It's 10:30pm in Weymouth. You're not hungry enough for fish and chips, and you're not drunk enough to order a kebab.
The solution?
Run back to Poole in time for breakfast.
Welcome to the 5th edition of the coolest and daftest ultra-marathon you've never heard of.
Thank you, Rich, Helen & Shelley for looking out for us and ensuring we all had the best night ever in the Purbecks!

Ringwood to Christchurch - 33 miles running along the Castleman Trailway

Treated myself to a day off from work and a long run along the Castleman Trailway from Ringwood down to Upton Country Park in Poole, then back home via the seafront.
OK Dinghy Sailing Christchurch Harbour
Переглядів 27821 день тому
December 1st 2024, and its a damp, grey morning with a solid 20-30 mph breeze. No 18ft skiffs to watch on UA-cam today so it's time to go sailing and get wet. 2 short races in the harbour with a handful of plucky friends. Happy Sunday everyone.

Big Feat events are running a marathon and a 50k Ultra on this route in December, so my partner and I decided to take a plod around the course to see what its like. It's hilly, muddy and stunningly beautiful in lots of places. And best of all we got to enjoy a cold beer in the garden of the High Corner Inn afterwards!

Clarendon Marathon 2024

The Clarendon Marathon takes place on the first Sunday of October. You run or walk from Salisbury to Winchester with a relay race and half marathon options available. This is one of the best organised, friendliest, volunteer led events I've ever take part of and it raises tens of thousands of pounds for local charities each year. I hope you enjoy my little adventure along the Clarendon Way. Wel...

Did this section yesterday - thanks for another helpful video!
Awesome Chris! Super Well Done buddy!
@@jimmyelenis8387 we missed you! Come back soon and come back strong!
Loved the experience, don't hesitate to sign up next year!
👏 my wife Lizzy did it and loved it
Awesome! Yes I remember her from the run. She did so well. Thanks for commenting. Love your channel, by the way!
Thanks for sharing this and bringing back some old sweet memories. I used to sail OK dinghies in the 70s.
Always nice seeing the RTTS scenery again 😍. Good running, glad to see you sporting your buff too 😄
@@KJRuns Thank you! Yes I have a soft spot for RTTS. It’s a lovely event.
Thanks for uploading - I'm planning to recce this section so it's good to know what I'm in for!
@@adambeach444 I think it’s one of the loveliest sections of the SDW. If you’re planning to finish at the running track it’s definitely worth knowing about the last couple of miles. When I did the race in June it definitely helped not having to think about navigation and knowing what was around the corner! Good luck!
Looked amazing!!
Just stumbled across this - I had no idea you were a UA-cam star!! I am doing 2025, and quite a few PJC coming along too (most will do the half I think). Cannot wait....
@@stevewooldridge2403 I’m going as well! See you there!
Wow
I SAW SOMEONE IN A SHIRT BRRRRR!
i posted that before ela came in later. brrrrrrr !
Impressive rigging system with traveler, but the boom on that dinghy is a real deck sweeper. Lovely to see Christchurch, where I sailed as a teenager (during some Bournemouth School afternoon games periods.
Such a lovely evening for a gentle sail 😊
awesome run well done.
You too, Tom!
Great to meet you on Sunday! Nice video. Subscribed! See you got a bit of me on your video too! You are at about 18:47 on mine. Enjoy!
Did you run it again this year?
@@outinthesun not this year. It’s actually taking place today. Lots of friends are doing it. Clarendon Marathon tomorrow instead.
@@chrisarnell1 It literally popped up on my alerts it was on. Another perfect day for the event weather wise I've not heard of the Clarendon marathon.
well done. just about perfect weather
. One of my favourite places to visit although have never been to Hurst Lighthouse in the dark. Well done .
Looks an incredible place to run 🏖🏖
Hello, I am a regular viewer. Your video's quality is superb and the idea is excellent. But Do you know why your content views, audience engagement, and reach are so low? For some errors in your Channel and on your content that are happening. I have some plans and tips for you to grow your channel to a larger audience organically. Are you interested to know?
Looks like a nice ride 👌
Thank you, yes it was really enjoyable. Makes the dreaded “long ride” so much more interesting!
Phew… glad you got all the way to the sea in the end 😁
Beautiful landscape and very good drone shots!! Enjoyed watching!! SUBSCRIBED 👏 👏
@@fanicahriscu1769 Thank you! I am just learning the basics. 😁
No problem, you are welcome!!
Very nice video and beautiful drone footage!! Thank you for sharing!! Done myself few drone videos for my travel channel if you want to have a look at....thank you!!! You got a subscriber!!
I did that one too , it was a great days ride well done 👏

