Hello and welcome!
Most videos on this channel are filmed locally in the Ballarat region along both of the Western Lines, The Standard Gauge and the Broad Gauge Line. Then sometimes depending on what's running I'll head up to the North East for some rail action.

Many thanks for your really enjoyable article, it brings back many memories to me, as my first job was the very last call boy at the Ballarat East Loco Depot, this towards the end of steam, I really enjoyed exploring the Depot, as the Steam Engines were being repaired, our under steam, there were also R Class stored there, and I remember that there were trees growing through the boiler.Keep up the great work
@@raymondkennedy9570 Thank you so much would have been great to see trains in and out of Ballarat during the steam days and into the diesel days.
That last section of track at the end is like a straight up roller coaster ride.lol
Yea the section between Glendonald Road and Tourello is very hilly.
Love you videos. Have would love to see the trains pass with a camera each side different lighting and views
Nice collection, night time video is always hard, but a reasonable result, what type of camera did you use for the night clips?
@@dieseldavetrains8988 Thank you I use the same camera for day videos as I do for night videos.
What is the track speed through Ballarat Station?
@@Peterbranch-j3f 30km’s an hour
Well done enjoyed it
@@jamesburnside3023 Thank you
Steel train in first video carrying what looks like power poles, plus containers, usually goes on the Brisbane-Adelaide intermodal, probably cancelled. Aurizon/TGE eating into the Pacific National customer base. Monday steel train a week or two back was 1,800m long through here but only four wagons had loading in them, the rest were "fresh air". Nice collection of video's.
Yea think it was a bit of mixed load due to one of the trains not running the day prior.
@@Trammann I am sure of it, 3AB6 and 6AB6 have been frequently cancelled due to poor loading and their wagons attached either to steel trains or the Sydney-Perth SP's and vice versa. Pacific National running two trip trains out of Goobang Junction to Sydney and return collecting the Brisbane and Adelaide loading. See the SWTT/MTP for details.
👍👍😁
A nice little video did you get a video on the old 80 class behind the loco shed and a couple of old 45 class down the yard? Old derelict.
Thank you wasn’t able to get any videos of the other locos but did get a couple of photos of them.
Great video, great scenery too, love that area. Cheers from Wagga.
@@jamescrawford9883 Thank you lovely country side up there I’m planning on doing another trip up that way for a few weeks at sometime.
Why don’t we use the GE & EMD power that they use in the USA?
a few reasons. their locos are built wider and higher. they'll be too close to catenary wires and scrape against train platforms. and the modern ones are built heavier. just shy of 200 tonnes. too heavy for nearly all tracks in the country. except the north-west iron ore lines where they are used. or possibly some coal lines in nsw. the new inland rail might be built to take the us locos.
Fantastic video mate, looks like it would have been a great chase. Great to see the X also getting used on it's own too
@@G516R700 Thank you yes was a very good day out got lucky with the cloud at most spots and good to see the X on a solo trip.
Well done video
@@jamesburnside3023 Thanks glad you enjoyed it.
Why are they building a passing loop, they had one there years ago??
@@Peterbranch-j3f The Old loop had trailable facing points and V/Line didn't want pass trains using them, so when services extended to Maryborough in 2010 they ripped up the loop and are now replacing it with a new one.
@@Trammanntaking about 18 months to complete it so far too. Hopefully ready for this harvest, might improve BG freight paths fingers crossed. They already have the 24 turnaround cycle which would favour it over the SG which takes an extra 12 hours.
There was always a small siding there for many years then they made it a loop with trailing points, not a good idea, then they ripped it up, and now they're replacing it with a longer loop, but as everyone knows, V/line in the country works at a snail's pace so heaven only knows when it will be finished. Also I noticed a lot of work on the sharp curve after the crossing, if it's to improve the radius of that curve then that's work that's been long over due as well.
That was a very enjoyable trip and the hotel was very comfortable
@@matthewdempsey6583 Would have been a lovely slow trip out and back seeing all the different silo arts.
Sounds awesome . . .
@@thebops4180 Yea X classes are very nice sound one of my favourites.
nice one Ben
Great angles, well set up.
Thank you there are some gorgeous spots around the hills and countryside around the area between Ballarat and Dunolly.
