First of all thanks for your detailed in depth video. Second I have an issue when Player 1 uses Mouse and Keyboard the text chat opens randomly in PvP matches. It happens every now and then when the left bumper on the controller is pressed and another input is made on the keyboard. It doesn't open the text chat every time what makes it quite random. We can reproduce this by holding any button on the keyboard like W for walking and then pressing the left bumper over and over again. Is there any solution to fix this or a mod to disable text chat indefinitely?

How does this mod affect cutscenes? Is split screen or does it go back to full screen for cutscences?

This is a lifesaver, making an adults dream come true (PC splitscreen), and making ANOTHER dream come true... being able to watch someone's first time experience with the franchise. so with split screen on playing halo ce there are a few bugs such as on the second mission when you go to rescue the marines around the sites if you pick up a sniper off the ground the game will crash, this happened twice specifically near the first crash site after getting the worthog. Just figured i mention this one bug as for the others im not sure how to explain or show them.

Is there a way to use KB/M for more than player 1? Like is there a way for player 1 and 2 to both use KB/M?

Just tried it and it even works with mods like cursed halo. Awesome.

0:42 That's... Weird? I remember that doing the +3 player campaign glitch in halo 3 would crash the game whenever a Cortana cutscene appeared. Is this happening with the mod or was it accounted for?

I need to play with this some more, but the way it handles the control schemes is a little funky. The first time I tried it out, I launched blood gulch. Both of my controllers had inverted look and flight controls (yay), but player 1 used my normal button layout, while player 2 used something else (default controls, I suppose). I figured out that I could actually get around that by using my Xbox elite controller for player 2 because the buttons are all remappable and that data is saved to the controller, itself. Cool, cool. At one point, I paused the game and went into the game settings to adjust the controls, and somehow I lost my custom settings! Player 2 was unaffected, but player 1 no longer had inverted look and flight. I finally figured out that I could restore my controls the way I wanted them by going back into the settings, restoring to default, saving, then setting them the way I want and saving again. Pain in the ass, but OK. But when I next launched a campaign mission, player 2 lost inverted look and flight. **OK, I'm still figuring this out, but Steam can also remap the controls on all of your controllers (it basically inserts itself between Windows and the game and "translates" your inputs), so that should allow me to get the desired control scheme on all controllers. (I'm sure most everyone here already knows all of this, but I'm new to Steam.) One issue I am still having though--one of the controllers I'm using is actually a DualSense from my PS5. By default, MCC doesn't support it. Steam allows me to use it by doing its controller translation thing, but the performance is terrible. One second it'll seem alright, then it will suddenly get VERRRRRY laggy. So I guess it's best to stick with Xbox controllers if possible. Fortunately, my buddies can bring their own when they visit.

At first I thought this video was saying that I could play the Halo 1 campaign with up to four players, and I was like, "AWESOME!" Then I couldn't figure out why it wasn't working for me. But now I think I understand--the mod just restores the same split-screen support that these games have on the Xbox console. You can't get more than 2 players in the Halo 1 campaign because that game NEVER supported it. But the later games do. Oh, well. Still a very cool mod! I'm trying to make 4-player split-screen modded Halo 1 multiplayer work on my PC and pipe it to the TV so I can play with my buddies, kind of like we used to do 20 years ago on a modded OG Xbox (yeah, I'm old). Modded Halo was much more limited back then, but still super fun. With this mod, I think I have all the tools I need to make it work again, this time with 4K graphics and much more sophisticated mods. Really looking forward to it! Thank you so much to whoever made this!

I just sent this video link to someone who wanted to play Split Screen. I haven't received confirmation that they got it working but assuming they did- someone, somewhere out there in the world just had their day or weekend and beyond made. Thank you for making this accessible

only works with gamepad? i'm trying to play with K/M but when am i in the game, the gamepad and the K/M doesn't work, the splitscreen still on but i can't move any of the masterchiefs

If i wanted to play matchmaking, how would i disable the mod?

If you have a black screen after launching a multiplayer game => update last Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable, restart your computer and it will work (it was my issue).Thanks a lot

Thanks for posting this guide! Do you need to use that steamdeck/linux launch command for steamlink like if you're using an nvidia shield?

This is great! I am having some trouble though, on steamdeck, when I go to play, my inputs aren't read. I have split screen and the game is going, but I can't get my controls to actually do anything. I am using 2 wired controllers. I select P1 and controller 1 and P2 with controller 2, and yet all that happens is my mouse moves around, but our characters are stationary.

I really wish the tank gun enacted a script sort of like Minecraft creative mode, whereas you can do whatever you want with it but achievements won’t be awarded.

I was able to download the mod, but when i try to add another player, it does not. Any ideas? I have two xbox one controllers hooked up to bluetooth, which works for other games. Am i missing something? Do i need an update somewhere?

not sure if i recommend downloading the latest mod, the game will crash on the main menu no matter what.

Hey! I downloaded the file, put it where you did, and launched without anticheat. How do I get the other players to join? When I press A or Y on the Xbox controllers i have hooked up, they just assume P1 ownership instead of adding a player. Thanks and very impressive mod!
