Hello my name is Greg and I like building stuff. Welcome to my channel Midlife Customs.
I post videos of various projects (working on cars and trucks/DIY videos/acting clips) and share them with you. Hopefully you will find them entertaining and/or informational.
Ever since I was a kid I have enjoyed building stuff or putting things back together again. I am self taught and work on these projects, including these videos, mostly by myself. My brother is pretty good at lending a hand if I need it. Thanks Bro, lol. Please take a moment to look around and don't forget to hit subscribe and click the bell icon to catch future videos. Thanks for visiting. ua-cam.com/users/GregsGarage1

is this applicable in hydraulic application? it's a hi pressure hydraulic compact tracked loader.
@maxamps45 I am not sure. If you are able to, ask the manufacturers you getting them from. Good luck
Thanks, Greg. Nice logo.
@Naseemtheking thank you
😎👍
Liked your video .. thanks :) Trying to understand difference in 9" rears between posi and non-posi. I just bought a project which included the original axle housing .. axles complete but with 3rd member removed .. a 1961 Thunderbird. Was hoping to get familiar 9" rears/maintenance so I can redo my T-bird parts-n-pieces with a 3.25 posi third member. Also have several GM projects I would like to use 9" rears in. One is an H-body Pontiac Astre. Another a Firebird. All posi hopefully. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Keith
@kithwalden7718 Thank you. Sounds like you have a bunch of exciting projects. This video series was the first Ford 9" I had ever worked on. There is a lot to learn and a lot of tools involved. Check out this series by @cartapes1601 ua-cam.com/video/8w4VL1zmTEQ/v-deo.htmlsi=QOXrfYObn80ot55P . They look a little old but they have a ton of good stuff in it. Good luck on your projects.
Perfect video
@himesjon Thank you
Excellent video
@Runair14 Thank you
i can hear the spit moving around in your mouth. disgusting.
Pretty good content & definitely saved a few buck. Thanks and keep em coming. Im tackling this project next weekend 🔧😎
@browntacks708 Thank you
No problem im at the same stage now. By chance do you have a footage or Pics of how you you ran your brake lines on the calibers and and the 9 inch housing & did you use the ford explorer emergency brake lines ,thanks im working on a 67 Mustang coupe 💨
@browntacks708 I do have some footage I was working on. But I am between projects and it wont be done for quite a while. I cut off the back half of the explorer perches and welded them to the new ones and used two short explorer e brake line. I am still working out the kinks. You can Google Dazecars. He has a pretty good write up on mustang ebrake. Good luck on the 67 Mustang
My fittings came with o rings, is it necessary to put an o ring in between the fitting when tightening the fitting to the hose?
@SBdunks3 I am not sure what setup you have. AN fittings don't usually use o rings. Might want to check with the company you bought them from.
This stuff sucks. 3 tries and can't get it to go in without fraying
@MikeJrOfficial yeah that happens and I agree it sucks when it does.
If people are wondering or questioning this 37 fare is the proper method and how we do it in the field, boats, race cars, brake fittings. The Farrell can work but will fail after repeated use, the flare lasts for ever basically.
@user-nf3oq2ge3g thanks for sharing
What a voice...
Yes Sr very helpful, thanks a lot.
@izzycamaro thanks again
Thanks for the great video. Just what I needed to see, thanks for not having any music.
@izzycamaro Thank you
Great video, Thanks!
@iddddaduncan Thank you
@@midlifecustoms I did my Broncos weatherstripping right after watching and it went great.
@iddddaduncan That is great
Super helpful 👌
@harryhall4954 Thank you
In aviation, compression Fittings are not allowed, a flare nut and a sleeve is the way to go.. some systems require a double flare job on the tube done by a special machine
@Airman.. thanks for sharing
Can I just brake the lock
@tripyj2 not sure what you mean by a lock. It is held on by a nut on a threaded stud.
How long to it have tobe to go from engine to gas tank I have a 08 impala ls
@t.real_adams6898 I have no idea. Maybe you can run a piece of rope the way you want it and then measure it.
excellent tutorial without drama and side stories
@guyrini3777 Thank you
What type of Lubricant do you use?
