item 3.Pineapple stand?
As soon as I read it, I knew you were right. I googled and I'm pretty certain now. Thank you for this one.
Could the second set of glasses been some sort of test pieces with aim of getting to a specific finish etc.....
For a number of years i restored antique porcelain. Initialy i sometimes used super glue (cyanoacrylate), they were instantaneous in bonding and quite strong. However, i discovered with age (sometimes as little as 2-3 years) they tended to deteriorate like an elastic rubber band might and the bond without warning failed. Thereafter i switched to epoxy, great longevity, not water white, but that was not neccessary for my needs....i believe there are soms water white versions available on the market though. So be careful when handling those claret jugs in the future!
The stopper suggests (old woven) beehive shape to me. Maybe for honey mead?
I found this video very interesting, thanks Kevin ❤😊
Could the stand thing be the base of a lamp? Call the first item a ships carafe and sell it for twice as much! I just cleared out some random mediocre grade glass at auction and got twice what I expected, that's what I'd do with those hideous set of drinking glasses made by some untalented clutz who clearly drank the wine before he made the glasses for it.
@@wanderingsandmusings9255 I’m sure the “drinking glasses” are a thing, and not drinking glasses, but what thing? I think they are too cr@p to be drinking glasses.
I want to sell this pieces

Last one looks like a leech pot
@@Gravitron-Crew I was looking and maybe the first carafe-like thing is.
Just to say...but anybody here subbed to Mr. Kevin due to his content being satisfying especially by his voice and the glassware? It's just so calm and chill
@@ziddthe1st that’s because I’m a calm and chill kind of guy. When an accident happens, I’m the one that says, OK, let’s clean up, because the accident has already happened and there’s no point in being aerated about it.
@lovedecanters7891 God bless your soul sir. For blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God - St. Matthew 5:9. Just found your content very amazing and to that which gives of a cozy mood and feeling, as well as educationally, I who was completely ignorant of the whole glassware community and industry am now enlightened about few things about it due to your vids. Hats off to your passion as well in which you work and also shows your doing your best👏👏👏.
The 3rd item looks like the base of a Anglo-Irish Ewer or decanter that has been broken and cut down. We have one from 1870 (or earlier) and it looks exactly like it😃
The fifth item looks a bit like a storm lantern, but it is shorter than the one I have and the foot is less splayed. The style of foot on mine is similar to bowls of ca 1800. The foot on yours is odd!
Frustrating, but nonetheless interesting when something turns up that can't quite be pinned down.....🤔
Beautiful !
I hope you get to 10k
@@Layla-lx7vx closes his eyes and dreams…..10K. I think my channel is too niche to get to 10k. It’s very UK-centric, and I’m not sure there’s enough people interested.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge of jug handles Kevin. Keep up the good work and the videos!
So unusual..beautiful
Interesting. If the price was good it was worth the gamble. You could have hit the jackpot. Difficult to judge it correctly for a picture sometimes.
@@carmenm.4091 true, a lot of times a picture of any quality is not quite enough. You need to have the thing in your hands.
Thank you Kevin. Some good information here and a better ratio of looking at glass vs looking at references on the computer.
@@PeteLavalette it’s a difficult balance because my objective is to show people how to figure things out themselves.
Also known as stream-line moderne.
More Deco please!
@@doctorf1144 I’m going to do all my Webb Corbetts. They are all prewar/postwar.
I ONCE DATED OLD GLASS . I DIDN'T WORK OUT. SHE WAS COLD AND EMPTY.
I love how orrefors pieces reflect the light. It looks like a beautiful nugget of ice
Thank you very informative.
Brilliantly knitted together, with evidence both narrated & visual! Tea mixing bowls next then … going to see if you have more on your site … Thanks!
I'm afraid my site only has part of my collection on it. I am actively working on the next version at the moment.
@KAR-aandle There's not a lot written on the subject.....However a recent book called "The story of British Tea chests and Caddies" dos have an entire chapter on glass for tea ...and explains that they are in fact "Sugar Basons"
@ I was looking, £40. I’m seriously considering.
Fantastic video as always .....the bowl is however not a "tea mixing bowl " but actually a sugar bowl .....Its a common mistake that has been compounded over the years ! I have contemporary references to show this .....Love your channel....pleasure to watch
@@gilchristantiques7464 I’m going to have to dig into this subject…… I feel a video coming on.

thanks again Kevin for the information on that Decanter i asked you about yesterday the stopper fit perfect no wobble great seal but it is wrong for it even though i saw a few more online like it with the same type stopper mine is polished while the neck of the Decanter is worn and grey looking
Very interesting

Oh that’s fun! I have a 1930s drinks cabinet that would look just about right with that.
Now I have seen everything....never imagined Gorilla glue being applied in such a way!! Bravery indeed
UV glue is what they use on windscreens, fairplay it takes some kahunas to take on broken glass repairs
I’m going to try locktite glass super glue next. I’m going try it on something very broken first.
Deffo UV glue. Lalique bowl in 2 pieces is still holding together. Comes with a brush so you can paint it carefully onto a crack. Fabulous stuff! And fun!
@@KAR-aandle what sort of price was your kit please? I see ones on amazon with uv LED from about 8 but better ones from 15 upwards. Thank you.
The ridges on the neck remind me of art deco from the 20s 😮
I would love a video on glassware through the centuries 😊
@@chikari123 I need to think on this one. It’s a huge subject but I might be able to condense something.
Video on how you determine the age of these antiques? That was amazing!
@@chikari123 I will give it a go.
What online glass resource subscriptions/memberships would you suggest? 🙂
@@SadieSativa if you look on my website, there’s a section called Resources, it has links to quite a few online resources I use. I would also recommend Facebook groups like, Heart of Glass and, Charity Shop and Car Boot Art Glass. There are also dozens of more specific FB groups if you have a particular interest. If you wade through the descriptions of my videos you will find loads of online resources I use. Good luck.
@lovedecanters7891 Awesome, thank you for that. Will check out your suggestions 🌺
Small but appealing.
Hi Kevin, if you are interested 20th century glass, what's the single most useful book?
I would go for Millers 20th Century Glass by Andy McConnell. I have ID’d some fantastic glass just through having that book.
HELP! 🙏🏽 I have an issue..the end of my stopper broke off in the bottle neck when moving how do I remove it without the decanters neck shattering. 😢
You can try running warm tap water over the neck of decanter. Glass does expand very slightly when warmed, and the bottle neck should warm before the stopper and release it. This is the theory, I have used it and it works sometimes. Don’t use very hot water because localised heating can create too many stresses within the glass and shatter it.
@@lovedecanters7891 thank you cause its jammed tight in there I'll try it in the morning it's like 3am in kenya
@@lovedecanters7891 Hi so I tried warm water but since the tip of the stopper was so fixed into place(air-tight) it warmed up with the neck and formed a long fracture crack 6cm long from the lip of the crystal to half of the neck. Later noticed the broken stopper was actually cracked in 2 it still won't budge.. its a lost cause💔
Lovely thing.
❤❤❤

I really hope your videos get picked up more by the algorithm!
I hope so too!
Beautiful
Feels almost Mughal.
The fact that people melted quartz crystal and made these is amazing.
Thank you brilliant idea I used the denture tablets and the cloudy stains have gone no brushes needed🎉
It amazes me how daring the designs of the 20s through 40s were. We’re all footnotes on their pioneering experiments. As for this jug, it could be popped on any store shelf today, and it would be accepted as completely modern.
