I never had a chance to ride the Corkscrew roller coaster, but a number of Knott's employees and guests still sing the ride's praises nearly three decades since the ride left the park in 1989. The ride was replaced by Boomerang in 1990. Luckily, Corkscrew wasn't sent to the scrap heap, but instead found a new home in Idaho at Silverwood Theme Park.

Are you ready to take a trip back to the late 1980s to relive the classic Knott's Berry Farm attractions? Let's use Professor Well's time machine to go back 30 years to visit some classic Knott's attractions that have been lost to time like Wacky Soap Box Racers, Kingdom of the Dinosaurs, Corkscrew roller coaster, Parachute Sky Jump and countless more.
I remember feeling like i was gonna fly out.
I loved this ride! But one time I unbuckled my seatbelt a little too early and stood up before the car was completely stopped. I was a kid and didn’t know better. The ride attendant grabbed me HARD by the arm and yelled, “NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!!!” Those were different times 😂
I mean, he grabbed your arm to save your life, would you rather have fallen off and died or become paralyzed? I would certainly HOPE a current day Knott’s associate would still intervene to stop that from happening and tell a child not to repeat that!!
Former Disney Imagineer Bob Gurr made this ( or was heavily involved in it. ) I always loved to see what former Disney guys did outside the park and/or for other parks. My favorite Knotts one was Wally Crump's "Knotts Berry Tales" though. It felt like a couple of Disney level rides in a non-Disney park, and yet no one had a ride that was a race between 4 cars. That ride will live in my head forever.

Can't help but notice how much thinner the people were back then. I go to knotts often now and the majority of the people I see there are quite overweight.

This is the Knott’s I feel in love with. It kinda sucks now but I still prefer it and universal over Disneyland.

Man! I loved this ride as a kid. It was my favorite attraction at Knotts Berry Farm and I would always ride it on both visits back in the late 90's and early 2000's. It's just a shame that it went extinct and since then, I never bothered revisiting the park. It's just not the same anymore. Despite it's extinction, Kingdom of the Dinosaurs will always have a special place in my heart. 🦕🦖🦣🦤

I know where they put corkscrew they put it kings dominion South Past Carolina 26455 Furbet ave Guvet 64 Rd some pieces of the corkscrew are outside the park Only one loop of the corkscrew is in the parking lot
Actually, Silverwood Theme Park in Couer d'Alene Idaho bought the Knott's Corkscrew. It has been at Silverwood since 1990, & is in operation today!
That's how they should do the shows again live throughout the park

These are just like they were in Son of Dinosaurs. But today, one of those Animatronic Creatures, Just 1 had some changes. Which would be the Tyrannosaurus Rex. The Rex had a new makeover.

I grew up going to Knott's almost every weekend. It played a major part in my childhood. Love this documentary. This is how I remember Knott's being :-).

Revolution opened in 1976 and is the steel coaster with a vertical loop. In 1975 at Knott’s, Corkscrew became the first inverting steel coaster and the first coaster to have two inversions.
Corkscrew is in Idaho, not Iowa
They took out corkscrew my mom said and put boomerang now they are taking boomerang out and I only got to go on it one time😭
If you ever want to ride it again, it was moved to Silverwood theme park North of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Sad news, Boomerang 27 year run at Knotts will end on April 23rd. Instead of creating a new roller coaster, Silverwood should return the Corkscrew back to Knott's. Corkscrew should be given up upgrade with the lift being a little higher giving the drop more speed, 2 loops and a helix that goes around the Sky Tower, too bad it'll never happen.