If I'm ever brave enough to do 100 I defo want you there. Amazing! So chilled and just getting it done 👍
Not only. For me it's going under bridges and up and down the slipway as i am not in control of that and when other people are working on my boat. Gerard.
Evening fella, I hope I find you well. What was you’re longest training run for this event?
@@eddymercer6025 hi Eddy! Longest run was probably about 21 miles. I basically used a marathon training plan. I actually may have done the full course as a recce run once before the event but typically 20 miles would be my longest run in training. Quite a few back to back long runs do help though.
@@chrisarnell1hero! Thank you for taking the time to write that Chris, hope you’re good? U doing it this year?
@@eddymercer6025 Haven't decided whether to do it again this year! Signed up for a 110 mile bike ride on Dartmoor the week before so I'm cycling more than running at the moment. I do have a soft spot for this race and it's so close to home so, yes, I might well enter nearer the time. Good luck Eddy and maybe I'll see you there?
@@chrisarnell1nice! Hopefully bump into you fella
🔥🔥🔥🔥
So thats where you go when it rains ☔️
Well done legend!
That’s the best South Downs 100 vlog I’ve seen so far. Joking apart, I really think it is. I found it very relatable. I’m becoming increasingly likely to sign up when the places become available on Saturday. Furthest I’ve done is 100k this May and I found it tough. So 100 miles terrifies me!
@@conradburdekin722 thank you so much! 430 of us started and there are 430 unique stories to be told. I’m so pleased you enjoyed mine. My furthest was 100k and I had all the same doubts but I enjoyed the training and the race so much that it was definitely worth the effort. I’m not sure I’ll try another but the SDW100 was spectacular and one of the best days of my life. If I can do this, almost anyone can!
@@chrisarnell1 thank you for your quick reply 👍
@@chrisarnell1I did sign up. Then ran Thames path 100k and decided that 100 miles was a step too far for 2025. So I’ll see about doing it in maybe another couple of years.
@@conradburdekin722 You’re the best judge of your mind and body and you’ll know when you’re ready to tackle 100 miles. One thing I’ve learned is that it doesn’t keep getting worse and I felt better at 100 miles than I felt at 100k. I’m going even longer in 2025 but that’s another story and hopefully another vlog! Thanks for your support and for sharing your story with us!
@@chrisarnell1 I look forward to watching that!!!
Well done, and thanks for taking the time to film it.. I think I’ll do it one day, even though I say never.. just need to get a least one 100k, that I also said I’d never do, done first.. then I might catch the 100mile bug.
@@jamstaa69 we encounter the words “never” and “never again “ quite often! You might regret not trying 100 miles. I’m so pleased I tried it. I was 60 2 weeks before the event and the 12th oldest finisher so it’s probably good that I didn’t wait too much longer!
From Prescott Arizona, USA, I enjoyed watching your race. You are awesome!!
I did the SDW50 in April and I plan to be on the start line of the 2025 SDW100 🤞🏻 Great video, thanks for sharing
Good luck Paul. You won't regret it! Stay fit and well and enjoy every moment.

Well done Sir! 👏
A hundred miles-what an incredible journey! Truly impressive. Congratulations on your remarkable dedication!
Well done, great video.
Thanks so much Ray. Everyone who made it to the start has their own story to tell. I'm so pleased you enjoyed mine.
Loved every minutes Chris! Thank you for sharing your adventure with us! Your perseverance and enthusiasm really paid off. You didn't just run, you ran very well. Super Well Done on your amazing achievement! You smashed it!!!💪🏅
Fantastic effort Chris. Now you have planted a seed ,
Amazing achievement Chris. Love your honesty with your varying emotions. So nice to see the South Downs Way - used to be our go-to place before we had the beach. And if we ever did this ourselves, at least we now know which is the best checkpoint.
Well done Chris 🎉. Amazing 👏
Thanks for this - great video to capture the day. Glad you enjoyed our island. I’m also doing SDW100 so may see you there (I’ve been watching your recce videos). Tiaan (GU36 winner/record holder) is also running. Cheers.
We'd better to say hello to Tiaan before the start! Not expecting to meet him further along the course. Have a great run, Gareth. Looking forward to meeting you :)
Actually Gareth I just checked the GU36 results. I'd better make sure I meet you before the start as well! You were 13th overall and seriously fast! Good luck on the SDW100.
Thank you. This will be my first 100miler so who knows how it’ll go. Will try and be cautious with the pacing and fingers crossed. Hopefully it won’t be too hot either 🤞
That's a great video Chris (AKA NSC) and the production is excellent! It was a fantastic event and a great community. Really good to chat with you and good luck with SDW100 and the Dartmoor adventure (I'll look out for the videos!)
It was great to meet you Richard. Glad you enjoyed the day, too!