@vinnyc.1265 I used a couple of drops of tool oil I had
This is exactly how a tutorial video should be! Slow, great explanation and good up close imaging of what you’re doing! So many people have the camera so far away that you really can’t see what they’re doing, to understand what they’re doing! Thanks for a great video!
@RicheySynthetics thank you for the kind words
great tutorial
@user-ne7qv5gt3k thank you
Just try it it's easy, then the alarm will sound like your being shot at, because u r
Sweet deal like Shaquille O'Neal! Very easy, thank you.
@GabrielOrtizUAP Thank you
Excellent video dude. Thanks
@bigbooyig Thank you
Are these fittings suitable for power steering high pressure lines?
@matthewbentley2308 I am not sure. If you are able to, ask the manufacturers you are going to get them from. Good luck
Great Video!!
@RaymondLeblanc-mx1yd thanks
Used to install roof racks during the 70's. It still have mine that is just like that. It's like a step bit was called uni-bit in 71 when I bought mine. Same on auto-adjust vice grips and SnapOn hand impact needed for motorcycle side covers as 60's Phillips screws! Thanks for the video
@deankay4434 Tanks for the comments and sharing your knowledge. Hope you are enjoying retirement.
They use a hydraulic version of this at the dealership. Having too much sticker out on OP-1 or uneven cut would cause a larger end the fitting may not go over. Clean & taper the inside of the cut tubing and make sure it is square. Thanks for the video!
Some brands or so called experts say to leave 1/8th" between to two fittings. Are the using a different brand of fittings? I am quickly loosing track of brands and right v wrong. This build is mine, kinda want it right. Thanks for video!
Many -AN fitting companies do not allow use of another companies hose, or so they say. I fixed vehicles with factory parts at dealers so this is all new. I watched the videos and have tools already. Have you run across hose issues? I plan on woven hose on fuel supply & return on my LS family engine. Thanks! Retire, ASE Master.
No o rings?
@fartgun6024 No o rings
Perfect explanation! BEST video on this product to date. Thank-you!
@JosephSmith72 thanks for the kind words
well that explains my my engine got a slight miss fire at idle
@ryan9123 I hope it helped
Thanks
@johnpeerless52 Thank you
I heard some say you need teflon tape? I been looking at a transmission cooler on amazon and it comes with AN fittings. Some reviews say the fittings need teflon/plumbers tape. I wonder if it also means I have to put an fittings on my factory transmission lines too?
@Soldier1287 AN fittings don't usually use teflon tape. You might be able to find a adapter fitting to go from the factory line fitting to the AN fitting on the transmission cooler.
When would you use AN Compression style fittings vs the flared end fittings?
@tekman05 Like I mentioned in the video. I only have used a compression fitting once. I usually flare all my lines.
Very, very good video. Very thorough and informative
Very, very good informative video. I like the fact you are thorough
@user-xw3co8kc4y Thank you
Great video i appreciate the close up details.
@ta51503828 Thank you
..or your 90 can be a street 90 with a male and female.
Curious. I have this exact fittings and hose, was planning on replacing a hard steel hose thats on my rack and pinion, do you know if this style of an fittings and hose is rated for high pressure power steering? Thanks
@jordanboelter No, sorry I do not know the pressure rating.
Rack and pinion pressures run 400-600PSI, depending on the brand. Recirculating ball steering gear boxes run 800-1,200PSI and low pressure return is under 20PSI. DK, ASE Master tech since 78, retired.
Chevy and Ford have the best old pickup truck
@jimmyadams8667 I agree
I know I'm 3 years late. I'm currently installing new transmission lines for my 2007 mazda 6, ive gone through several fittings but keep leaking at 37⁰. Everything is snug, ive tried conical seals several times.. tried different brand AN fitting too 6AN is the size. Any advice? 😅
@andr3woc34 sorry to hear that. Nothing comes to mind. Good luck hope you figure it out 👍🏻
Thank you for posting this video. Straight forward directions. Helped me here with a bump side in Brazil.
@CRETINOification thank you. It is nice to hear that
