Restoring and Replicating a 70's Bedside Table - Pt 2 : Finishing this makeover !
Переглядів 90Рік тому
Second and final part of this bedside table makeover ! I wanted to make some new drawers (I've used full extension drawer slides and it's smooth like butter!) I think all this hard work has pay off because you can't tell the difference between the original and the second I made 💪 Drawers' front is made of oak, I had this piece in the workshop for a long time and sometimes it's only when you cut...
Restoring and Replicating a 70's Bedside Table - Pt 1 : Making the twin!

This week is mostly about making the second one and new week is going to be the entire renovation of the original, plus upgrading the drawers and painting. 3D plans (for your own purpose only) will be available next week if you want to make o...

DIY Cold Smoker

Hi everyone! Today I'm showing you how I made this cold smoker. Not my first attempt, it is my third along the years but this one is definitely the best I have done so far. It is a great way to prepare a lot ingredients and it give a little smoky flavor 😋 In this video I used cheese, tofu, french trout and my favorite one : dried peppers (put that on guacamole and oulala!) LED Powered Mirror Frame l DIY

In this week video I'm showing you how to make a LED powered wood frame for a mirror. I needed some extra light in my bathroom and I'm renting that place so I can't drill holes. So, I had to find a way to have some front light and making a lighting frame was the best option. I really thought this project will be a quick one and I can tell you I was totally wrong ! I had a lot of fun doing it an...
Making a Wood Minions Chessboard

Finally after two years I had the time to finish this project. Making the squares took me so much time but it was worth it ! Chessboard is made out of skateboards (took me around one board for each color to make all the squares), aluminum strip and the frame is beech wood. The chess set was printed in 3D and then covered with paint. Really happy to share this project with you all ! Let me know ...

    I didn't understand the nails in the bottom of the handles. How come those nails didn't just hit the handle tangs and bend off? Didn't seem like they were doing any kind of wedge action either. Were those necessary? Did you just form fit the handles with a drill and/or heat? Or were they set in with epoxy? Thanks

    joli travail , dommage que colle et vernis sont toxique , et s'impregne dans la fumaison

    • @melodybuilds
      @melodybuilds Рік тому

      Merci, pour ce qui est du vernis il est appliqué uniquement à l’extérieur. Si ce projet est à refaire, j’utiliserai des planches de bois brut plutôt que des panneaux de lamellé collé. Les températures dans le fumoir n’excédant pas plus de 15 degrés les risques avec la colle sont tout de même inférieurs par rapport à la fumaison à chaud.

    PLEASE do NOT use a tablesaw like this lady!! This is a prime example of how to really hurt yourself. She did use a push stick, but on the wrong side of the blade. It is for the piece of wood between the blade and the fence! She was standing to the side, but the wood could still shoot back and literally go through the wall. Even a cement block wall!!!

    How long should the smoking process last?

    • @melodybuilds
      @melodybuilds Рік тому

      It depends of what kind kind of product and the intensity you want. For example, a small salmon/trout filet take around 6 hours of constant smoke. Cheese 4 hours … the most important is to regularly check if the temperature is not rising too much (for meat or fish not above 15 degrees Celsius or 59F)

    That was awesome! And the explanations added a lot. How does the dye work? Did you have to bake it on the wood? I loved the cardboard molds for the epoxy :)

    • @melodybuilds
      @melodybuilds Рік тому

      Thanks Simon! Yes, I took your advice and ad some explanations😉 I dye the wood with some cartridge ink, I know it is not usual but it works really great. When the wood is dry I put it in the pressure pot with some cactus juice (stabilizing resin) and put it in the oven for hardening the resin. Really long process that I will probably show in a video someday ☺️
