country is empty , ready for the next landlords and tenants to come and take it.
Well done, this is beautiful!
Great video, really puts it into perspective how crazy and unprecedented these times really are. Awesome edit.
We have always been in crazy times. Just leaving your house before the pandemic was crazy times 😂
Well done! Bravo!
and when the humans are gone all that's left is a concrete jungle.
I was thinking the same thing. It's it crazy how much concrete there is. It's hard to imagine that the Kelowna needed to build so many streets and parking lots in the video, but I've seen Kelowna during rush hour.
@@LindseyMonica Kelowna's street & traffic design is fucking godawful lol