The intro is a complete knock off of Greensleeves94's films. How unoriginal
Great video mate, certainly was a great day, although quiet cold for the most part. P20 & T413 certainly look very nice
Those mud holes stick out like dogs balls! & the bouncing around . . .
Wonder if the engineer of B76 thought we ain't going to make the grade?
Awesome compilations Trammann.
Thank you
The N class is well known for helping in heritage tours. Possibility for the preservation of the N class
Well hopefully once all the loco hauled services have finished up then would be good to see a few N’s go into heritage groups for special trips.
Traveling at a good speed in the first clip, 80kph ? cheers, Andy in Adelaide.
Yea 80km’s an hour all the way to warrenheip loop then down to 15km’s an hour for the loop then back up to 80.
great video mate
@@G516R700 Thank you
You come from a "land down under" I assume? Cool catches. I love that first lead locos color scheme!
Yes I am from Australia, SSR or Southern Short Haul Railroad always have good lashups with locos in different colours the first and forth locos are currently on lease to the company from a passenger company V/Line that operator Vlocity's Sprinters and loco hauled servicers around Victoria.
Awesome 👍
P20 and T413 are so back. I wonder if P20 has an ICE Radio
Don’t think it has a radio yet but not 100% sure on that,
It has a radio equipped sticker dunno if that means it has one
Why did the comeng say sunbury via the city loop if it isn’t going via the loop anymore…
@@Lettuce_King Not sure on that one maybe cause it goes back via the loop not sure.
That was a long and rewarding session! Thank you! Shame the new hoppers have started being defaced by graffiti. Awesome video 👍💯
@@The_Real_DreamM Glad you liked it and yes all the new wagons on both sides have had a far share of graffiti spraying done to them and i’m glad I went out when they first came out to get a shot of them when they were all cleaned before they got tagged.
Awesome. Looking at the N class leading would be like watching an AMTRAK locomotive leading a freight LOL!
Awesome 👍
Thanks for being around at all hours of the night to record these for us.
Your welcome I’ve been wanting to get a night shot at Melton station before they start all the works for the new sky rail station to be built soon.
cool
Did you notice whether the "railpage" camera's were still on top of the buildings behind you ? Would be interesting to see if they were still accessible.
They are still there but haven’t been accessible for years
Looking forward to seeing the "N" Class in SSR Colours.
Nice video mate
Thank you
Excellent multi EMD lash up 👍
CLF3 looking hecking fine wearing the SSR AN Passenger paint scheme. G514 is repaired after that freak March 2023 derailment and is back in service on the mainline. I like the SSR AN Passenger paint job. I'll miss the space ghost name on CLF3 but hey "Jason Ferguson" isnt too bad
Good stuff 👍 has there been any progress on the locomotives that were damaged at Marrar?
514 was the trailing locomotive in the consist at marrar !
Thanks G514 was one of the locos in the accident CLF1 unfortunately won’t be repaired and CLF4 is currently under going repairs.
@@Trammann Yes, okay, that's a bugger to lose a CLF ! Thank you for the reply.
CLF1's fate will unfortunately be scrapping as they can't afford to repair it.
Ah the G or CLF has skidded wheels...
Must be a great servicing centre.NOT!!!
A damaged flywheel on a 645 I imagine would not be a good thing!!
and i wonder how it could happen.
How big is cooling system
Unlucky break (brake)
Brilliant footage as always, thank you!
Thank you glad you enjoyed it.
Looks like ssr have some new locos about time send some back to the museum.
Surely the 2 Nclass can haul more than 20wagons
@@zdravkoleski2375 with 2 N Classes they get down to about 15km’s an hour when climbing warrenheip bank so anymore and they would not make it
@Trammann might need to take a run up put the foot the floor 1km away
Then you get a single Gclass pulling 25 wagons from Kilmore to Brooklyn
@@zdravkoleski2375 Can’t they have a 30km hour speed restriction through the station then a 20km hour speed restriction out of Ballarat by the time he’s passed then he’s already into the climb up warrenheip bank
@@zdravkoleski2375 You don’t have 2 1 in 52 grades to climb on the north east line majority of the line is flat.
In the mid to late '60s i used to stay at my aunties farm a few Km's to the west of Creswick. I loved hearing the trains going over Sulky at night.
@@senyaw53 Would have been a lot of trains back then along the line including steam hauled trains.
