LIONESSES - Standing on the shoulders of giants!
LUTON BLUE PLAQUE
At last - some recognition for Harry and June Batt and their pioneering women's football teams that represented England in European Championships and two World Cups in the late '60s and early '70s.
Most players were drawn from Chiltern Valley Ladies FC, based in Luton. Most were schoolgirls in their mid-teens playing in front of the proverbial 'one man and a dog'. Next they're in the Aztec Stadium, Mexico with crowds of 80,000.
After a long campaign by 'Harry's girls' and his son Keith, the FA and Luton Heritage Forum have provided a permanent memorial at the place where it all started.
We were privileged to record the occasion for posterity and offer our warmest congratulations to you all.
